Dwayne Carroll, 48, of Printer, Ky., died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at his residence, following a sudden illness.
Born on February 19, 1953, at Printer, Ky., he was the son of the late Virgil and Ollie Meade Carroll. He was a disabled coal miner, and a member of the Trinity Chapel, Martin, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Carroll.
Other survivors include one son, Gregory Dwayne Carroll of Harold, Ky.; one daughter, Jennifer L. Carroll of Grethel, Ky.; one one half brother, Denzil Humble of Pickney, Mich.; two sisters, Juanita Conn and Patricia Conn, both of Printer, Ky.; one granddaughter, Jasmine L. Carroll.
He was preceded in death by two half brothers, James Milton Humble, and Ivan Carroll.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 29, 2001, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Burial will be in the Meade Cemetery, Printer, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Robert Daniel “Danny” Frazier
Robert Daniel “Danny” Frazier, age 50, passed away July 5, 2001, in Talent, Oregon. He is the grandson of the late Claude Adkins and Ola Jane Bentley Adkins of Allen, Ky.
Survivors include his mother, Nola Jean Campbell, and step-father, Cultus Campbell of Sparta, Tennessee; one brother, Keith Campbell of Manteca, California; two sisters, Kelly Campbell of Sparta, Tennessee, and Mona Gouveia of Mesa, Arizona; one niece, Sarabeth Gouveia of Mesa, Az.; one one nephew, Caleb Campbell of Sparta, Tennessee; and one great-niece, Charlott Gouveia of Mesa, Arizona.
Funeral services were held in Oregon, July 14, 2001, with Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Michael Bentley
Kenneth Michael Bentley, infant son of Kenneth Lee and Wanetta Thornsberry Bentley, passed away, Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at the Paul B. Hall Medical Center, Paintsville, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Charles A. and Angelina Jones Bentley of Mallie, Ky.; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Marrietta Griffith Thornsberry of Kite, Ky.; two brothers, Lonnie Charles Brandon Bentley, and Jacob Nathaniel Bentley; and one sister, Angel Marie Bentley, all of Kite, Ky.
Funeral services were conducted, Thursday, July 26, 2001, 11 a.m., at the Stone Coal Regular Baptist Church, Garrett, Ky., with Regular Baptist Ministers officiating.
Burial followed in the Family Cemetery at Kite, Ky., under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation was Wednesday, at the church.
Viola Black
Viola Black, 91, of Southland Dr., London, Ky., died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Clark Regional Medical Center.
Born July 14, 1910, in Laurel County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Charles Cook and China Cook Moore. She was a member of Cornith Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Black.
Survivors include one son, C. J. McNally of Prestonsburg, Ky.; three grandchildren, Charla Burchett of Sarasota, Florida, Cindra Burchett of Winchester, Ky., and Kipley McNally of Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 27, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. James Blaylock and Rev. Denvis Rush officiating.
Burial will be in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Cemetery, London, Ky., under the direction of Bowling Funeral Home.

Bill Gardner
Bill Gardner, 68, of Howe, Indiana, formerly of Floyd County, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at LaGrange Community Hospital.
He was born September 15, 1932, in Wise County, Va., the son of William and Rachael Mitchell Gardner. He was a production worker in the RV industry.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Billy E. and Misti Gardner of Howe; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Earl Himes of Howe; three grandchildren; and four sisters, Oma Moore of Kingsport, Tenn., Una Gardner, Jeanette Fitzpatrick and Bonnie Gibson, all of Prestonsburg, Ky.
Visitation was Wednesday, at Shoup-Carney-Frost Funeral Home, in Howe.
Services were conducted Thursday, July 19, at the funeral home, and burial was in Brighton Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the LaGrange County Cancer Society.
Shoup-Carney-Frost Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Judy Hall Hamilton
Judy Hall Hamilton, 61, of Teaberry, Ky., died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, Ky., following an extended illness.
Born on November 14, 1939, in Floyd County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rhoda Mitchell Hall. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Troy Hamilton.
Other survivors include four daughters, Janice Hamilton and Jerrell Swain, both of Teaberry, Ky., Teresa Winkle of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sharon Kay Newman of Grethel, Ky.; two brothers, John Hall and Bobby Hall, both of Teaberry, Ky.; three sisters, Bessie Hall, Estaline Newsome and Irene Williams, all of Teaberry, Ky.; and 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Alex Hall.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 22, 2001, at 10 a.m., at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church, Teaberry, Ky., with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in the Hollybush Cemetery, Teaberry, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation was at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church.
Sam Fitzpatrick
Sam Fitzpatrick, 79, of Prestonsburg, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was born September 16, 1922, at Prestonsburg, a son of the late Penn and Margaret (Stanley) Fitzpatrick. He was a road foreman for the Floyd County Road Department, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Steven H. Fitzpatrick of Prestonsburg and David M. Fitzpatrick of Boston, Ma.; one daughter, Lenora Margaret Kendrick of Prestonsburg; two sisters, Margaret Marshall of Titusville, Fl., and Jessie Brewer of Alhambra, Ca.; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ike Fitzpatrick, and four sisters, Bess West, Stella Spurlock, Garnet Spurlock, and Dorothy (Dot) Marshall.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2001, at 1 p.m., at the Burke Funeral Home of Prestonsburg, with graveside services following at the Fitzpatrick Cemetery at Middle Creek.
Contributions may be made in his honor to the Heart and Kidney Foundation.
Ola Howard
Ola Howard, age 74, of Eastern, Ky., widow of Gold Howard, passed away Monday, December 24, 2001, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky., following an extended illness.
She was born February 8, 1928, in Rock Fork, Ky., the daughter of the late Elbert Cox and Minnie Stamper Cox. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salt Lick United Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Howard and Ronnie Howard, both of Eastern, Ky.; one daughter, Kathy Cornette of Douglasville, Ga., 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry Howard; one brother, Hodley Cox; two sisters, Ova Coburn and Osa Grigsby.
Funeral services for Ola Howard were conducted, Thursday, December 27, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergyman, Gary Mitchell, officiating.
Burial followed in the Gold Howard Family Cemetery, Garrett, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
