Della Lizziebeth Kidd, 80, of Honaker, died Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at her residence.
Born August 30, 1922, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Mary Francis Kidd Carroll. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Sarah Old Regular Baptist Church at Pikeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Kidd.
Survivors include six sons, Mack Denzil Kidd of Blaine, F.B. Kidd of Louisa, Freddy Kidd of Hobsound, Florida, R.J. Kidd and Russell R. Kidd, both of Honaker, and Simon Kidd of Pike County; seven daughters, Tennie Parsons, Julavene Case, Joann Innis, Alvagail Harvey, Ima Sue Collins, and Avanell Rose, all of Honaker; and George Anna Case of Louisa; one sister, Rosa Owens of New London, Ohio; 49 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by four infant children, and nine brothers, Joe Carroll, Andy Carroll, Dee Carroll, Tom Carroll, Virgil Carroll, George Carroll, Nathan Carroll, Troy Carroll, and Beverly Carroll.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 20, at 11 a.m., at the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church at Honaker, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Visitation is at the church, where nightly services were conducted.
Burial will be in the Kidd Cemetery at Honaker, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Cordellia Marie Morris
Cordellia Marie Morris, 57, of Jervis Branch, Prestonsburg, formerly of Inez, died Wednesday, December 18, 2002.
Born May 7, 1945, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Clifton (Trigg) Cline, of Inez, and the late Gladie Crum Cline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Morris.
Survivors include two sons, Donald A. Dotson of Columbus, Ohio, and William A. Morris of Inez; three daughters, Regina Jervis of Prestonsburg, Molly Rudder of Martin; and one step-daughter, Eleanor Marcum of Sidney; one brother, James L. Cline of Inez; three sisters, Shelby Hurley of Crossville, Tennessee, and Molly Matthews and Gail Cline, both of Inez; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 21, at 1 p.m., at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.
Burial will be in the Crum-Cline Cemetery, at Davella.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Joe Wheeler Stanley
Joe Wheeler Stanley, 69, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, December 16, 2002, at the Riverview Health Care Center in Prestonsburg.
Born September 16, 1933, in Johnson County, he was the son of Carmia Wireman Stanley of Prestonsburg, and the late Roosevelt Stanley. He was a retired sign painter and a United States Air Force veteran.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, Donald Ray Stanley of Prestonsburg; three brothers, Ralph Stanley of Jeffersonville, Doug Stanley of Hager Hill, and Paul Stanley of Prestonsburg; three sisters, Christine Ward of Meally, Pearlene Stanley of Dorton, and Ina Jo Clemons of Prestonsburg; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Stanley and Tom Stanley.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 19, at 1 p.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Hershel Wright officiating.
Burial was in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Sadie Bakay
Sadie Bakay, 85, of Weeksbury, died Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born February 24, 1917, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Lillie Tackett Hall. She was a retired grocery store owner at Weeksbury, and a member of Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church at Melvin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Bakay.
Survivors include three brothers, Haskell Hall and Homer Hall, both of Weeksbury and Guy Hall of Buford, Georgia; and one sister, Liza Jane Wells of Weeksbury, and a host of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by and one sister, Sarah Branham.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 20, at 1 p.m., at Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church at Melvin, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Visitation was at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin.
Burial was in the Wash Hall Cemetery at Weeksbury, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Goldia Hall
Goldia Hall, 84, of Melvin, died Monday, December 16, 2002, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born July 2, 1918, in Melvin, she was the daughter of the late Isadore and Melissa Newsome Johnson. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God of Prophecy at Ligon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hall.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Hall (Claudette) of Hi Hat, and Roger Hall (Sandy) of Wheelwright; two daughters, Sylvia Thornsbury (Clark) and Wilma Burke (Dean), both of Melvin; four brothers, Sylvan Johnson and L. A. Johnson, both of Melvin, and Virgil Johnson and James Napier Jr., both of Somerset; three sisters, Stella Griffith of Allen, Versie Mansfield of Cold Grove, Ohio; and Beulah Johnson of Rockhouse, 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In additions to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ira Johnson; one sister, Thelma Wells; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 19, at 11 a.m., at Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church at Melvin, with Jimmy Hall and Bill Tackett officiating.
Burial will be in the Painter Harve Johnson Cemetery at Melvin, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.

Helen Virginia Boyd
Helen Virginia Boyd, age 80, of Dana, widow of Arthur Boyd, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
She was born June 30, 1922, in Ivel, the daughter of the late Charlie Smith and Katheryn Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Orsborn of Dana, and Don Orsborn of Springport, Michigan; and five grandchildren, Amy Ward, Jason Smith, Chris Orsborn, Donnie Orsborn; and Chad Orsborn, and one great-grandson, Jordan Ward.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Smith, and four brothers, Oliver Smith, Charlie Smith, Woodrow Smith, and Clayton Smith; six sisters, Ethel Collins, Grace Engles, Suble Coleman, Edith Ratliff, Stellie McClown and Imogene Hall.
Funeral services for Helen Virginia Boyd wiere conducted Sunday, December 15, at 11 a.m., at the Little Salem Regular Baptist Church, at Dana, with the Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Boyd Cemetery, at Dana, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was at the church.

Hope Sherman Whitten
Hope Sherman Whitten, 84, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, December 16, 2002, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born in Emma, on October 24, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Marion Sherman and Maude Blackburn Sherman. She was a homemaker and former store clerk for Ben Franklin Store, Prestonsburg. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church; a member of the United Methodist Women; a member of the United Methodist Sewing Circle; and a member of Miriam Rebekah Lodge No. 31, for 49 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil K. Whitten on December 11, 1989.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith (Judy) Irene Garrett of Ypsilanti, Michigan; two sons, Philip Keith Whitten and Denzil (Denny) Curtis Whitten, both of Prestonsburg; one sister, Ruby Click of Olive Hill; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Sue Whitten, and one step-son, Robert Whitten.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 19, at 1 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Sayre and Rev. Mark Walz officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel.
Visitation is Wednesday, 12 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Rebekah service was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Carter Funeral Home is serving the Whitten family.
James Dwayne Hall
James Dwayne Hall, age 50, of McDowell, husband of Diana Lynn Salisbury Hall, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2002, in Wolfe County.
He was born November 10, 1952, in Martin, the son of James Monroe Hall and Helen Tackett Hall of McDowell. He was a retired electrician, a member of the Wayland Masonic Lodge, and a member of the disabled American veterans.
In addition to his wife, and parents, he is survived by two sons, Jamie Dwayne Hall and Jody Shane Hall, both of McDowell; one brother, Jeffrey Darrell Hall of Amanda, Ohio; four sisters, Mary Joyce Murphy and Delores Lea Miller, both of Jupiter, Florida, Karen Ann Stephens of Prestonsburg, and Lisa Carol Fields of Stuart, Florida; one grandchild, Dakota Hall; a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for James Dwayne Hall were conducted Sunday, December 15, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, at McDowell, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
