Sherman Basham, age 56, of Leitchfield, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at his home.
He was born September 14, 1952 in Millwood, Ky., the son of Shelby Thomas Basham Sr. and Elsie Mae Reynolds. He was a retired auto mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Basham of Leitchfield; four children, Denise Baker, Wade Basham and John Jones, all of Leitchfield, and Loretta Anderson (Scoobie) of Salem, IN; his brothers and sisters, Minnie Jane Adams of Louisville, Ky., Lula Blair, Lottie McKinsey, Linda Beville, Charles Basham and Homer Basham, all of Leitchfield, Dainty Lashley and James Reynolds, both of Bowling Green, Ky., Claude Basham of Clarkson, Oval Basham of Caneyville, Ky., Shelby Basham Jr. of Owensboro, Ky., Barney Basham of Corydon, IN, and Earl Basham of Round Hill, Ky. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and sisters, John and Eugene Basham, Raymond Reynolds, Vernis Knox, and Mary Nell Wright.
Cremation was chosen.
Dermitt Funeral Home, in Leitchfield, was in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy M. Saltsman
Dorothy M. Saltsman, age 87, of Leitchfield passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.
She was born October 25, 1921 in Grayson County, the daughter of Jake and Mattie Beville-Willis.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry; and one grandson, Stanley Saltsman
She is survived by two daughters, Maxie Green and Louise Alvey (Junior), both of Leitchfield; three sons, Arnett (Annell) and Lester Saltsman (Thelma), both of Leitchfield, and Wendell Saltsman (Rita) of Illinois; 11 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and one step-great-great grandchild. .
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel, in Leitchfield, with Bro. Joe Brooks and Bro. Denver Decker officiating.
Burial will be in the Wortham Cemetery.
Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, and all day Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mark John Wintz
Mark John Wintz, age 53, of Caneyville, Ky., passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at his residence.
He was born December 15, 1955 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Robert A. and Barbara Brandau Wintz.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Brandau of Caneyville; one sister, Victoria (Don) Raymer of Caneyville; and his brother, Robert Wintz, Jr. of St. Louis, MO.
Cremation was chosen.
Dermitt Funeral Home, in Caneyville, was in charge of the arrangements.
Maxine Wilson Bowen
Maxine Wilson Bowen age 80 of Clarkson passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at her residence. She was born September 14, 1928 in Brownsville, KY the daughter of Roy and Celia Baugh-Wilson.
Survivors include, her husband, James Edward Bowen of Clarkson, two sons, Ron Bowen, his wife Joanie and Don Bowen, his wife Brenda all of Clarkson, three brothers, Floyd Wilson of Russellville, G.W. Wilson of Glasgow, and J.F. Wilson of Bowling Green, three sisters, Jeanette Denham of Louisville, Doris Hyde of Bowling Green, and Vontella Carrier of Brownsville, two grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 1:00 p.m. (June 16, 2009) at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Stella Mae Harned
Stella Mae Harned, age 77, of Big Clifty, Ky., passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.
She was born September 28, 1931. She was a homemaker, and a member of Clarkson Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Harned; and her mother, Juanita Goodman.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Ovie) Sandlin and Linda (John A.) Lampton, both of Big Clifty; four grandchildren, Jeff (Jodi) Sandlin of Elizabethtown, Tim (Alisa) Sandlin and Jason Lampton, both of Big Clifty, and Kristi (Michael) Portman of Clarkson, Ky.; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home, in Clarkson, with Bro. Bart Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Big Clifty.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Edward Ray (Sonny) Johnson
Edward Ray (Sonny) Johnson, age 69, of Leitchfield, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at his residence.
He was born October 9, 1939 in Grayson County, the son of Charles Edward and Irma Grace (Kinkade) Johnson. He was a fork truck operator at Ford Motor Company, a deacon of the Providence General Baptist Church, and a member of the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge #236 and the Kosair Shriners.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Chuck (Ilsa) Johnson and Brian James, both of Leitchfield; two daughters, Michelle (JD) Shoemaker and Rae Johnson, both of Leitchfield; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchiild; two sisters, JoAnn Pence of East View, Ky. and Norma Ragland of Leitchfield. He is also survived by a special uncle and aunt, Bob and Anna Rea Kinkade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Martha White.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Dermitt Funeral Home, in Leitchfield, with Bro. Larry Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
