Howard “Frost” Ray

Howard “Frost” Ray, 72, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on June 18, 1940 in Shrewsbury, the son of the late Buel and Mae (Davis) Ray. He was a dozer operator. As a young boy he attended the Shrewsbury Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Vicki Porter (Perry) of Caneyville and her mother, Peanut Ray of Leitchfield, one son, Brendan J. Bratcher of Leitchfield, one brother, J.B. Ray of Leitchfield, two sisters, Dorothy Harpe of Louisville and Ann VanMeter of Leitchfield, two grand daughters, Jessica Rhae Porter of Owensboro and Sarah Hale of Shrewsbury, and two great grand daughters, Addyson Lynn and Allyson Elizabeth. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Hobert and Tommy Ray.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro. David Brown will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sanders Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Tuesday after 1:00 pm. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Grayson County Senior Center at 102 B Watkins Wood Dr, Leitchfield, KY 42754 or 270-259-4885.

Joey Parks

Joey Parks, 55, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on January 30, 1957 in Louisville, the son of the late Hayward and Doris Shane Parks. He was a coal mine equipment operator.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Caneyville, 6 children, Bryon Bates of Horse Branch, Dreama Parks and Megan Hayes both of Caneyville, Travis Parks of Leitchfield, Tasha Aurbrey of Breckingridge Co, Dustin Parks of Falls of Rough, 14 grandchildren, 4 brothers, Roger, Curtis, and Danny Parks all of Caneyville and Jeff Parks of Horse Branch, and 2 sisters, Carylon Young of Horse Branch and Laverne Sanders of Caneyville. Other than his parents, Joey is preceded in death by his brother, JR Parks.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Wavie Pierce will be officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday after 3:00 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home for the Joey Parks Memorial Fund.

Tommy Brown, Sr.

Tommy Brown, Sr., 87, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on August 4, 1925 in Grayson County, the son of the late Clarence and Anna Woosley Brown. He was retired from International Harvester. Tommy attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Caneyville.

He is survived by his son, Tommy Brown Jr and his wife, Jane of Caneyville, his granddaughter, Mendy Clemons and her husband Bill, three great grandsons, Nathan, Jordan, and Joshua Clemons, and one sister, Majorie Cassady of Louisville. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Harry Brown and his sister Kathleen Roberts.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Steven Smith and Bro Mark Claypool will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Thursday after 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Thomas E. Salmon

Thomas E. Salmon, 76, of Beaver Dam, passed away Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 at his residence.

He was born on October 19th, 1936 in Grayson County, the son of the late Fonzy and Maggie (McClellan) Salmon. He was a self-employed flooring installer and also an avid hunter. Thomas loved classic hot rods. He was a member of the Yeaman Church of Christ.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Salmon; 2 sons, Thomas (Kristy) of Beaver Dam and William of Pleasant Ridge; 6 daughters, Peggy Embry (Vernon) of Caneyville, Carolyn Lynn (Randy) of Owensboro, Cathy Duvall (Ricky) of Fordsville, Sherry Saunders (James) of Indianapolis, Michelle Decker of Glasgow and Judy Berrier of Terra Haute; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Granvil (Dena) of Leitchfield; and 3 sisters, Hazel Shrader of Hartford, Mary Erberle of Louisville and Eva Foreman of Caneyville. Other than his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his son Mark and daughter Mary Salmon; 2 brothers, Buck and Lessie and 5 sisters, Emma Ward, Florie Reeson, Wilma Embry, Aline Young and Lizzie Foreman.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro. James Hogan will be officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Thursday after 10 a.m. until time of service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hosparus of Ohio County.

Jerry Wayne Epple

Jerry Wayne Epple, 56, of Campton, KY passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 at his home.

He was a carpenter and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Sue Epple; his son Wesley (Heather) Epple of Campton, KY and his daughter Sommer (Rocky) Allen of Campton, KY. He is also survived by his mother Sylvia Agee; his brothers Marvin Agee, Gerald Lane, and Donnie Blankenship and his sister Linda Lou Terrill. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and a special niece Kayla Taulbee.

He is preceded in death by his sisters Glenda Lane and Vonda Taulbee.

In honor of Jerry’s wishes cremation was chosen and there will be no services to follow.

William Payton

Visitation Wednesday 9:00 A.M. until time of Chapel Service 11:00 A.M. at Dermitt Funeral Home 306 W. Main Street, Caneyville, Ky. Interment with Military Honors at Layman Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Payton was a proud and dedicated employee of the Ford Motor Plant for 30 Years.

Joyce D. (Jones) Collins
Born: Mon May 20, 1940
Died: Wed Jun 26, 2013

Joyce D. Collins, 73, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, June 26th, 2013 at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on May 20th, 1940 in McClean County, KY, the daughter of the late Estell and Mary Frances (Ellis) Jones. Joyce was a waitress and a loving housewife.

Joyce is survived by her sister Loreta Gamblin and her brother Lucain (Omer) Jones both of Morton’s Gap, KY; her nephew Darin Gamblin also of Morton’s Gap; two nieces Debra Ordner of Newburgh, IN and Hawatha Babb of Terra Haute, IN and a close family friend, Luke Dockery (Karen) of Caneyville. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Claude Collins and two sisters Frances Boyd and Evyon Littlepage.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Thursday after 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
