Robert Harold “Bob” Click, age 71, of Betsy Layne, husband of Edith Faye Goble Click, passed away, Monday, June 16, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
He born July 23, 1931, in Catlettsburg, the son of the late Joseph Click and Mary Hurd Click. He was retired from the Wayne Supply Company, a Korean War Army veteran, a member, deacon, and superintendent of Sunday School, at the Tom’s Creek Freewill Baptist Church, at Ivel.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Edith, include one son, Randall Click of Betsy Layne; three daughters, Tina Hall and Kim Bailey, both of Ivel, and Anita Click of Betsy Layne; one sister, Ruth Dotson of Oak Hill, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brandon Click, Ashley Click, Derek Hall, and Zachary Bailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Joe Click.
Funeral services for Robert Harold “Bob” Click will be conducted Thursday, June 19, at 1 p.m., at the Tom’s Creek Freewill Baptist Church, at Ivel, with Clergymen Chuck Ferguson and James Harmon officiating.
Burial will be follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Geraldine Orsborn
Geraldine Orsborn, age 63, of Brohard Road, Ray, Ohio, passed away, at Ohio State University Hospital, Colum-bus, Ohio, on Wednesday, June 11, 2003.
She was born in Floyd County, Kentucky, on December 8, 1939, to the late George and Flora (Meade) Newman.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Larry Newman and Hobert Newman.
She is survived by her husband, Rex Orsborn; four daughters, Florah Deann Tackett, Debrah Lynn McCumber, Sherry Ann Oiler, all of Jackson, Ohio; and Betty Jean Waugh of Crown City, Ohio; two sons, Mark Shawn Orsborn of Jackson, and Rex Dean Orsborn of Bevinsville, Ky.; five sisters, Aileen Franks of Haleyville, Alabama, Glenda Bucki of Southgate, Michi-gan, Georgia Quesenberry of Louisa, Ky., Pearl Booth and Linda Bradley of Catletts-burg, Ky.; three brothers, Russell Newman of McDowell, Ky., Berman Newman of Bevinsville, Ky., and Wendell Newman of Ashland, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m., at the Mayhhew Funeral Home, Jackson, Ohio.
Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Delmon Tackett
Delmon Tackett, age 76, of Franklin, Ohio, formerly of McDowell, husband of Ruth Daniels Tackett, passed away, Monday, June 9, 2003, at his residence in Ohio.
He was born October 21, 1926, in McDowell, the son of the late Marvin Tackett and Frances Bentley Tackett. He was a Millwright for the Millwright Union, a World War II Army veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Clearcreek United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one son, Randy Dale Tackett of Franklin, Ohio; one daughter, Sharon K. Murry of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Bessie Jean Sharp of Miamisburg, Ohio; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Denzil Tackett, and Glenn Tackett; and one sister, Joann Tackett.
Funeral services for Delmon Tackett will be conducted Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergymen Jimmy Estep, Albert King, and Elbert Howard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, at McDowell, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.

Joe Meade
Joe Meade, 79, of Printer, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital, in Martin.
He was born June 26, 1923, in Printer, the son of the late James Madison and Mandy Elliott Meade. He was a retired auto worker, a member of the Church of Christ at Spurlock, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a past commander and member of DAV Chapter 128 of Garrett.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Frances Salisbury Meade.
Other survivors include two sons, Glenn Meade of Mt. Sterling, and Jerry Meade of Jackson, Michigan; three daughters, Teresa Rose of Catlettsburg, Audrey Hass of Three Rivers, Michigan, and Judy Gleason of Martin; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Meade, and Bill Meade and three sisters, Sally Hall, Ollie Carroll, and Margaret Meade.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 13, at 1 p.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Bill Meade and Bruce Coleman officiating.
