Patricia Sue Goble Martin, 66, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born March 6, 1934, in Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of Sarah Spradlin Goble and the late James Yancey "Sonny" Goble. She was employed as office manager at Triple Elkhorn Coal Company, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Prestonsburg; member of the Prestonsburg Woman's Club and Highlands Regional Auxillary.
Survivors include her mother, Sarah Spradlin Goble of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Paula M. Layne of Prestonsburg; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 15, at 1 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, in Prestonsburg, with Rev. George Love officiating.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Patricia Sue Goble Martin were Paul Osborne, Doug Osborne, Aaron Bond, Charles Yancey Ferguson, David Allen Layne, Bill C. Spradlin, Bobby J. Spradlin and John F. Smiley.
Burial will be in Richmond Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
James F. Coburn
James F. Coburn, 34, of Beattyville, formerly of Mousie, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at his home.
Born on March 2, 1966, in Hazard, he was the son of Billy Paul Coburn and Christine Hylton Coburn. He was a member of the Lee County Fire Department, and Hindman Fire Department. He was a KY Tech Fire Training instructor for six years. He received the 110 percent award at the Lee County Fire Department in the year 2000 and was a former firefighter of the year at the Lee County Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Joni L. Coburn.
Survivors, other than his wife and parents, is one sister, Susan Coburn of Fisty.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 13, under the direction of Hindman Funeral Services Chapel, with Roger Hicks, Ralph Howard and Kelly Slone officiating.
Burial was in the Everett Smith Cemetery at Softshell, under the direction of Hindman Funeral Services.
Venis Conn
Venis Conn, 69, of Arkansas Creek, Martin, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, following an extended illness.
Born on October 22, 1930, in Martin, he was the son of the late John B. Conn and Dakota Crum Conn. He was a disabled coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Dakota Adkins Conn.
Other survivors include one son, Dallas Conn of Martin; three step-sons, Bobby Dean (Bud) Crum of Pikeville, Woodrow Crum of Banner, Jimmy Darrell Crum of Prestonsburg; two step-daughters, Dottie Layne of Michigan, Pauline Gardner of Salyersville; two brothers, Dennis Conn of Martin and Randall Conn of Prestonsburg; three sisters, Rethel Conn and Maxine Lafferty, both of Martin; Talma Beasley of Louisville; one grandchild and several step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 14, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, with Bobby Dean (Bud) Crum officiating.
Burial will be in the Conn Cemetery, Arkansas Creek, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Billie Mullins
Billie Mullins, 88, of Grethel, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home, Pikeville.
Born on September 28, 1911, in Grethel, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Roberts and Sallie Hamilton Roberts. She was a member of the Pilgrim's Home Regular Baptist Church.
Her husband, Burnis Mullins, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, James Mullins of Grethel, four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 14, at 10 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergymen, James Branham, Elisha Branham, and Troy Branham, officiating.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Billie Mullins were Tyler Mullins, Wess Mullins, Marty Hamilton, Junior Hamilton, Rodney Hamilton, Keith Hamilton, James Mullins and Marvin Tackett.
Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery, at Grethel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Magdalene Collins Hughes
Magdalene Collins Hughes, 67, of Honaker, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born on April 26, 1933, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Collins and Bessie Steel Collins. She was a member of the Honaker Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Hughes.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Hughes Jr. of Banner, Edgar Hughes of Dana; two daughters, Justine Kidd of Honaker, Debbie Akers of Martin; two brothers, Rick Collins of Betsy Layne, Eugene Collins of Wellington, Ohio; three sisters, Margaret Prater of Berea, Odessa Hughes of Honaker, Arcolis Smiley of Collins, Ohio, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 15, at 1 p.m., at the Honaker Church of Christ, with the clergymen, Frank Kidd Junior, Bennie Blankenship, and Richard Bowens, officiating.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Magdalene Collins Hughes were Shawn Hughes, Craig Hughes, Justin Hughes, Eric Hughes, Austin Hughes, Scott Collins, Gray Akers, Curt Dixon and Shannon Hunter.

Regenia May Hillman
Regenia May Hillman, 88, of Estill, died Wednesday, June 6, 2000, at the Walnut Creek Nursing, Kettering Ohio.
Born on May 7, 1912, in Tennesee, she was the daughter of the late F.B. Connors and Minnie Griffin Connors. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Estill.
She was twice married, first to Clarence F. Payne, and later to Henry Hillman. Both preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Chester Payne of Detroit, Michigan; one daughter, Billie Linebaugh of Florissant, Missouri; one brother, Ballard Connors of Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, with the Rev. Clinton Jones officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Hugh Mathis, Rick Linebaugh, Kevin Linebaugh, Eddie Payne, Bob Connors, Denzil Connors, Rick Connors and Tommy Sparkman.
Dottie Sowards Keene
Dottie Sowards Keene, age 66, of Pikeville died Thursday, June 8, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, due to an extended illness.
The daughter of Elmo Sowards Allen and Jack Sowards, she was born in Pike county on October 9, 1933.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, and step-father, Dan Allen. Survivors include her mother, Elmo Sowards Allen; spouse Lowell E. Keene; one daughter, Susan Butler, Davenport, Iowa; one sister, Judy Justice of Pikeville; two grandchildren, Matthew and Allison Butler of Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Paul Badgett. Visitation will be in the chapel after 4 p.m., Saturday.
Burial will be in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville.
Active pallbearers will be Miles Skeens, Rick Sallee, Mike Johnson, Jack Burchett, Robert William, Gary Lockhart, Ronnie McCoy, Danny Lockhart and Jackie Jones.
Ritzie Caudill
Ritzie Caudill, 74, of Martin, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born on March 9, 1926, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late James and Martha Caudill. He was a disabled coal miner, a member of the Old Time Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Mae Caudill.
He is survived by his second wife, Kathleen Clay Caudill.
Other survivors include two daughters, Sandra Carol Smith of Taylor, Michigan, Brenda Joyce Smith of Detroit, Michigan; four step-sons, Gregory Hall of Alexandra, Indiana, Bobby Hall of South Whitley, Indiana, Art Flannery of California, Ralph Flannery of Virgie; one grandson and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 11, at 10 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Denver Meade officiating.
Burial will be in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, McDowell, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
