Cecil J. Embry, 85, of Butler County, passed away Friday, November 28th, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on July 7th, 1929 in Butler County. He was the son of the late Vannie and Mary (Brooks) Embry. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and later received a Purple Heart for his service. Cecil was a member of the American Legion Post 81 in Leitchfield. He was the 2013 Veteran of the Year in Butler County. He was also an avid gardener.
He is survived by his former wife of 35 years, Frances Bryant Embry of Caneyville; one son, Billy D. Embry (and partner Sheree and her son Connor) of Butler County; a friend, Joyce Felty of Clarkson; one brother, V.J. Embry of Butler County; three sisters, Myrtle Wilson of Fordsville, Opal Phelps and Essie Ashley both of Louisville; two grandsons Kenton Embry of Nashville and Chris Embry of Caneyville; three granddaughters, Taeh Decker (Carey), Noelle Mudd and ShyAnne Embry all of Caneyville; five great grandchildren, Ethan Embry, Emily Embry, Annelise Decker, Isaac Mudd and Ava Rose Mudd all of Caneyville. Other than his parents Cecil is proceeded in death by his son, Cecil Collins Embry and his three brothers, Willard Embry, James Embry and Billie Embry.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 1st at 11:00 am at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Eulogy by Billy Embry. Burial will be in the Wilson Home Cemetery in Butler County.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Sunday after 6:00 pm and Monday from 9 am until time of service.
Fronia (Woosley) Shain

Died: Tue., Dec. 2, 2014
Fronia (Woosley) Shain, 104, passed away at her home in Louisville on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014.
She was a native of Grayson County and born to the late Cleveland and Nancy Jane Woosley on August 23rd, 1910. Fronia was a member of the Pine Knob Primitive Baptist Church and retired from the old Grayson County War Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Isaac E. Shain (Dorothy) of Louisville; 3 daughters, Wilma D. Carwisle of Leitchfield, Mary Helen Hawkins (Charles) of Millwood and Ruth Ann Blair (Joe) of Louisville; her brother, Dewey L. Woosley (Phyllis) of Murphysboro, IL; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; 3 step-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Other than her parents, Fronia is preceded in death by husband, Leo L. Shain; 1 grandson; 1 grandson-in-law; 1 granddaughter-in-law; 1 son-in-law; 1 great-great grandson; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 5th at 1:00 pm CST at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Interment will be at the Deweese Cemetery at Pine Knob. Elder Darrell Risner of the Louisville Primitive Baptist Church will be officiating.

John Fitzgerald Stone

John Fitzgerald Stone, 53, of Caneyville, passed away Thursday, December 4th, 2014 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
He was born on December 29th, 1960 in Grayson County, the son of the late Hayward Arnold and Velvy Ree (Barton) Stone. John was a pallet vendor and was a hard worker his whole life.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Loretta (King) Stone of Caneyville; their two sons, Kenny Stone of New Albany, IN and Josh Stone of Caneyville; 9 grandchildren and 3 sisters, Barbara Coats and Betty Park of Caneyville and Bertha Webb of Leitchfield. Other than his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Arnold Stone and two sisters, Alice Manco and Margaret Stone.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 7th at 1:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Mark Park and Bro Pete Farris will be officiating. Burial will be in the McGrady Creek Cemetery.

Paricia Faye Cook
Died: Thu., Dec. 4, 2014
Patricia Faye Cook, 54 of Alexandria, KY, passed away December 4, 2014 at the UC Medical Center. Trish was a homemaker.
She is survived by her parents Billie and Shirley Duncan. Her loving husband Rev. Timothy Cook, son; Shaun (Adriane) Cook; daughters Shannon (Brian) Alexander and Brittanie (Jake) Apke. Grandchildren; Kylie Alexander, Keenan Alexander, and Aria Cook.
Visitation will be held at Cooper Funeral Home 10759 Alexandria, KY 41001 on Monday December 8th from 4-7:30pm with services beginning at 7:30pm.
Local visitation will be held on Tuesday December 9th at McGrew Memorial General Baptist Church 775 McGrew Church Rd, Leitchfield, KY from 3-8pm Central Time. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 10th at 10:00 am CST at the McGrew Church. Burial will follow at the Hack-Oller Cemetery in Sadler, KY.
Local arrangements will be handled by the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville.
Gladys Jean (Embry) Patterson

Gladys Jean Patterson, 83, of Winchester, KY passed away Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY.
She was born on April 23rd, 1931 in Ohio County, the daughter of the late Elza Embry and Lennie (Brown) Embry. Jean was a house wife and homemaker.
She is survived by her two sons, Donald Ray Patterson of Mt Sterling, KY and John D Patterson of Winchester, KY; one daughter, Debra Lynn Ennis of Louisville, KY; one brother David Embry of Caneyville; one sister Betty Wilson of Caneyville; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Other than her parents Jean is proceeded in death by her husband of almost 60 years Wilbur Ray Patterson; three brothers Harold, Gerald, and Elza Embry; and two sisters Freda Pharris and Rosa Embry.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13th at 12:00 pm CST at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hosparus of the Bluegrass or the American Caner Society.

Bonnie (Etter) Ferguson

Bonnie Ree Ferguson, 86, of Owensboro, KY passed away Thursday, December 11th, 2014 at Genesis Owensboro Center in Owenboro, KY.
She was born on October 12, 1928 in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Carmey and Ora Ferry Etter. Bonnie was a house wife and homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Ray Ferguson of Owensboro; one brother Wilbur Etter of Leitchfield; one sister Delora Peerce of Indiana; two great great grandchildren Keith Crowe Jr. and Nathan Ray Ferguson. Other than her parents Bonnie is proceeded in death by her husband Russell Ferguson; two brothers James C. Etter and William Thomas Etter; one sister Mary Opal Cronin; and one granddaughter Nicky Ann Ferguson.
The family has chosen to have a private graveside service. Burial will be in the McGrady Creek Cemetery.