Burial will be in the Meade Cemetery at Printer, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Henry T. (Flying Eagle) Layne
Henry T. (Flying Eagle) Layne, 83, of Dinwood, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born February 24, 1920, in Alphoretta, (Dinwood), he was the son of the late Alma L. Dingus. He had been an ordained minister since 1939, a member of the U.S. Army prior to the Pearl Harbor attack. He served in the South Pacific Theater of Operations from Tongatabu through the Coral Sea Engagement to Guadalcanal, and throughout the Solomon Islands. He received a battlefield commission at the rating of Captain, promoted to the rank of major, and was transferred to Keelser Air Force Base in Mississippi as Lt. Colonel, to begin and complete pilot training for the soon-to-be formed U.S. Air Force as a separate military unit, under the U.S. Defense Department. Upon completion of the U.S.A.F. pilot training, he was transferred to many U.S.A.F. bases, and overseas as wing commander, ultimately attaining promotions into the rank of Major General, and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations as Supreme Commander of all Allied Forces, prior to retirement. He received his AB, MS, and PHD in fields of Aeronautical Engineering, with degrees in five separate fields.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie (Little Dove) Layne.
Survivors include one brother, Earl Lee Layne of Kennesaw, Georgia; three sisters, Joanna Smith Isaac of Dinwood, Judy Layne Akers of Stamping Ground, and Rosemary Layne Clark of Betsy Layne.
In addition to his wife and mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Butch (Little Eagle) Layne and a sister, Marcella Ward, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 8, at 1 p.m., at the Drift Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Ted Shannon officiating.
Burial was in the Dinwood Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was at the church.
Lola (Pat) Newsome
Lola (Pat) Newsome, 52, of Teaberry, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born February 28, 1951, in Tram, she was the daughter of Gartha McClure Stewart of Tram, and the late Charles Stewart. She was a homemaker and a member of the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Newsome.
Other survivors include a son, Charles Newsome of Teaberry; two daughters, Shelia Newsome and Stephanie Newsome, both of Teaberry; four brothers, Paul Stewart of Ivel, and Tommy Stewart, Kent Stewart and Kenneth Stewart, all of Tram; four sisters, Glenna Faye Stewart of Tram, Judy Adkins of Nankin, Ohio, Ilene Clark of Harold, and Darlene Collins of Drift; and nine grandchildren.
In addition to his father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex Stewart and Charles Edward Stewart.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 11, at noon, at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Tracy Patton officiating.
Burial will be in the Stewart Cemetery at Tram.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Callia Simmons Branham
Callia Simmons Branham, 87, of 4826 West 6th Street, Greeley, Colorado, died November 11, 2002, after an extended illness.
She was born in Floyd County, Kentucky, on April 30, 1915. She was the daughter of John and Lona Nelson Simmons.
Callia graduated from Prestons-burg High School in 1932, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Masters in Education from University of Kentucky. She began her teaching career at Dwale, and following that she taught at Arkansas Creek in Kentucky.
Callia married
Jay Branham, and to that union was born one son, Paul Henry Branham. During World War II, Jay was killed in action.
In 1950, Callia went to Michigan to teach, and remained there ten years. In 1960, she went to California and taught in elementary schools, which was her specialty, for the remainder of her career.
She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Callia is survived by her son, Paul Henry, of Greeley, Colorado; one granddaughter, Janet Marie Branham Sullivan, and her husband, John Sullivan, and their two daughters, Amanda and Danielle Sullivan, all of Greeley, Colorado; one grandson, Jay Monroe Branham, and his wife, of Greeley, Colorado.
Surviving are two sisters, Ethel Marie Patton of San Diego, California, and Margaret Ackerman of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Margarella Branham Simmons of Huntington, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Stella Branham Hall, and her husband, Troy Hall, of Somerset, Kentucky. Other survivors are nieces and nephews and many friends.
Callia was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Paul Wheeler Simmons.
A memorial service will take place at Richmond Memorial Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2003.

Joey Boling
Joey Boling, age 55, of Lackey, passed away, Monday, June 9, 2003, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.
He was born May 18, 1948, in Lackey, the son of Gladys Robertson Boling of Lackey, and the late Paul Boling. He was a general secretary for the Floyd County Fiscal Court.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys; one son, Brandon Boling of Prestonsburg; one sister, Paula Gayheart of Winchester; and one grandson, Trenton Paul Boling.
Funeral services for Joey Boling will be conducted Thursday, June 12, at noon, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergymen Arnold Turner Jr., and Robert Marshall officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
