John Wesley Hall, age 101, of Martin, husband of the late Lyda Ellen Osborne Hall, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002, in the Riverview Health Care Center, Prestonsburg.
He was born December 10, 1900, in Topmost, the son of the late Ananias Hall and Sarah Ellen Cook Hall. He was a retired C&O store keeper, and a member of the First Baptist Church, at Martin.
He had been an active member of the Masonic Fraternity for 64 years and 11 months, and was the senior past master of Zebulon Lodge 273, F&AM, in Prestonsburg; a member of James W. Alley Lodge 869, in Wayland; and a member of John W. Hall Lodge 950, at Martin, which was named in his honor. He was a past Grand Master of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Kentucky; a member of both the York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies; and a member of Oleika Shrine Temple. He had been a 33rdº Mason for 29 years.
Survivors include his sons Wesley Leon Hall of Allen, and Robert Helton Hall of Taylor, Michigan; one daughter, Audilee Mae Hall of Martin, 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Willis Edward Hall, Emil Barnard Hall, and Drexel L. Hall.
Funeral services for John Wesley Hall were conducted Tuesday, December 3, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, at Martin, with Clergyman Randy Osborne officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home, and Masonic services were held there on Sunday evening.
Pallbearers: Charles Hall, Robert Hall, David Hall, Josh Kinzer, Terry Thompson, Craig Campbell, Gary McCoy, Bryan Hall, Tommy Thompson, and Jammie Kinzer.
Regina Crider
Regina Crider, 36, of Wheelwright, died Sunday, December 1, 2002, at the Ridge Pavilion Nursing Home in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born February 22, 1966, in McDowell, she was the daughter of Pete Collins of Martin, and the late Priscilla Moore Collins.
Survivors, other than her father, include two sons, Jeremy Crider of Belleview, and Christopher David Slone of Wheelwright; two daughters, Priscilla Collins of Belleview, and Cristy Lee Slone of Wheelwright; one brother, A.C. Collins of Ashley, Indiana; three sisters, Rolena Stiltner of Portsmouth, Ohio; Reanota Robinson of Huntington, West Virginia; and Vicky Ramey of Bosco; and one granddaughter, Aspen Cheyenne Hensley.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 4, at 11 a.m., at the McDowell First Baptist Church, at McDowell, with Harry Hargis officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenbury Hall Cemetery, (Frasures Creek) at McDowell, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Active pallbearers: Chris Hensley, Doug Jones, Basil Branham, James Goins, Robert Robinson, and Sam McGuire.
Stella (Kirk) Copley
Stella (Kirk) Copley, age 83, of Prestonsburg, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, after an extended illness.
She was born June 11, 1919, at Pilgrim, a daughter of the late Clay and Maggie (Underwood) Kirk. She worked for the Davis’ Market as a grocery clerk.
She was married
to Raymond Copley who preceded her in death. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Prestonsburg; a member of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 24, and Miriam Rebekah Lodge No. 31, in Prestonsburg.
She is survived by two sons, Forrest Copley of Shreiveport, Louisiana, and Glenn M. (Shorty) Copley of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Margaret Blair of Glasgow; one brother, Russell Kirk of Lovely; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 29, at 11 a.m., from the Burke Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg, with Rev. Martin Tackett officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel.
All arrangements under the direction of Burke Funeral Home, Prestonsburg.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Lou Henri Graves Scott
Lou Henri Graves Scott, age 69, of Garrett, wife of Ralph Rondal Scott, passed away Friday, November 29, 2002, at her residence.
She was born February 21, 1933, in Wayland, the daughter of the late Charles Raymond Graves Sr., and Agnes Slone Graves. She was a member of the Martin Branch Freewill Baptist Church, at Estill, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her son, Ralph R. Scott Jr., of Garrett; one brother, Charles Raymond Graves Jr., of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters, Evelyn Marie Mullins of Fair Haven, Michigan, and Peggy Jo Corns of Thornsville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Logan Reed Scott and Mackenzie Paige Scott.
Funeral services for Lou Henri Graves Scott were conducted Monday, December 2, at 11 a.m., at the Martin Branch Freewill Baptist Church with Clergymen James “Red” Morris and Clinton “Buddy” Jones officiating.
Burial was in the Martin Cemetery, at Wayland, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was at the funeral home, and at the church.

Carlie Samons Gibson
Carlie Samons Gibson, age 78, of Dana, wife of the late Mont Gibson Jr., passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002, in the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
She was born January 6, 1924, in Martin, the daughter of the late Sol Salmons and Della Akers Samons. She was a assistant post master for the Dana Post Office, Dana, and a member of the Little Dove Regular Baptist Church, Honaker.
Survivors include one son, Gregory Glenn Gibson of Dana; two daughters, Greta Gay Gibson of Dana, Gloria Gayle McCoy of Clay City; one brother, Jay Samons of Vermillion, Ohio; five sisters, Verna Mae Conn of Dana, Mavis Marston of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Jean Halfhill of Prestonsburg, Lois S. Boyd of Leesburg, Virginia, Denna V. Sileke of Westchester, Pennsylvania, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Gene Gibson; and one brother, Edgar Samons.
Funeral services for Carlie Samons Gibson will be conducted Friday, December 6, at 11 a.m., at the Little Salem Regular Baptist Church, at Dana, with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation is after 4 p.m., Wednesday, at the church.
Fannie Adams
Fannie Adams, 87, of Wheelwright, passed away Wednesday, November 27, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
She was born January 4, 1915, at Fords Branch, the daughter of the late Reff and Mary Lockhart Castle. Fannie was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lou Pennington of Romulus, Michigan, Ethel Curry of Melvin, and Joyce Burke of Wheelwright; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Adams Jr.; one son, Bobby Adams; five brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 1, at 1 p.m., at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church with Orville Burke, John Burke and Eddie Harley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Buckingham Cemetery, under the direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home, Virgie.

James Roy Music
James Roy Music, 72, of Prestonsburg, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
Born October 20, 1930, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Elmer Music and Amy Henton Music. He was a retired Kentucky West Virginia Gas Company employee, and a member of the Corn Fork Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Hyden Music.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Nelson of Prestonsburg; two brothers, A.G. Music and Elmer Music Jr., both of Michigan; three sisters, Lorraine Osborne of Michigan, Emma Jean Pelphrey of Prestonsburg, and Roberta Knipp of Ohio.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paris Music and Franklin Music.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 1, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Freewill Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Hugh Gordon Ramsey
Hugh Gordon Ramsey, 59, of Garrett, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born April 1, 1943, in Monticello, he was the son of the late Arnold Ramsey and Mildred Cooper Ramsey. He was a heavy equipment operator for Allen Land Improvement, at Martin; and a member of Mill Springs Methodist Church, at Mill Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Howard Ramsey.
Other survivors include one son, Kirk Ramsey; wife, Susan, of Lexington; one sister, Carole Jackson of Kingsport, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dakota Ramsey, and Sierha Hardin; a special cousin, Linda Dunagan of Monticello; a special aunt, Jean Ramsey of Monticello.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 1, at 11 a.m., at the Rock Fork Bible Church at Garrett, with Rick Franklin officiating.
Burial will be in the Chaffins Family Cemetery, at Garrett, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
