Glenda Hall Holbrook, 46, of Pinetop, died Thursday, March 1, 2001.
She was born October 25, 1954, the daughter of Estill Hall of Kite, and the late Sada Hall.
She is survived by her husband, William Holbrook, of Kite.
Other survivors include one son, William Darrell Holbrook of Kite; three brothers, Darrell Hall of Whitesburg, James Hall and Charles Hall, both of Kite; two sisters, Nora Grace Everidge of Colson and Neva Francis of Garrett.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 4, at 11 a.m., at the Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church, at Kite, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Hall Family Cemetery, at Kite, under the direction of Everidge Funeral Home, Whitesburg.
Grover Ousley
Grover Ousley, 92, of Hippo, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at his residence.
He was born January 16, 1910, in Caney Creek, the son of the late Tommy Ousley and Lucy Allen Ousley. He worked for Columbia Gas Company and United Fuel for 26 years, and 16 years for S & H Manufacturing, and was a member of the Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Gene Ousley of Branford, Florida, Carlos Ousley of Bellevue, Ohio, Jerry Ousley of Hippo, Clarence Ousley of Charlotte, North Carolina; one daughter, Anna Lou Kahnweiler of Los Angeles, California; one sister, Darcus Key of Allen, 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, at Martin, with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Hicks Cemetery, at Hippo.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
John Edward McCown
John Edward McCown, 62, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born on August 27, 1938, in Floyd County, he was the son of Ida Sword McCown of Pikeville, and the late Allard McCown. He was a retired over-the-road truck driver, and a former Pike County Deputy Sheriff.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Hunt McCown.
Other survivors include one brother, Jim McCown of Pikeville and one sister, Virginia “Bug” McCown Ratliff of Southgate, Michigan.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 10, at the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home, with Tommy Spears officiating.
Burial will be in the McCown Family Cemetery, on Island Creek.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Blevins, Wendell Williams, Tom Gerke, Dale Ratliff, James Price and Paul Hunt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hall and John Hall.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family to help with the funeral expenses.
Okie Marie Fraley
Okie Marie Fraley, 85, of Van Lear, died March 6, 2001, at the Paul B. Hall Medical Center, in Paintsville.
Born on December 24, 1915, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Daniels and Mahala Preston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Fraley.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Fraley of East Point, Ronald Fraley and William R. Fraley, both of Van Lear; two daughters, Ruth Butcher and Alpharetta Sue Francis, both of Van Lear; three brothers, Jess Daniels of Cliff, Norton Daniels and Shirley Daniels, both of Thelma; four sisters, Maybeth Fraley of Oceana, West Virginia, and Ethel Penix, Peggy Keeler and Bonnie Skeets, all of Silver Creek, New York; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 9, at 1 p.m., at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Hager Hill, with Mansford Fannin officiating.
Burial will be in the Friendship Memorial Gardens, at Williamsport.
Kane Hale
Kane Hale, 48, of Harold, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
He was born December 12, 1952, at Prestonsburg, the son of Elizabeth Howell Hale of Harold, and the late Glen A. Hale. He was a meter reader with Equitable Resources.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Layne Hale.
Other survivors include one son, Landon Kane Hale of Harold; two daughters, Jayneanne Hale of Prestonsburg and Leslie Anne Hale of Harold; one brother, Larry Hale of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three sisters, Clara Friar of Allen, Bessie Maynard of Harold and Glenda Layne of Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 9, at 1 p.m., at the Betsy Layne Church of Christ with Tommy Spears officiating.
Burial will be in the Hale Cemetery at Harold, under the direction of Floyd Funeral Home.

Cinda Slone Johnson
Cinda Slone Johnson, 97, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, formerly of Floyd County, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at the Fort Sanders Park West Hospital at Lenoir City, Tennessee.
She was born October 7, 1903, at Blue River, the daughter of the late Rube and Elizabeth Ratliff Slone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Johnson.
She is survived by two sons, Rube Johnson of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Alex Johnson of Wausen, Ohio; four daughters, Alice Hicks of Alger, Ohio, Pokie Vineyard of Carey, Ohio; Goldie Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Della Ousley of Willard, Ohio; 30 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 4, at 1 p.m., at the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg.
Burial was in the Johnson Family Cemetery at Johnson Fork of Caney Fork of Middle Creek.
Henry Hall
Henry Hall, 64, of Oberlin, Ohio, a former New London resident, died Saturday, March 3, at his home.
He was born February 11, 1937, in Honaker, the son of the late James David and Maggie Scalf Hall. He moved from Honaker to New London in 1955, and to Oberlin in 1987. He attended the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sisters, Bessie Owens of Oberlin, and Lucille Hamilton of New London; three brothers, Charles Hall of New London, Tommy Hall of Wellington and Delmar Hall of Lorain.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 6, at the Eastman Funeral Home, New London, with Charles Mead of the New London Church of Christ officiating.
Burial was in the Grove Street Cemetery in New London.
Illa T. Branham
Illa T. Branham, 83, of Wayland, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, following a brief illness.
She was born June 30, 1917, in Knott County, the daughter of the late W.M. Triplett and Melvina Castle Triplett. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and taught at Wayland Grade School for 34 years, where she was employed by the Floyd County School System.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Astor Branham.
Survivors include one son, Gary Astor Branham of Wayland; one step-son, Astor Branham Jr. of Eastlake, Ohio; one sister, Norcia Brown of Georgetown; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 7, at 11 a.m., at the Zion Deliverance Church, at Wayland, with the clergymen, J.M. Sloce and Mabry Holbrook, officiating.
Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery, Prestonsburg, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Illa T. Branham were Phillip Ray Johnson, Jeff Riley, Brian Fields, Carl Ray Fraley, Jerry Fultz and Curt Slone.
Honorary pallbearer was M. F. Rice.
