Pearlie Mae Keens, age 57, of Melvin, wife of Clifford Hall, passed away Friday, June 13, 2003, in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born May 6, 1946, in Ligon, the daughter of the late Luther Keens and Ella Younce Keens. She was a homemaker.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, Curtis Joe (Lavaughn Marie) White of Taylor, Michigan; five brothers, Carl Keens and Troy Keens, both of Detroit, Michigan, Buck Keens and Ralph Keens, both of Melvin, and Eugene Keens of Martin; one sister, Shirley Caudill of Melvin; two grandchildren, Shane Michael White and Stephanie Michelle White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph White; one son, Joe Allen White; and two brothers, James Keens and Clifford Keens.
Funeral services for Pearlie Mae Keens were conducted Tuesday, June 17, at 11 a.m., at the Joppa Regular Baptist Church, at Melvin, with elders of the Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in the Painter Harve Cemetery, at Melvin, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, at Martin.
Visitation was at the church.
Joe William Back
Joe William Back, age 37, of Paintsville, formerly of Morehead, died Friday, June 13, in the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
He was born October 23, 1965, in Morehead, a son of the late John K. and Joan Kegley Back. Joe was a graduate of Rowan County High School, Morehead, a sales representative for Clark Grave Valut’s Eastern Ky. District, a former sports announcer for WDOC, Prestonsburg, and WSGS, Hazard radio stations, a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and former employee of Hall Funeral Home, Martin, and a member of the East Point Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include one brother, Stephen Back (Brenda) of O’Fallon, Illinois; one sister, Martha B. Jackson (Ron) of Danville; three nephews, Ryan Lawrence of Dry Ridge, Andrew Back of Erwin, Texas, and Graham Jackson of Danville; and one niece, Emma Jackson of Danville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John K. Back.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m., in the Brown Cemetery, at Morehead.
Visitation was from 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Monday, at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, with church services at 7 p.m., Arnold Turner officiating.

Lekita Jo Johnson
Lekita Jo Johnson, 18, of Bevinsville, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Bevinsville.
Born November 14, 1984, in Pikeville, she was the daughter of Billy Joe Johnson of Bevinsville, and Lekita K. Conn Johnson of Ivel. She was a graduate of South Floyd High School; had attended the University of Kentucky, and had enrolled in Prestonsburg Community College.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Bill and Jimmie Lou Reed Johnson of Bevinsville; maternal grandparents, Charles (Bob) and Bea Salisbury Conn of Ivel; two brothers, William Jason Johnson, and James Hunter Johnson, both of Bevinsville; goddaughter of Hester Bowling Johnson of Bevinsville; two nephews, Conner and Braley Johnson; one niece, Shelby Higgins; and a special friend, Christy Johnson.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Harley Joseph Johnson.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 17, at 11 a.m., at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church at Bypro, with Rev. Louis Ferrari, and others, officiating.
Burial was in the Buckingham Cemetery, at Bevinsville, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was at the church.
Bill Ray Collins
Bill Ray Collins, Prestonsburg City Councilman, passed away, June 14, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, at 68 years of age.
William (Bill) Ray Collins was born September 4, 1934, in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was the son of Margaret Dingus Collins and the late Ray Collins.
He was the owner of Billy Ray’s Restaurant, a member of the First Baptist Church, and was a member of Prestonsburg City Council for 18 years. He was Amateur Softball Association Commissioner for 20 years, a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 293, Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Survivors inlcude his beloved companion, Lois Baldridge of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; four daughters, Jerra Rae Collins Campbell of West Liberty, Kentucky, Margaret (Margo) Elizabeth Collins of Morehead, Kentucky, Terry Lynn Ison of Martin, Kentucky, and Lisa Ann Williamson of Pikeville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Ann Bradley of St. Cloud, Florida, and a special friend and partner, Lee and Sheila Collins of Auxier, Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, June 16, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Floyd Price and Randy Polk officiating.
Burial was at the Porter Cemetery.

Billie Ruth Wilcox
Billie Ruth Wilcox, 71, died Sunday, June 8, at home.
She was born May 3, 1932, in Floyd County, the daughter of the late Frank and Mollie Music Burchett. She was a retired school teacher. She is survived by her husband, Ursal Ray Wilcox, and one niece, Antoinette Venables of Florida.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ursal Ray Wilcox Jr., and one sister, Tommie Music.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 10, at 11 a.m., at the Auxier Methodist Church in Auxier, with Garfield Potter officiating.
Burial followed in the Wilcox Family Cemetery in Auxier, under the direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.
Eleanor Spurlock Horn
Eleanor Spurlock Horn, 88, of Prestons-burg, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born July 9, 1914, in Amey, West Virginia, she was the daughter the late Silas Spurlock and Hulda Anna Cassell Spurlock. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, and Chancel Choir member for 60 years, Daughters of the American Revolution, and served as Regent of John Graham Chapter, Prestonsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Raymond Horn on March 22, 1995. They were married
November 25, 1931.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Horn Fannin of Inverness, Florida, and Carlos E. Horn Wells of Paintsville; three grandchildren, Dianna Alley Stephens of West Jordan, Utah, Charles B. Wells of Georgetown, and Michael Salley of Saint Louis, Missouri; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Walz and Rev. Quentin Scholtz officiating.
Interment will be in Porter Cemetery, Prestonsburg.

Patrick H. Clark
Patrick H. Clark, 67, of Prestonsburg, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Prestonsburg, following an extended illness.
Born November 20, 1935, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Gooden and Goldie Collins Clark. He was a retired carpenter and member of the Daniels Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clorena Collins Clark.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Irvin Clark of Indiana, and James Dean Clark of Florida; one brother, James B. Clark of Paintsville; five sisters, Elizabeth Little of Blaine, Hazel Zenz of Slidell, Louisiana, Carolyn Harkness of Freemont, Ohio, Onda Harkness of Slidell, Louisiana, and Patsy Marsillett of Prestonsburg; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Clark and one brother, Robert Clark.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 19, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, at Martin, with Jimmy Brown and Shane Powers officiating.
Burial will be in the Auxier Relocation Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Rona Nadine Triplett
Rona Nadine Triplett, age 37, of Hi Hat, wife of Michael Triplett, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2003, in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born July 16, 1965, in Lexington, the daughter of the late Pearl Nadine Bartley, and William Bartley of Hi Hat. She was a tax preparer for H & R Block.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, Owen Michael Triplett of Hi Hat; maternal grandmother, Gracie Newman of Hi Hat; one brother, Ronald Glenn Bartley of Hi Hat; an uncle, Richard Newman; an aunt, Anna Belle Goble; two nieces, Savannah and Serena Bartley.
Funeral services for Rona Nadine Triplett were conducted Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m., at the Church of God of Prophecy, at Hi Hat, with Don Fraley officiating.
Burial was in the Newman Cemetery, at Hi Hat, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
