Ruby (Lindsey) Raymer, age 80, of Shepherdsville, KY passed away Thursday, December 18th, 2014 in Louisville at the Norton Audubon Hospital.
She was born on August 26th, 1934 in Butler County the daughter of the late Hewey and Detsel (Cockerel) Lindsey. Ruby was a member of the Mother Seton Catholic Church in Louisville as well as a housewife and homemaker.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Willie of 64 years, four daughters, Peggy Worth of Hillview, Verita Worth of Louisville, Jill Spencer of IN and Tenya Raymer of Bullitt County; two sons, Terry Raymer and Tim Raymer both of Bullitt County; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. Other than her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by three brothers, JC, Stanley and WL Lindsey and three sisters, Elsie Mae, Anita and Sue.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. CST at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Jackie Cockrel will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Valeria K (Barbour) Anderson

Valeria K. Barbour "Barb " Anderson passed away in her home December 22, 2014 at age 91. She was born August 27, 1923 in Barren County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Riley and Vera Barbour. Miss Barb was a graduate of Western Kentucky University where she earned her teaching certificate. She started her teaching career in Barren County, teaching in one room schools in the Poplar Spring and Coral Hill communities, where her younger siblings Omar, Louise and Opal were students in her class. She came to Grayson County in 1946 and started teaching at Caneyville High School. During her early years, she also taught in one room schools at Willis and Buck Creek. In the early 1950s, she was moved to Clarkson High School where she spent most of her career teaching Home Economics. She ended her career as Food Service Director for Grayson County Schools. She and her husband were third generation owners of W. L. Anderson Hardware in Caneyville for many years. She was of Baptist faith and a charter member of New Harvest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Ross Anderson, her parents Riley and Vera Barbour, brother Omar L. Barbour, sisters Mary Ida Barbour and Rebecca Richardson, brothers-in-law Royce Forsythe, Brent Richardson, Eddie Rice and Carroll Coffman, and sisters-in law Nell McClure, Mary Alice Rice and Robye Anderson.
She is survived by her 6 children, Anita Anderson of Caneyville, Sherry (Donnie) Woosley of Bowling Green, Marla (Scottie) Cantway of Leitchfield, Barry (Cathy) Anderson of Caneyville, Greg Anderson of Front Royal, Virginia, and Keith (Debbie) Anderson of Falls of Rough, sisters Louise Forsythe of Morgantown, Opal (George) Bowles of Clarksville, Indiana, brother Robert (Loretta) Barbour of Glasgow, sisters-in-law Betty Barbour of Glasgow and Barbara Coffman of Elizabethtown, and brother-in-law W. L. "Dub" McClure of Scotsville.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Eric (Lisa) Woosley of Medina, Tennessee, Tyler (Stephanie) Cantway of Louisville, Allison Cantway of Nashville, Tennessee, Jenna Cantway of Leitchfield, Hannah Anderson of Lexington, and Gordon Thomas Anderson of Front Royal, Virginia and great-grandchildren Olivia and Sydney Woosley and Collin and Caleb Cantway. Anyone who knew Barb had heard the wonderful stories about her sincere love for her grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 2pm Friday, December 26 at Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Saturday, December 27 with Rev. Robert L. Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Layman Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to New Harvest Baptist Church and Hosparus of Kentucky.
Bro. Leonard Embry

Died: Sat., Feb. 7, 2015
Bro. Leonard Embry, 87, of Caneyville, passed away Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at Grayson Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on August 17th, 1927 in Grayson County, the son of the late Odra Mason Embry and Daisy (Willoughby) Embry. He was a member of the New Home General Baptist Church. Bro Leonard preached for over 50 years and was a retired school bus driver.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Embry of Caneyville. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Juanita (Day) Embry; two brothers, Clayton and Oval and four sisters, Elaine, Ruby, Cuba and Omega.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 10th at 11:00 am at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Rudd Kerr will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Lonnie B. Norris, Jr.

Lonnie B. Norris Jr, 90, of Caneyville, passed away Monday, February 23rd, 2015 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
He was born on November 10th, 1924 in Brooks, Kentucky, the son of the late Lonnie B. Sr and Mattie Lee (Bennet) Norris. He was a former painter and carpenter.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Norris; two sons, Colby Dean Norris (Mona) of Bowling Green and Henry Edward Norris of Louisville; one daughter, Donna White (Joey) of Clarkson; three grandchildren, Lonnie Spears, Vanda White (fiancé Landon Moore) and Nolan White; two great-grandchildren, Lexie and Brooklyn Spears and two sisters, Juanita Gerkins and Louise Wright both of Louisville. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Mark Allen Spears; one brother, CL Norris and four sisters, Edith Parker, Grace Armstrong, Geneva Rich and Vanda Norris.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 26th at 11:00 am at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Mickey Coates will be officiating. Burial will be in the Laymen Memorial Cemetery.

Madine Smith

Madine Smith, 100, of Caneyville, passed away Friday, March 6th, 2015 at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield.
She was born on November 7th, 1914 in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Amos Sr and Berdie (Hudson) Swift. She was a homemaker and a member of the Caneyville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Smith (Juanita) of Caneyville; five daughters, Margalene Raymer, Mary Ann Franks (Bill), Carolyn Nuckols, Marsha Duvall (Roger) and Rhonda Sipes (Jim) all of Caneyville and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, Madine is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Latney Harold Smith; four sons, Charles Smith, Herschel Smith, Amos J. Smith and Raymond Smith and; one daughter, Sandra Smith and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 9th at 11:00 am at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Mickey Coates will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Roy J. Priest

Roy J. Priest, 65, of Caneyville, passed away Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at the Bowling Green Medical Center.
He was born on October 16th, 1949 in Breckinridge County, the son of the late Leonard and Katherine (Knott) Priest. He attended Caneyville Outreach of Jesus Christ and loved gospel music. He loved to play the guitar. He was a US Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
Roy is survived by his wife, Brenda Priest; three sons, Robert Curtis (Rita) of Caneyville, Joseph Priest and Randy Priest both of Missouri; three daughters, Gina Dockery (Jimmy) of Caneyville, Mindy Samuelson (Richard) of Missouri, and Joanie Powell (Steve) of Clarkson; one brother, Larry Carmen (Vickie) of Hardinsburg; four sisters, Neoma Thurman (JB) of Hardinsburg, Nova Hutchenson, Samantha Hanley, and Grace Jean Curry. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Reno Priest.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Randy Anderson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Bates Cemetery.
