Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Willard Johnson
Willard Johnson, 48, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday, January 28, 2001, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was born October 27, 1952, at Knott County the son of Earline Hall Johnson of Knott County, and the late Hillard Johnson. He was a salesman with Schwanns home food service.
He is survived by his wife, Melody L. Johnson.
Other survivors include one son, Joshua W. Johnson of Prestonsburg; three daughters, Melissa Huff, Angel M. England and Julie A. Galiher all of North Vernon, Indiana; three sisters, Trecia Dials of Mallie, Lucy Hays and Louise Johnson, both of Knott County; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 31, at 1 p.m., at the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel.
Billy Crider, H. D. Blackburn, Kenneth McClure, Marty Hays Jr., Jeremy Dials and Mart Ross Wicker.
Honorary pallbearers were Dylan J. Huff, Ryan Jonel Scott Huff, Nathaniel Allen Galiher, Caven England and Ed Galiher.

William Calvin Greer
William Calvin Greer, 86, of Paintsville, died Thursday, January 25, 2001, at the Mountain Manor Nursing Home, Paintsville.
Born on October 25, 1914, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Samuel Greer and Naomi Burke Greer. He was a retired employee of Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Crider Greer.
Other survivors include three sons, William Ronald Greer of Tutor Key, Gary Greer of Little Paint Creek, Paul Roger Greer of Paintsville; two daughters, Alice Frazier of Thelma, Peggy Hall of Van Lear; one brother, Guy Greer of Lexington; two sisters, Madge Rutledge of Lexington, Evelyn Flanery of Allen; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 27, at 11 a.m., at the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel, with Dick Vanhoose and Dave Flanery officiating.
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park.

Beulah Whitaker
Beulah Whitaker, 81, died Thursday, March 22, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
She was born September 24, 1919, in Floyd County, the daughter of the late Kaleb and Zella Rice Whitaker.
She is survived by one brother, Albert Whitaker of East Point.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 25, at the Whitaker Freewill Baptist Church, with Hubert Slone and Richard Green officiating.
Burial was in the Whitaker Family Cemetery at East Point, under direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home.

Bobby Jean Roop
Bobby Jean Roop, 65, of Dwale, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his residence.
He was born May 10, 1965, at Prestonsburg, the son of the late Curtis and Elsie (Setser) Roop. He was a former carpenter with East Kentucky Roof Truss.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Roop Jr., of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one brother, Charles Vernon “Duke” Roop of Prestonsburg; and one sister, Virginia Ann Nader of St. Clemmons, Michigan.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 30, at 1 p.m., at the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Carpenter officiating.
Burial will be in the Ford Cemetery at Prestonsburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Henry Setser Jr., Mickey Setser, Jeff Setser, Linzie Gibson, Greg Horn and James Gibson.

Brent Weaver
Brent Weaver, 20, of Inez, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Born on June 2, 1980, in Marshall County, Alabama, he was the son of Pamela Lafferty and the late Mont Weaver.
Survivors include one brother, Chase Lafferty of Inez; one step-brother, Colin Laferty of Paducah; one sister, Brandy Weaver of Gunnersville, Alabama; two step-sisters, Kristen Lafferty and Kaity Lafferty, both of Paducah; and his grandparents, David and Faye Bowen.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 30, at noon, at the Alberts-Brown Funeral Home, in Albertsville, Alabama, with Hal Mayhew officiating.
Burial will be in the Rehobeth Cemetery, in Gunnersville, Alabama.
Visitation may be made Wednesday, March 28, after 5 p.m., at the Sheldon Clark High School gymnasium.

Florence Hall Martin
Florence Hall Martin, 95, of Kite, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at her residence.
She was born January 26, 1906, in Kite, the daughter of the late Hiram Hall and Merba Strange Hall. She was a retired insurance agent and school teacher, and attended the Old Regular Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Martin.
Survivors include three sons, Earl Martin Jr. of Umatilla, Florida, Darwin Martin of Millersburg, Indiana, Carl Martin of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Ruby Castle and Maxine Hall, both of Kite, 27 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 30, at 11 a.m., at the Rebecca Regular Baptist Church, at Kite, with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the King Cemetery, at Kite, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Florence Hall Martin were Paul Buchanan, Earl D. Martin, Don Martin, Kevin Castle, Chuck Harris, Jamie Harris and Marvin Hall.

Garland Veer Hutchinson
Garland Veer Hutchinson, 87, of Louisville, died at the Caritas Hospital in Louisville.
He was a native of Floyd County.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Setser Hutchinson.
Other survivors include two brothers, Rodney Hutchinson and Jack Hutchinson; one sister, Vivian Tackett.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 28, at noon, at the Evergree Funeral Home Chapel, Louisville.
Burial was in the Evergreen Mausoleum.

Homer Johnson
Homer Johnson, 80, of Melvin, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on March 22, 1921, at Pike County, he was the son of the late Ben and Sara Ellen Johnson. He was a disabled logger.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Hall Johnson.
Other survivors include two sons, Ronnie Johnson and Mike Johnson, both of Melvin; four daughters, Mary Crittendon, Geneva See and Janet Caudill, all of Melvin, Barbara Mullins of Martin; two brothers, Sterling Johnson of Wales, Reo Johnson of Michigan; two sisters, Reda Little and Marie Mullins, both of Wales; 25 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 31, at noon, at the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Matthew Tackett Cemetery, at Melvin, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.

Verlen Lewis
Verlen Lewis, 62, of Lima, Ohio, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her residence.
Born on August 19, 1938, in Stevens Branch, she was the daughter of the late Bob Robinson and Ida Stevens Tackett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lewis.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Tackett and Keith Lewis, both of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Sharon Dolt and Patricia Strunk, both of Lima, Ohio; one brother, Mose Tackett of Lima, Ohio; one sister, Naomi Martin of Lima, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Friday, March 30, at Siferd Main St. Chapel, with Ferman Hall officiating.
Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Siferd Funeral Home.
