Jobie Puckett, 88, of Ky. Rt. 114, Pres-tonsburg, died Sun-day, June 8, 2003, at his residence.
Born June 19, 1914, in Myrtle, (Floyd County), he was the son of the late Harrison Puckett and Eva Holbrook Puckett. He was a coal miner for Princess Elkhorn Coal Company, at David, for 28 years. He was a member of the Chestnut Grove United Baptist Church since 1974, and was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Prater Puckett. They were married
for 67 years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Virginia P. Greene of Prestonsburg; one granddaughter, Brenda Ratliff of Prestonsburg; two great-grandchildren, Tommy Greene and Teddy Ratliff.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 11, at 11 a.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg, with Elder Ruben Lykins and Elder Chester Adkins officiating.
Interment will be in the Ruben Prater Cemetery, Prestonsburg.
Carter Funeral Home is serving the Puckett family.
David Osborne
David Osborne, age 76, of Okeechobee, Florida, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
He was a retired electrician, and a member of U.M.W.A. Local Union 5899 of Wheelwright.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Caleb Austin Nelson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of more than 56 years, Helen Osborne of Okeechobee, Florida; one son, Larry David Osborne of West Palm Beach, Florida; Linda Diane King of St. Cloud, Florida, Lou Deborah (Chip) Branham of Okeechobee, Florida; three grandchildren, Brett David Osborne, Kim Branham Nelson, and Chris Branham; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John C. Osborne of Miamitown, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Funeral services were conducted at the Buxton Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 30, at 10 a.m., with the Reverend Eddie Lamb, Pastor of Bethel Assembly of God, officiating.
Burial followed at the Evergreen Cemetery, Okeechobee, Florida.
Pallbearers: Larry David Osborne, Brett David Osborne, Chris Branham, “Chip” Branham, Dana King, and Billy Nelson.
Winnie C. Dingus
Winnie C. Dingus, age 86, of Martin, widow of Walter Clyde Dingus Sr., passed away, Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
She was born April 5, 1917, in Carr Creek, the daughter of the late Chad Calton and Ada Taylor Calton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church, at Printer.
Survivors include five sons, Walter Clyde Dingus Jr., Wilton Everett Dingus and Charles Wesley Dingus, all of Martin, Mark H. (Sally) Dingus of Payne, Ohio, and Thomas O. (Cathy) Dingus of Clintwood, Virginia; four daughters, Doris Evelyn Dingus of Martin, Lenora Mae (Zion) Swetnam of Birmingham, Alabama, Marlene Elizabeth (Jerry) Soard of Des Moines, Iowa and Dollie Wray Dingus of Danville, Illinois; one brother, Hargis Calton of Indian River, Florida; one sister, Lilly Blevins of Hot Springs, Colorado; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildrenh.
In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Chad Dingus, and one grandchild, Donna Dingus.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 11, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergyman Bobby Lawson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dingus Cemetery, at Martin, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Teresa Lynn Thacker
Teresa Lynn Thacker, 36, of Harold, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at her residence.
Born July 13, 1966, in Pikeville, she was the daughter of Charles and Towana Akers Frasure of Harold. She was a substitute teacher, and a member of the United Christian Church at Hi Hat.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Davis Thacker.
Other survivors include a sister, Chandrea Taylor of Harold; two nephews, Brandon Taylor and Shawn Taylor; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 9, at 1 p.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Ted Shannon and Bill Slone officiating.
Burial was in the Lee Alley Family Cemetery, at Galveston, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Everett “Ed, ” “Dr. Furr” Campbell
Everett “Ed, ” “Dr. Furr” Campbell, 66, of Hamilton, Illinois, died at 4:44 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his home in Hamilton.
He was born on March 5, 1937, in Ary, Ky., the son of Willard and Sadie Campbell. He married
Barbara Schrader of Yorkville, Oho, in 1960.
Survivors include: his mother of Allen, Ky.; two daughters, Judith Thompson of Berger, Mo., and Jennifer Campbell (and Steve) Schlicher of Hamilton; a son, Kenneth “Zack” Campbell of Keokuk; grandsons, Mac Schlicher and Jed Schlicher; granddaughter, Sydney AnnMarie Campbell; siblings, Stuart (and Evalee) Campbell of Florida, Cultus (and Jean) Campbell of Tennessee, Burt (and Betty) Campbell of Florida, Willena (and French) Campbell of Kentucky, Aileen (and Don) Bates of Florida, Pauline Maciorowski of Ohio; companion and her children, Beverly Miller of Keokuk, Lance and Teresa Miller and family of Waukee and Kevin and Deneen Lopez and their son, Andrew of Keokuk; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Curt Campbell and Bernie Campbell; and a grandson, Jarrod Michael Thompson.
