Christopher C. Derossett Sr., 76, of Peru, Indiana, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at the Howard Community Hospital, Kokomo, Indiana.
Born on May 28, 1924, in Prestonsburg, he was the son of the late Lum and Minnie Sizemore DeRossett. He was a retired TV and electronic repairman. He was a graduate of Prestonsburg High School and attended Louisville Electronics School; a US Navy World War II veteran, his decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Phillipian Liberation Medal.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher DeRossett Jr., of Fritch, Texas, Gregory DeRossett of Amarillo, Texas; three daughters, Cassandra Bainbridge of Sturgis, Michigan, Charlene Simpson Makin of Peru, Indiana, Arcella Harris of Howe, Indiana; three brothers, Fred of Pamona, California, Hillard of Martinsville, Indiana, Theodore of Prestonsburg; four sisters, Ruth Corbin of Louisville, Alka York of Delta, Ohio, Victoria Meade of Prestonsburg, Virginias Witt of Ashland; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 30, 11 a.m., at the Eikenbarry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru, Indiana, with Rev. Rick Stone officiating.
Burial will be in the Reyburn Cemetery, Peru, Indiana, under the direction of Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
Dr. William Gordon "Bill" Sargent
Dr. William Gordon "Bill" Sargent, 74, of Martin, died Monday, June 26, 2000, in Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
Born on June 12, 1926, in Hellier, he was the son of the late Oscar "Puney" Sargent and Garnet Sizemore Sargent. He was a practicing registered pharmacist and was continuing his 23-year practice as a licensed optometrist; he attended the Assembly of God, Martin; was a teacher of music at Betsy Layne High School; a private pilot; an associate professor at Southern College of Optometery, Memphis, Tennessee; he owned and operated Sargent Drug in Pikeville; and was a member of the RHO CHI Fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Sue Sargent.
Other survivors include one son, William "Will" Sargent of Waynesville, Ohio; three step-sons, Christopher Byron Reid and Kevin Lee Reid, both of Martin, Shawn Kiley Reid of Allen; three daughters, Deborah Sargent of Lutz, Florida, Stephanie Graves of Lexington, Cecilia Sargent of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Patricia McCoy of Pikeville; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted, Thursday, June 29, at 1 p.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergyman Lori Vannucci officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Will Sargent, Chris Reid, Kevin Reid, Burl Whitt, and Jay Stevens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tray Tackett and Tommy Spears.
Billy Wright
Billy Wright, 73, of Wheelwright, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at his residence, following a brief illness.
Born on April 29, 1927, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Sylvania Johnson Wright. He was a disabled coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Jane Staton Wright.
Other survivors include two sons, Tommy Wright of Paintsville and Barry Tackett of Richmond; three daughters, Sandy Thornsbury and Linda Johnson, both of Melvin, and Janice Jones of Wheelwright; six sisters, Pearly Bentley of Langley, Dorsie Johnson of Wheelwright, Jessie Lee Bentley, Genevia Holbrooks, and Millie Avalos all of Mentone, Indiana, and Gracie Shefflett of Virginia; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 27, at 2 p.m., at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church, with Louis Ferrari and Jacob Cline officiating.
Burial was in the Wright Cemetery, at Wheelwright, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Bernos Ousley
Bernos Ousley, 62, of Etna Green, Indiana, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in Valparaiso Care & Rehabitation Center.
Born on July 30, 1937, in Floyd County, he was the son of Alvin and Melvinia Pitts Ousley. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for 47 years, and worked at Da-Lite Screen Company Inc., Warsaw. He was a member of Pentecostal Lighthouse Church and Outreach Center, Warsaw, and the Quarter Century Club at Da-Lite Screen Co.
Survivors include three sisters, Nan Robinson of Prestonsburg, Magdalene Howard of Claypool, Indiana; and Berniece Coon of Decatur, Indiana; and four brothers, Homer Ousley of Pierceton, Indiana, Carson Ousley of Silver Lake, Indiana, Charles Ousley of Claypool, Indiana, and Carlos W. Ousley of Warsaw, Indiana.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 20, at Pentecostal Lighthouse Church & Outreach Center, Warsaw, with Pastors Don Gibson and Albert Whitaker officiating.
Burial was in Center Cemetery, Silver Lake, Indiana, under the direction of Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana.
Tilda Boyd Bentley
Tilda Boyd Bentley, 54, of Banner, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born on April 27, 1946, in Dana, she was the daughter of Earnest Boyd of Dana, and the late Geneva Newsome Boyd. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Crit Bentley.
Other survivors include two sons, Frank Bentley of Dwale, Jason Bentley of Dana; five brothers, Rocky Boyd, Cline Boyd and Franklin Boyd, all of Dana, Clyde Boyd of Banner, John H. Boyd of Cambridge, Ohio; six sisters, Ernestine Wakeland, and Josie Hall, both of Banner, Pat Layne of Betsy Layne, Lillian Nichols, Virginia Jacobsmeyer and Gennell Hall, all of Dana; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 28, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Burial will be in the Boyd Cemetery, Dana, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Russell Thornsbury
Russell Thornsbury, 72, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on January 23, 1928, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Morris and Mary Garrett Thornsbury. He was retired from the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Ivey Thornsbury.
Other survivors include one step-daughter, Lynda Garland Parsons of Springfield, Virginia; three brothers, Ralph (Hack) Thornsbury of Prestonsburg, Gary Thornsbury and Everett Thornsbury, both of Warsaw, Indiana; four sisters, Myrtle Potter of Prestonsburg, Hester Layne of Elizabethton, Tennessee, Ida Rose Ross of East Point and Lillian Blackburn of Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 28, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with a military chaplain officiating.
Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery, at Prestonsburg, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Delmer Keathley
Delmer Keathley, 86, of Galveston, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at his residence.
Born on March 3, 1914, at Toler Creek, at Harold, he was the son of the late Julie Yates and Joe Keathley. He was a retired carpenter and miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Keathley.
Survivors include four sons, Donald Keathley of Lorain, Ohio, James Keathley of Greensboro, North Carolina, Quentin Keathley of Asheboro, North Carolina, and Randolph Keathley of Lexington; four daughters, Joanna Adams and Phyllis Stevens, both of Southgate, Michigan, Lavonne Green of New London, Ohio, and Nadine Blankenship of Stanville; one brother, Ned Keathley of Wyandotte, Michigan; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 29, at 2 p.m., at the Betsy Layne Church of Christ, with Bennie Blankenship and Tommy Spears officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenbury Hall Cemetery, at Galveston, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Lindsey Henderson Stricklin
Lindsey Henderson Stricklin, 56, of Piedmont, South Carolina, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born at Little Paint, he was an employee of Huskey Construction and was a graduate of Prestonsburg High School.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Setser Stricklin.
Other survivors include one daughter, Sally McDuffie of Greenville, South Carolina; two sons, Michael Lindsey Striklin and Patrick Earl Stricklin, both of Piedmont, South Carolina; one brother, Jerry Stricklin of Prestonsburg, and eight grandchildren.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Piedmont, South Carolina.

Ailene Isaac Ulrich, 69, of Grovertown, Indiana, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at the Hospice Center of St. Joseph County, South Bend, Indiana, following an illness.
Born on August 17, 1930, in Weeksbury, the daughter of the late Shellie and Mae Collins Isaac.
She is survived by her husband, George Ulrich.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 13, at 2 p.m., in the Rannells Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Tom Padberg officiating.
