Everett "Peter" Witten, age 72, of Upton, Ky., died Monday, May 16, 2005 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.
He was born August 25, 1932. He was retired from G.E. and a Korean Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Pierce Witten of Upton; one brother, Charles Witten of Elizabethtown; one sister, Maxine Jaggers of Louisville, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Firquin and Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the St. Anthony Cemetery.
Addie Goodman Keesee
Addie Goodman Keesee, age 91, of Hudson, Ky., died Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Heartland Villa in Lewisport, Ky.
She was a member of Hudson Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobson Keesee and Mark Goodman; one son, Thomas Goodman; one daughter, Margaret Kiper; and four grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Juanita Basham of Madison-ville, Ky.; two sons, Jack Goodman of Louisville, Ky. and Charles Goodman of Brandenburg, Ky. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one nephew, and several nieces
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Watkins-Oller Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Elloitt officiating.
Burial was in the Hudson Cemetery.
Corinne Napier
Corinne Napier, age 70, of Leitchfield, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
She was born December 8, 1934 in Grayson County, the daughter of George Hillary and Ruby Thompson Williams Prewitt. She was a housewife and a member of the Rabbit Flat Church.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Napier; three daughters, Linda Gibson, Debbie (James) Pierce, and Vickie Miller, all of Leitchfield; one son, Mark (Freda) Napier of Clarkson; four sisters, Jane Hack, Gloria Whobrey, Patsy and Jackolin Prewitt, all of Leitchfield. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ricky Miller; one brother, Earl Dean Prewitt; and one sister, Josephine Osborne.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Buddy Brooks officiating.
Burial was in the Leitchfield Memorial Gardens.
Doris Jean McCawley
Doris Jean McCawley, 77, of Falls of Rough, returned to her Heavenly Father Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
Mrs. McCawley was born October 7, 1935 in Louisville to the late Robert Allen and Sara L. Barr Bishop.
Tthose who preceded her in death include her husband, Albert W. McCawley, a son, Danny McCawley, her parents, a brother, Robert Bishop and sisters Betty Pureer and Charlotte Bishop.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Cathy Foster, Joseph McCawley (Sherry), Debra Strong (Troy) and Albert McCawley (Cynthia); 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lands, Barbara Fangman (Mike), Joyce Brown (Phil), Nancy Key (John) and Christine Burthal and a host of other family and friends.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd.) is in charge of the arrangements.
Ruby Dermitt
Ruby Dermitt, age 86, of Leitchfield passed away Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Kensington Manor Nursing and Rehab in Elizabethtown.
She was born on March 15, 1926 in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Willie and Lorena Bailes Yates.
She was a housewife and with her husband, Rev. Edward Dermitt, helped establish the Dermitt Funeral Home in 1969. She was a member of Claggett United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Clemons of Leitchfield, two sons, Jerry Dermitt (Judy), of Caneyville, and Roger Dermitt (Chris), of Leitchfield, one sister, Ethel Smith, of Louisville, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death, by her husband, Rev. Edward Dermitt, a son, Richard Dale Dermitt, a son-in-law, Richard Clemons, two brothers, Elmer and Paul Yates and three sisters, Cova Dean, Ollie Rich and Cuba Rich.
Funeral services were held Suinday, October 14, 2012. at the Claggett United Baptist Church in Leitchfield, with Rev. Howard Decker, Rev. Garry Watkins and Rev. Danny Dickson officiating. Burial was in the Claggett Cemetery.
Nellie L. Meda Johnson Embry
Nellie L. Meda Johnson Embry, age 86 of Leitchfield, passed away Monday, October 08, 2012 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
She was born December 17, 1925 in Butler County, Kentucky, the daughter of Luther and Hollie Renfrow Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Thomas L. Embry, of Leitchfield; five children, Betty Logsdon (Norman), Tommy Wayne Embry (Mary), Kathy Williams (Doug), Byron L. Embry all of Leitchfield, and Donna Irani (Davius), of Milford, MA; nine grandchildren, Marcha Wagoner (Andy), Stephanie Carroll, Jennifer Logsdon, Mason and Caleb Embry, Megan Troughton (Jeremy), Angela Schroder, Kim Gibson (J.T.), and Brent Williams (Amy); 10 great grandchildren, Hannah and Clay Wagoner, Jacob and Blake Carroll, Jordan and Linsey Schroder, Hallie and Noah Gibson, and Zac and Jaxen Williams; one great-great-grandchild, Emma Schroder.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Arthur, Ray, Earl, Fred, and Ralph Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Clarkson Church of Christ with Bro. Denver Young and Bro. James Long officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