After high school graduation, Mr. Campbell worked in Tennessee and Kentucky.
In 1958, he started working as a boilermaker with a company in Chicago. He moved his family to Hamilton in 1966 for a job in Niota, Ill.
In 1973, he joined the Boilermakers Union #83 of Kansas City, Mo.
Throughout the years, his work had taken him to nuclear power plants in Cordova and Byron, Ill., Monroe, Mich., and Geneva, Wis. He also helped build a plant in Palo.
After 39 years of boilermaking, he retired in April of 1996.
Mr. Campbell owned and operated Campbell Mobile Home Park in Hamilton. When purchased, the nine acre park had nine lots. He expanded and made improvements to the park, completing it with a total of 17 acres with 83 lots.
He had completed all phases of the Masons: Chapter, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shriner’s. He served as Master of Blue Lodge, and for five years as Secretary.
Mr. Campbell was an avid Hamilton Cardinal sports fan. He also followed the Chicago Cubs.
He was a member of Deer Run Golf Course, serving on the board of directors for 12 years in many capacities, including president. In 1991, 1992 and 1993, he tried out for the Senior, United States Golf Association and enjoyed playing many good courses. In 1994, he played in 126 golf tournaments within the surrounding area. He celebrated a hole-in-one on June 30, 2002.
He acted in a $14 million movie of the Mormon Church, playing a preacher.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially, his grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 29, at the United Methodist Church in Hamilton, with the Rev. Mark Horn offficiating.
Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Hamil-ton.
Visitation was Wednes-day, May 28, at Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, by Blackhawk Masonic Lodge at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Mac Schlicher, Jed Schlicher and Sydney Campbell’s Education Fund; to Deer Run Golf Course for improvement of Green #7; or to Hancock County Blessing Hospice.
Cornealis Ousley
Cornealis Ousley, 67, of Martin, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center at Prestonsburg.
Born August 4, 1935, in Risner, he was the son of Rosie Campbell Ousley of Martin, and the late Oscar Ousley. He was a retired coal miner; and a member of U.M.W.A. Local Union 1741 at Wayland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Emma Johnson Ousley.
Other survivors include three sons, Donnie Ousley and David Randell Ousley, both of Prestonsburg, and Danny Ousley of Martin; one daughter, Phyllis Gamel of Prestonsburg; four brothers, Miley Ousley of Warsaw, Indiana, and Delano Ousley, Beecher Ousley, and Dormal Ousley, all of Martin; three sisters, Mavis Hicks of Eastern, Alma Jean Kost of Cleveland, Ohio, and Bonnie Condors of Winchester; five grandchildren, Rachael, LaDonna, David Lee, Shawn and Danielle; and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Savannah, Chase and Abigail.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 4, at 1 p.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Rev. Jerry Manns and others officiating.
Burial will be in the Johnson-Hubbard Cemetery, Spurlock Road, Prestonsburg, under direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Denver Spurlock
Denver Spurlock, 61, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center emergency room in Prestonsburg.
Born February 18, 1942, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruth Johnson Spurlock. He was a disabled coal miner, a former deputy sheriff, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his best friend, Darlena Wright; two daughters, Crystal Akers of Allen and Melissa Rodger of Prestonsburg; six brothers, Darrell Spurlock, Ted Spurlock, and A.C. Spurlock, all of Columbus, Ohio, Charles Spurlock of Prestonsburg, Woodrow Spurlock and Marvin Spurlock, both of Allen, and Arnold Spurlock of Kilbuck, Ohio; two sisters, Ethel Mae Spurlock of Millersburg, Ohio; and Juanita (Edith) Humble of Allen; two grandsons, Kobe Alan Akers and Braden Seth Howell; and ex-wife, Janice Sue Conn of Printer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Stevie Dwayne Spurlock and Brian Douglas Spurlock; a brother, Kenneth Ray Spurlock; and a sister, Bonnie Sue Roberts.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 5, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Halbert Cemetery (Mouth of Spurlock), at Printer, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
