Joseph Caplinger
Joseph R. Caplinger, age 63, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2001, at VA Medical Center in Chillicothe.
He was born March 24, 1938, in Wellston to the late Rinard and Berdie Rowland Caplinger. He was a retired maintenance man from Ohio Stove in Jackson. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the Berlin Holiness Church.
He is survived by his long-time companion and friend Margie Marie Caplinger, Wellston; sister, Thelma Mae Tolliver, Jackson; nieces, Betty Tolliver, Wellston and Marie Taylor of Jackson; nephews, Joseph Tolliver, Jackson and Holly Tolliver, Florida; step-daughter, Dorothy Coleman, Jackson and step-son, Donnie Ray Robinson, Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Caplinger.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 31, at 11 a.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Searies officiating.
Burial to follow in Salem Cemetery with military graveside services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston. Calling hours: Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m.

James Charles “Charlie” Bumgardner
James Charles “Charlie” Bumgardner, 77, of Prestons-burg, Ky., died Monday, September 3, 2001, at Highlands Re-gional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Born February 12, 1924, in Floyd County, Ky., he was the son of the late Calvin Bumgardner and Edra Rice Griffith Bumgardner. He was a former security guard at Highlands Regional Medical Center, a lifetime member of the D.A.V., and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie Hamilton Bumgardner.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Setser of East Point; three sons, Charles Arthur Bumgardner, of Lexington, Mike Bumgardner and Richard Bumgardner, both of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Larry Joe Griffith of Lovington, N.M.; one sister, Maudie Howell of Lovington, N.M.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 6, at 1 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg, with Pastor Charles Heater Jr. officiating.
Interment will be at Richmond Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. Military graveside service will be conducted by the Big Sandy Chapter No. 18, D.A.V.

Mable Louise (Johnson) Gibson Macintosh
Mable Louise (Johnson) Gibson Macintosh, 80, of Prestonsburg, died Thursday, August 30, 2001, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
She was born September 5, 1920, at Risner to the late Henry and Pearl (Carson) Johnson. She was the head cook at Prestonsburg Elementary School and widow of Everett Gibson, her first husband and later J.W. Macintosh.
She is survived by: two sons, Lon Clay “Shanks” Gibson and Johnny Everett Gibson, both of Prestonsburg; two daughters, Loretta Allen and Stella Music, both of Auxier; three brothers, Fred Johnson, George Johnson and Henry Johnson, Jr. all of Prestonsburg; three sisters, Vivian Tussey and Goldie Justice, both of Prestonsburg and Evelyn Gardner of Tippercanoe, In.; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2001, at 2 p.m., at the Burke Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Van West officiating.
Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery in Prestonsburg.
Visitation will begin on Friday, August 31, 2001, at 3 p.m. and continue after 10 a.m. on Saturday.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Burke Funeral Home of Prestonsburg.

Carl Edward Tackett
Carl Edward Tackett, age 71, of Gahanna, Ohio, formerly of Ligon, Ky., died Sunday, August 26, 2001, at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Tackett.
Other survivors include one son, Dean (Cindy) Tackett; one daughter, Robn (Tom) Caminiti; brothers and sisters, Roy (Gladys), Pearl, Jim, Hiram, Dorph (Lorena), JoAnn (Willie), Gorman (Ann), James (Joan); sisters-in-law Ruth, Carol (Darold), Cheryl (Jerry), Phyllis and Judy; grandchildren, Shane, Carlie (Steve), Kyle and Ryan; great grandchildren, Kylee, Kennedy, Devon, McKennah, Cameron, and Chase; adopted granddaughter, Kate; many nieces and nephews.
He retired from Columbus Coated Fabrics in March 1992, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. His biggest enjoyments in life were his grand and great-grandchildren who were very special to him. He was their No. 1 sports fan. He also enjoyed his old timers bowling league and retirement club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Garnet Tackett; brothers, Clyde and Sterlin; and by in-laws, Vanis and Arie Caudill.
Funeral services will be held, 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2001, at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (on U.S. Route 62, 1/2 mile northeast of Hamilton Rd.), Gahanna.
Interment will be in the Plumwood Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions in his memory, to Hospice of Columbus, 181 Washington Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Charley Hall
Charley Hall, 87 years old, of Melvin, Ky., died Friday, August 17, 2001.
Born Feb. 2, 1914, he was the son of the late Marion (Monk) and Cora Hall.
He is survived by three daughters, Nadeen Fitzgerald of Somerset, Ky., Brenda Stacy (Ray) and Shirley Helton (Jimmy), both of Vansant, Va.; five grandchildren, James, Mark, Penny, Lisa and Dedra, and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 19, 2001, at 2 p.m.
Burial was in the Matthew Tackett Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Ed McCarty, Mark Collins, James Collins, Kyle Collins, Brandon Collins, Ray Stacy, Jimmy Helton, Rocky Cole, and Julius Mullins.
He leaves a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.

Hamie Wills Warrix
Hamie Wills Warrix, 92, of Prestonsburg, Ky., died Saturday, August 18, 2001, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Born on March 16, 1909, at Water Gap, Ky., she was the daughter of Richard Wills and Mary Bingham Wills. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Town Branch Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Warrix.
Survivors include one son, Newell Chase Warrix of Warsaw, Ind.; two daughters, Helena Nelson of Prestonsburg, Ky., Belva Sue Hall of Pierceton, Ind.; two sisters, Goldie Calhoun of Water Gap, Ky., and Rubell Fields of Titasville, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sons, Add Warrix, Theodore Warrix, Riley Hall Warrix, and two infant sons; two daughters, Pauline Chisenhall, one infant daughter; one brother, Bill Wills; three sisters, Lula Wallen, Darcus Lafferty, and Josie Wallen.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 21, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., with Tom Nelson officiating.
Burial was in the Richmond Cemetery, Prestonsburg, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Clara Mae Dooley
Clara Mae Dooley, age 78, of Eastern, Ky., wife of the late Worley Dooley, passed away Friday, August 24, 2001, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital, Martin, Ky.
She was born August 2, 1923, in Knott County, Ky., the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Patton Moore. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Bee Baldridge of Eastern, Ky.; two daughters, Rosetta Hall of Jeff, Ky., and Ethel Green of In.; three brothers, John, Joe and Clarence Moore, all of Mousie, Ky.; one sister, Hester Patton of Hindman, Ky.; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2001, at the Ball Branch Old Regular Baptist Church, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial followed in the Moore-Bolen Cemetery, Ball Branch, Ky., under the care of Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation was at the church.
Pallbearers: Bubby Hall, Ivan Gunnells, Tony Conley, Scott Smith, David Green, and Melissa Smith.
