Kenneth Eugene Decker, age 63 of Bee Spring, passed away Monday, October 8th 2012, in Barren County.
He was born April 28, 1949 in Grayson County, the son of Horace and Gracie Meredith Decker.
He is survived by Velma Decker, of Bee Spring; two daughters, Stacia Decker and Betsy Decker Morris, both of Bee Spring; two grandsons, Clarence Lee “Tray” Morris III, and Kenneth Dalton Winchell, both of Bee Spring; his mother, Gracie Meredith; three brothers, Everett Decker (Ina), Sherman Decker (Carolyn), and Randell Decker (Mickey), all of Anneta; five sisters, Cosetta Gibson (Floyd), of Bee Spring, Lorretta Woodcock (Dennis), Rita Toms (Junior), Oma Decker, all of Anneta, and Joyce White of Oakland, KY; several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Decker, two brothers, Roy and Troy Decker, one sister, Lorraine Smith, and one son-in-law, Clarence “Clancy” Morris II.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Jock United Baptist Church with Bro. Kenny Decker, Bro. Thomas Meredith officiating. Burial will be in the Jock Cemetery.
James Ellis Varner
James Ellis Varner, age 77 of Leitchfield passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie, TX.
He was born February 26, 1935 in Red River County, TX, the son of Bryson and Sudie Elizabeth Warren Varner. He was a mechanic for Consolidated Freightway and a member of the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Kelly Jean Hailey, of Louisville; three grandchildren, Brandon Warren, and Kirstie and Kyle Craddock; three great grandchildren, Kyleigh Craddock, Rilee Warren, and Davion Craddock.
He was preceded in death by parents, Bryson and Sudie Elizabeth Warren Varner, and his wife, Priscilla Meredith Varner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel with Bro. Vester Decker officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 10 p.m., Friday at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday until service time at the funeral home.
Nora Pearl Roof
Nora Pearl Roof, age 75, of Leitchfield, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
She was born on August 28, 1937, in Meredith, KY, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Mona Harrison Webb Sr.
She was a retired cook for the Grayson County School System and was a member of the Mulberry Flats United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Bobby Glenn Hayes (Pam), of Leitchfield; her daughter, Mona Hayes Decker (Joey), of Leitchfield; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Matthew and Cody Hayes, and Shawn and Billy Decker; five great grandchildren, Dylan, Ella and Kate Decker, and Emma and Wyatt Hayes; one sister, Dollie Laverne Armes, of Clarkson.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Roof, four brothers, Lonnie Jr, Grant, Hoye and Coy Webb, and two sisters, Gladys Meredith and Marie Pearl.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro Jerry Weedman and Bro. Austin Wade will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mulberry Flats Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
Curtis T. Hayse, Sr.
Curtis T. Hayse Sr, 46, of Leitchfield, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born on January 14, 1966 at Ft. Knox, the son of Curtis C. and Dorothy Hayse. He was a construction worker and currently employed by Scott Haynes Asphalt Company, in Leitchfield.
Curtis is survived by his two sons, Curtis T. Hayse, Jr., of Leitchfield, and Matthew A. Hayse, of Louisville; mthree grandchildren, Allison, Maci, and Konnor Hayse; a special friend, Amanda Blakeman; two brothers, Robert Hayse, of Leitchfield, and Ronnie Hayse, of Shepherdsville; two sisters, Sandy and Brenda Hayse.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Tony Hayse, and his sister, Debbie Garner.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 8 at 1 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Lavonda Large will be officiating. Burial will be in the McGrew Church Cemetery.
John Cottrell
John Cottrell, age 90, of Edmonson County, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Edmonson Care & Rehab.
He was born on May 12, 1920 in Spencer County, the son of the late John Will and Mildred Cottrell. He was a retired foreman of the Queens Electrical Components Factory and a member of the Fairdale Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Crume and her husband Phillip, of Caneyville, Norma Routt and her husband Donald, of Louisville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro. Phillip Crume will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services.
Randall Williams
Randall Williams, 52, of Mount Washington passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 in Louisville, KY.
He was born on March 15, 1959 in Louisville, the son of Woodrow and Lillie Mae Williams. He was his parents caregiver and also a two year army veteran.
He is survived by one sister Norma Jeanne Isaacs (Jerry) of Leitchfield and one brother Fred Roeder (Norma) of Horse Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Dermitt Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Shane Brown will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leach Cemetery.
