Born on May 28, 1925, in Melvin, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rebecca Tackett. She was a member of the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church.
Her husband, Ranson Akers, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Akers of Melvin, and Andy Akers of Wheelwright; one daughter, Patsy Little of Hi Hat; two brothers, Oliver Tackett of Melvin and Elzie Tackett of Gahanna, Ohio; one sister, Gladys McKinney of Melvin; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m., at the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Henry Tackett Cemetery, in Melvin, with Jimmy Hall officiating.
Arrangements are under direction of R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
Geoffrey Todd Crace
Geoffrey Todd Crace, 33, of Allen, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at U.K. Medical Center, Lexington, following a motorcycle accident.
Born on June 13, 1966, in Battle Creek, Michigan, he was the son of Phyllis Smith Sellards of Allen, and the late Estill (Al) Crace Jr. He was a self-employed mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Bertram Crace.
Other survivors include one son, Brandon Todd Crace of Martin; two daughters, Gwendolyn Crace of Prestonsburg, Courtney Crace of Allen; three brothers, Gregory Scott Crace of Martin, Estill Chad Crace and Billy Ray Jarvis, both of Allen; one sister, and Gina Michelle Diskey of Allen.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 9, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Larry Adams and Randy Osborne officiating.
Burial will be in the Crace Family Cemetery, Calf Creek, Prestonsburg, under the direction of the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Fred Thompson
Fred Thompson, 64, of Peebles, Ohio, formerly of Wheelwright, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home, in Ohio.
Born on March 9, 1936, in Wheelwright, he was the son of the late George Thompson and Oma Hall Thompson. He retired from the United States Air Force, was a member of the American Legion, and a veteran of the Korean conflict and Vietnam era.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Hodge Thompson.
Other survivors include four sons, Fred Thompson, Keith Thompson, Larry Thompson, and Mark Thompson, all of Peebles, Ohio; two daughters, Loretta Henderson of Winchester, Ohio, Carrie Thompson of Lexington; two brothers, Tom Thompson of Kite, Ted Thompson of Stanville; one sister, Loretta Martin of Wayland; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 8, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergyman, Lonnie Badger, officiating.
Burial was in the Joe Hall Cemetery, at Dry Creek, Topmost, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Keith Thompson, Mark Thompson, Fred Thompson, Larry Thompson, George Thompson, Larry Dean Henderson, James Martin and Anthony Martin.
Timothy Andrew Bakay
Timothy Andrew Bakay, 38, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born on March 6, 1962, in McDowell, he was the son of the late Mike and Bonnie Graham Bakay.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Jones Bakay.
Other survivors include two sons, Timothy Andrew Bakay and Joseph Lee Bakay; one daughter, Sara Lasha Bakey; two brothers, Nicholas Bakay and Michael Allen Bakay; three sisters, Mary Louise Hall of Lacota, Michigan, Francis Jean Gardner of Lockport, Illinois, and Anna Hall of Weeksbury.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 6, at 2 p.m., at the Burton Pentecostal Church of God, with Lewis Sadlin, W.C. Willis, and others officiating.
Those serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Timothy Bakay were Tim Bakay II, Bill Jones, Roger Tackett, Joe Patton, Robert Hall, Chad Hall, Jason Tackett and David Cordial.
Burial was in the Buckingham Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Julia Hicks
Julia Hicks, 88, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Born on April 28, 1912, at Buckeye, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Nancy Johnson Slone. She was a member of the United Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Hicks.
Survivors include three sons, Jay Hicks of Mansfield, Ohio, Charles E. Hicks and Martin T. Hicks, both of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Nancy Adams of Prestonsburg; one brother, Elmond Slone of Hueysville, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 8, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Vernon Slone officiating.
Burial will be in the Hicks Family Cemtery, Middle Creek, Prestonsburg, under the direction of the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Lillie Hamilton Hammond, 84, of Martin, died Friday, June 2, 2000, in the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, following a brief illness.
Born on March 19, 1916, in McDowell, she was the daughter of the late Evan Hamilton and Della Mae Hamilton. She was a member of the Old Beaver Regular Baptist Church, at Minnie, co-owner and operator of the Hammond and Hamilton 5, 10 and up Department Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Hammond.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Martin Hammond; and one daughter, Reba Sue Hamilton, both of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Rutherford Hamilton of Cook Station, Missouri, John L. Hamilton of Newark, Delaware; one sister, Marie Hamilton Clark of Pikeville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 5, at 11 a.m., at the Old Beaver Regular Baptist Church, at Minnie, with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.

Anthony Scott Bowling
Anthony Scott Bowling, 23, of Wabash, Indiana, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at his residence.
Born November 5, 1976, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Earl Sparks and Ida Sparks. He was a factory worker.
Survivors other than his parents, include his paternal grandfather, Orion Sparks of Wabash, Indiana; his maternal grandmother, Bethel Bowling of Van Lear; and one sister, Helen Sparks of Wabash, Indiana.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 8, at 10 a.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, Wabash, Indiana, with Rev. Troy Trusty officiating.
Burial will be in the Falls Cemetery, Wabash, Indiana, under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Clara Brown
Clara Brown, 90, of Ada, Ohio, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at the Richland Manor Nursing Home in Bluffton, Ohio.
Born on June 12, 1910, in Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Benny and Margaret Baldridge. She was a member of the Lonesome Valley United Baptist Church of Alger, Ohio where she was a member for more than 40 years and served as deacon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Estel Brown.
Survivors include three sons, Russell Brown, Delmer Brown, and Estel Douglas Brown, all of Ada, Ohio; three daughters, Josephine Hackworth, Darlene Casper and Jane Robinson of Ada, Ohio; 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m., at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, Ohio, with Elder Amos Hackworth officiating.
Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery, Alger, Ohio, under the direction of Hanson-Neely Funeral Home.
