Charles Eugene "Charlie" Hines Jr., 62, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, of a sudden illness at his residence.
Born on July 29, 1938, he was the son of Dorothy Mulliken Hines and the late Charles Eugene Hines Sr. He was a retired Polygraph examiner for the Kentucky State Police, Post No. 9, in Pikeville. He was affiliated with the Fitzpatrick First Baptist Church, Prestonsburg. He was a United States Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Marshall Hines.
Other survivors include two sons, Randall Hines of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Douglas Hines of Burlington, New Jersey; two stepsons, Stephen Frasure of Hueysville, Michael Frasure of Langley; one brother, James Richard Hines of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Carolyn Sue Stevens of Frederick, Maryland; six grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 2, at 11 a.m., at the Fitzpatrick First Baptist Church, Prestonsburg, with Rev. Jennings West officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Prestonsburg.
Dorothy D. Morrison
Dorothy D. Morrison, 88, of Harold, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.
Born on November 8, 1911, in Harold, she was the daughter of the late George W. Clark and Elizabeth Layne Clark. She was a member of the Vogel Day United Methodist Church, at Harold.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hercelle C. Morrison.
Survivors include one son, Jack C. Morrison of Huntington, West Virginia; one daughter, Virginia M. Burchett of Lexington; one brother, George Edward Clark of Harold; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 4, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergymen, Levi Coleman and Dennis Love, officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Clark, Edward Clark, Randall Coggins, Brian White, Jerry Legere, and Sam Morrison.
Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Kendrick
Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Kendrick, 74, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born on November 21, 1925, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Garland and Rosie Lewis Kendrick. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church, Goble Roberts, Prestonsburg.
Survivors include one sister, Joann Burchett.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 10, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, with Rev. Clifford Austin officiating.
Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery, Prestonsburg, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Madeline H. Heinisch
Madeline H. Heinisch, 73, of McDowell, died Saturday, August 5, 2000, in the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born on March 31, 1927, in Pike County, she was the daughter of Lizzie Hayes Hamilton, of McDowell, and the late Henry Hamilton. She was a retired mines and minerals secretary and clerk at Martin.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Heinisch.
Other survivors include two sons, Terry R. Heinisch and Glenn R. Heinisch, both of Lexington; one brother, Eugene Hamilton of McDowell; one sister, Esther Sammons of McDowell; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 8, at 2 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergyman, Ted Shannon, officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Sexton, Freddie Moore, Wes Gearheart, Tommy Claude Hall, Larry Sexton, David Martin, Vaughn Watson and Tracy Stumbo.
Matthew Johnson
Matthew Johnson, 22, of Bevinsville, died Sunday, August 6, 2000, at Jacks Creek, following a sudden illness.
Born on March 17, 1978, in Pikeville, he was the son of Maudie B. Brainard of Sandy Hook, and the late Vernon B. Johnson.
He is survived by his stepfather, Kendall E. Brainard.
He was employed as a laborer for the county.
Other survivors include his paternal grandparents, Claude and Geraldine Martin Johnson of Bevinsville; and one brother, Vernon Brian Johnson of Bevinsville.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 9, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Thomas Biddle officiating.
Burial will be in the Buckingham Cemetery, at Bevinsville, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Robert Eugene "Ro-Ho" Kidd
Robert Eugene "Ro-Ho" Kidd, 27, of Harold, died Sunday, August 6, 2000, at his residence, following a sudden illness.
Born on September 30, 1972, in Pikeville, he was the son of the late Dan and Brenda Phillips Kidd. He was a laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Kari Presley Kidd of Banner; four brothers, Danny Bruce Kidd, Joey Lee Kidd, Brian Keith Kidd and Michael Ray Kidd, all of Harold; and one sister, Melissa Ann Kidd of Stanville.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 10, at noon, at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Mike Hammonds and others officiating.
Burial will be in the Kidd Cemetery, at Honaker, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
William Fredrick "Bill" Walker Jr.
William Fredrick "Bill" Walker Jr., 62, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday, August 6, 2000, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on October 19, 1937, in Ford City, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William Fredrick Walker Sr. and Irene Bakovisky Walker. He was a retired laborer.
Survivors include one daughter, Heather M. Conley of Prestonsburg; one brother, Alan Walker of Cleveland, Ohio and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be announced later by Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Birdie Flannery
Birdie Flannery, 84, of Jackson, Michigan, formerly of Martin, died Saturday, July 15, 2000.
Born in Blue River, she was the daughter of the late Clarinda Johnson Parrot and step-daughter of the late Bill Flannery.
Her husband, Amos Flannery, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Flannery of Stevens, Pennsylvania, Lowell Flannery of Action, California; one sister, Anne Hagg of Jackson, Michigan; one brother, Charley Flannery of Jackson, Michigan; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 19, at 11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Michigan, with First Counselor Lawrence Weller officiating.
Burial was in the Roseland Memorial Gardens, Jackson, Michigan.
Hervey Endicott
Hervey Endicott, 68, of Endicott, died Thursday, August 3, 2000, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born on June 21, 1932, in Endicott, he was the son of Salirda "Coonie" Spears Endicott and the late William Endicott. He was a retired highway department employee.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Endicott and Charles Endicott, both of Fleming County; two daughters, Shelia Tucker of Shelbiana, Gloria Endicott of Endicott; one brother, Thurston Endicott and one sister, Fay Endicott, both of Endicott; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 7, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, with Billy Compton officiating.
Burial was in the Goble Cemetery, at Endicott, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
