Francis Jacobs Huff, 81, of Eastern, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at her daughter’s residence at Garrett.
She was born November 20, 1919, in Knott County, the daughter of the late Tom and Bethany Owens Jacobs. She was a retired cook at Wayland and Allen Central Schools, and was a member of the Lackey Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Huff.
Survivors include two sons, Canton Huff of Rittman, Ohio, and Laurel Huff of Milford, Ohio; two daughters, Bethleen Francis of Garrett, and Orzie Huff of Rittman, Ohio; one sister, Susanna Combs of Raven; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 9, at 2 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, at Martin, with Bobby Baldridge officiating.
Burial was in the Alice Point Cemetery, in Knott County.
Pallbearers were Nick Huff, Glen Likens, Shawn Francis, Brian Francis, Josh Francis, Chris Francis, Larry Lafferty, Kent Flanery, and Ben Flanery.
Georgia Mae Harmon Boyd
Georgia Mae Harmon Boyd, 61, of Frankfort, died Friday, April 6, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
A native of Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Walter “Doc” and Virginia Mae Davis Harmon. She was a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dawson Boyd.
Other survivors include one son, Okie Lee Conn of Frankfort; three stepsons, Charles Dale Boyd, Noah Lee Boyd and Dawson Boyd Jr.; one brother, Hydrac Harmon of Winchester; one sister, Mildred Hunt of Logan, West Virginia; four grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 9, at the Grace Freewill Baptist Church, in Lexington, with Rev. Gary Dean officiating.
Burial was in Clarmont Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Scobee Funeral Home, Winchester.
Serving as pallbearers were Mark Thorn, Lee Boyd, Dawson Boyd Jr., Charles Dale, Rara Justice Jr., Avery Harmon, Kevin Osborne and Ken Osborne.
Gracie Cole Johnson
Gracie Cole Johnson, 90, of Melvin, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, following an extended illness.
Born on March 28, 1911, at Halo, she was the daughter of the late Harm Johnson and Rosa Osborne Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tivis Cole, and her second husband, Charlie Johnson.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Cole of Melvin; one brother, James Elswick of Hi Hat; three sisters, Minnie Tuttle of Martin, Myrtle Kulik of Lorain, Ohio, and Anna Little of Price; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 9, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Ellis Holbrook and Monroe Jones officiating.
Burial was in the Little Cemetery, at Price.
Hester Hall
Hester Hall, 87, of Banner, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at her residence.
She was born January 11, 1914, in Banner, the daughter of the late Jerry Hall and Rosa Hurd Hall. She was a member of the Little Salem Regular Baptist Church, at Dana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Graham Hall.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Luther Hall of Conyers, Georgia, David M. Hall of Banner; one daughter, Rosa Mary Stewart of Banner, 10 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 10, at 11 a.m., in the Little Salem Regular Baptist Church, at Dana, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Hester Hall, were Adam Roberts, John David Hall, Brandon Combs, Willie Stewart, John Hall, Donnie Akers, Micheal Akers, Josh Hamilton, and Chris Ryan.
Hezie Samons
Hezie Samons, 82, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Arbors at Oregon, Ohio.
He was born on December 8, 1918, in Kentucky, the son of the late Bascom and Susie Samons. He was a sanitation engineer with LOF for 20 years, retiring in 1977, he was an Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the Flanders Road Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, JoeAnn Samons.
Other survivors include one son, Jessie E. Sammons; brothers, Casey, Malcolm, Tandy and Bascom Samons; sisters, Sadie Samons and Julie Williams; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 11, at 10 a.m. in the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home, Oregon.
Burial will be in the Toledo Memorial Park.
Josephine Litton
Josephine Litton, 86, of Martin, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
She was born January 15, 1915, at Printer, the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Stevens Ousley. She was a member of the Martin Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Litton.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Allen Goble of New Albany, Indiana; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 12, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Donnie Hackworth officiating.
Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery, at Martin.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Josephine Litton were Charles Cole, Jay Teeter, Steven Goble, Lenzie Goble, Joe Mullins, and Charles Ray Hunter.
Mollie Hayes
Mollie Hayes, 91, of Betsy Layne, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at her residence.
She was born August 25, 1909, at Hueysville, the daughter of the late Zack and Kate Sutton Conley. She was a storekeeper at Hobert Hayes Grocery and was a member of the Betsy Layne Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Hayes.
Survivors include one sister, Daisy Smith of Talcum.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 9, at 1 p.m., at the Betsy Layne Church of Christ, with Bennie Blankenship and Tommy Spears officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.

Okel Ray
Okel Ray, 78, of Harold, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at her sister’s residence in Harold.
She was born May 18, 1922, in Pike County, the daughter of the late Emory Ray and Tilda Hamilton Ray. She was a member of the Pilgrim Home Regular Baptist Church, at Grethel.
Survivors include one brother, Leonard Ray of Battle Creek, Michigan; two sisters, Opal Little of Pikeville, Stlvia Howell of Harold; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 10, at 11 a.m., in the Pilgrim Home Regular Baptist Church, at Grethel, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Sam Hall Cemetery, Robinson Creek, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Okel Ray, were Tim Stiltner, Cleve Tackett, Mark Tackett, Timothy Cook, J.R. Moore, Wendy Cook, and Eric Hammond.
