Lillie McSurley Jones, age 82, of McDowell, Ky., widow of Thomas J. Jones, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2001, at the Whitehouse Country Manor, Whitehouse, Oh., following a long illness.
She was born February 20, 1919, in Drift, Ky., the daughter of the late Ed McSurley and Rachel Daniels McSurley. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, McDowell, Ky.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Tommie Jean Perkins of Whitney City, Ky.; one brother, John McSurley of Whitehouse, Oh.; two half-brothers, William H. Combs of Baltimore, Oh., Robert Combs of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Audrey Rowe of Perrysburg, Oh., Exer Josephine Curtis of Holland, Oh., Willma Faye Martin of Minnie, Ky., and five grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Rodney Jones and Phillip Jones; three brothers, Eddie McSurley, Fred McSurley, Lee Curgis McSurley; one half-brother, Charles David Combs, and one sister, Ida Rose Meade.
Funeral services for Lillie McSurley Jones will be conducted Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergyman, Harry Hargis, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is after 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Judith Howard Carter
Judith Howard Carter, age 60, of Prestonsburg, Ky., passed away Thursday, October 18, 2001, at her residence.
She was born June 22, 1941, in Floyd County, Ky., the daughter of the late Ray Howard and Josephine Ellis Howard. She was a retired school teacher employed by the Floyd County school system. She was a graduate of Prestonsburg High School and received a Masters in Education from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, KEA, NEA, FCEA, KRTA, and was a member and served on the Board of Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church, Prestonsburg, Ky.
Survivors include one son, James Carter III, of Prestonsburg, Ky.; a god son, Jonathan Goble of Prestonsburg, Ky.; two daughters, Susan Raye Spurlock and Rebecca A. Carter, both of Prestonsburg, Ky.; three brothers, O.R. “Pete” Howard, Richard T. Howard, James F. Howard, all of Prestonsburg, Ky.; two grandchildren, Hannah Raye Spurlock and Catherine E. Spurlock, both of Prestonsburg, Ky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Mark Howard, and one grandchild, Caleb McKay Spurlock.
Memorial service for Judith Howard Carter were conducted Saturday, October 20, 2001, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Prestonsburg, Ky., with Reverend George Love officiating.
Arrangements were under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
The family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, and from 11:00 a.m., to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Prestonsburg, Ky.

Anna Mae McCall
Anna Mae McCall, age 81, of Tram, Ky., the wife of the late Roland McCall, passed away Friday, October 19, 2001, in the Riverview Health Care, Prestonsburg, Ky.
She was born December 25, 1919, in Tram, Ky., the daughter of the late Bill Wilson and Hester Jones Wilson. She was a retired cook for the C&O Railroad, and a member of the Tram Church of Christ, Tram, Ky.
Survivors include one nephew, Donnie Wilson of Albion, Mi.; one step-daughter, Anna Sue McCants of Coy, Ala.; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones; two daughters-in-law, Helen McCall of Amityville, N.Y., Alice McCall of Georgetown, Ky.; three sons-in-law, Willie B. McCants of Coy, Ala., Clyde Hughlett of Louisville, Ky., Andrew Freeze of Louisa, Ky.; 11 step-grandchildren, Elizabeth A. “Liz” Hayes, Corinthia S. Hayes, Daniel J. Hughlett and Patricia McCants, all of Atlanta, Ga., Kathryn L. Wilson of Xenia, Oh., Robert (Bobby) McCall of Amityville, N.Y., Yvonne McCall of Utah, Richard (Richie) McCall of New York, N.Y., Yolanda Hughlett of Louisville, Ky., Terry McCall of Georgetown, Ky., Birdie Woods of Amarillo, Tx.; 19 step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two step-sons, Robert Thomas McCall and William Taylor McCall; one step-daughter, Mamie Lucille Hughlett; one brother, Trimble Wilson; and one step-grandchild, Andrew S. Woods.
Funeral services for Anna Mae McCall will be conducted Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Tram Church of Christ, Tram, Ky., with the clergyman, Robert Adkins, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery, Tram, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.

Lowie Gene McKinney
Lowie Gene McKinney, 69, of Harold, Ky., died Thursday, October 18, 2001, following an extended illness.
Born on November 13, 1931, in Floyd County, Ky., he was the son of the late Frank and Laura Justice McKinney. He was a disabled miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janna Kaye Keathley McKinney.
Survivors include his special friend, Reva Salisbury of Harold, Ky.; one brother, Elva McKinney of Harold, Ky.; two sisters, Gladys Hamilton of Galveston, Ky., Mary Ann Hamilton of Harold, Ky.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Obra McKinney, Anthany McKinney, James McKinney, Lynn McKinney, and one sister, Maudene McKinney.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 21, 2001, at 1 p.m., at the Mothers Home Old Regular Baptist Church, at Harold, Ky., with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation will be at the Mothers Home Old Regular Baptist Church.
Pearl R. Carter
Pearl R. Carter, 92, of Pikeville, died Thursday, October 18, 2001, at the Prestonsburg Healthcare Center.
Born July 22, 1909, in Pike County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Gertrude Ray Robinson and Sol Robinson. She was a homemaker and member of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and Estill Lee Carter.
Survivors include two sons, Sam Carter of Pikeville, and Estill Lee Carter Jr. of Prestonsburg; four daughters, Estillene Adkins of Detroit, Mi., Kathryn Prater of Pikeville, Dorothy Wells of Prestonsburg, and Saundra Toussaint of Lexington; one brother, Edgar Robinson of Detroit, Mi.; two sisters, Violet Thacker of Detroit, Mi., and Daisy Johnson of Arizona; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Carter.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 21, 2001, at the J.W. Call Funeral Home, with Jerry Bliffen and Kaminski Robinson officiating.
Burial will be in the Johnson Memorial Park, under the direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be in the chapel, Saturday, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Arthur Lindsley Donnellan Jr.
Arthur Lindsley Donnellan Jr., age 74, of Teaberry, Ky., husband of Alpha Hamilton Donnellan, passed away Monday, October 15, 2001, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell, Ky.
He was born November 18, 1926, in Wheatley, Connecticut, the son of the late Arthur L. Donnellan and Elizabeth Ricker Donnellan. He was a retired former heavy equipment operator, a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Nicholasville, Ky., and a WWII Navy veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sandra Donnellan of Teaberry, Ky., Selma Adams of Raccoon, Ky.; one son, Wesley E. Donnellan of Bangor, Maine; three step-daughters, Amy Zapata of Honolulu, Hawaii, Patsy Adkins and Dicie Adkins, both of Frostburg, Md.; two step-sons, Jerry Adkins of Jackson, Mi., Benny Adkins of Betsy Layne, Ky.; one brother, Charlie Donnellan of San Pedro, Ca.; four sisters, Ann Brown of Groton, Vermont, Mary Lead of Canyon Country, Ca., Ginny Eberhard of Palm Springs, Ca., Beth Maybee of Fairport, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Skye Lindsley Adams and Wesley H. Donnellan, seven step-grandchildren, Denise Jones, Shawna Adkins, Leghann Adkins, Ashley Adkins, John Adkins, Tommy Adkins and Chip Hall.
Funeral services for Arthur Lindsley Donnellan Jr., were conducted Thursday, October 18, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Thomas Hamilton Cemetery, Teaberry, Ky., with the clergyman, Terry Hamilton, officiating, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Nayoma Samons Conn, 84, of Kimmell, In., formerly of Dana, Ky., widow of Gomer Conn, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2001, at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Avilla, In., following an extended illness.
She was born October 6, 1917, in Dana, Ky., the daughter of Grover Samons and Virgie Akers Samons. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, Arkansas Creek, Martin, Ky.
Survivors include four sons, Clifford Conn and Bernard Conn, both of Dana, Ky., Archer Conn of Martin, Ky., Clyde Conn of Kimmell, In.; six daughters, Alta Sutton of Stoh, In., Emma Lou Pemberton of Springfield, Ohio, Lola Feller of Kendallville, In., Ivalene Hall of Dana, Ky., Carol Crum of Allen, Ky., Sue Feller of Kendallville, Ind.; one brother, Norman Samons of Orange City, Fl., 31 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Grover Cleveland Conn; one daughter, Lillian V. Knox; two brothers, Hezzie Samons, and Ivory Samons; two sisters, Clara Conn and Dovie Samons.
