She was born June 14, 1923. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Thomas; her parents, James and Rebecca Willis Sadler; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Jean Dennison of Caneyville, Ky. and Linda Sue Jolly of Florida; one brother, Coleman Sadler of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Essiebell Helm; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Marjorie Smithers. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Watkins-Oller Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Elliott officiating.
Burial was in the Clarkson Cemetery.
Mary Alice Powell
Mary Alice Powell, age 61, of Leitchfield, died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
She was born February 7, 1945 in Leitchfield, the daughter of Sam and Beulah Garrett Duvall. She was a housewife, and a member of the Claggett United Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar “Pee Wee” Powell; and one brother, Tommy Duvall.
She is survived by three daughters, Regina (Pat) Carby and Katina (Tracy) Thompson, both of Leitchfield, and Melissa (Mike) Gainor of Virginia; one son, Kevin Lee (Winnett) Powell of Leitchfield; and one sister, Dorothy Givens of Louisville, Ky. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Chad and Brandon Whitman, Caressa Carby, Fallon Carby Evans, Natasha, Joey, Amber and Dalton Powell, Christopher Gainor, Maranda and Sarah Thompson; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Claggett United Baptist Church in Leitchfield with Bro. Garry Watkins and Bro. Danny Dickson officiating.
Burial was in the Claggett Cemetery.
Della Francis Powell
Della Francis Powell, age 90, of Clarkson, Ky., died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at his residence.
She was born February 9, 1916. She was a housewife, and a member of Sulphur Wells Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfie Powell; one daughter, Rita Powell; one son, Norman Powell; and her parents, Willie Thomas and Bridget Rita Higdon Alvey.
She is survived by four daughters, Rose Webb and Wanda Milliner, both of Leitchfield, Darlene Franklin of Louisville, Ky., and Kathy Powell of Clarkson; five sons, Carlie, Edward, Kenneth and Anthony Powell, all of Clarkson, and Roy Powell of Leitchfield; one sister, Lucille Kelly of Muldraugh, Ky.; and special caregivers, Betty Bryson and Dixie Webb. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 22 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Chapel in Clarkson with Bro. Ab Stanton and Bro. Joe Brooks officiating.
Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Lawrence A. “Larry” Riggs
Lawrence A. “Larry” Riggs, age 57, of Hodgenville, Ky., died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at his residence.
He was an employee of Lincoln Village Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Elizabethtown, retired Staff Sergeant for the United States Army and Kentucky Army National Guard with 27 years of service, and attended Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church in Hodgenville.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Whobrey Riggs; one daughter and son-in-law, Carla Faye and Anthony Douglas of Hodgenville; two sisters, Barbara Riggs James of Richlands, NC, and Jeannette Riggs Gilbo of Chester, Virginia; two brothers, Bryant Riggs of Jacksonville, NC, and Bobby Riggs of Magnolia; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Joey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Walter and Isadora Jacob Riggs; one brother, Donald Eugene Riggs; and a special nephew, Delbert Terry.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Downey officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Kathleen Lacefield
Mary Kathleen Lacefield, age 82, of Leitchfield, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield.
She was born November 16, 1922.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lacefield; one daughter, Cindy Lacefield; one brother, D. L. Cummings; and one sister, Virginia Shields.
She is survived by three daughters, Florence Stinson and Wilma Blessitt, both of Leitchfield, and Gladys Hardin of Louisville, Ky.; one son, Donnie Lacefield of Leitchfield; one brother, James Cummings of Sweeden, Ky.; two sisters, Audrey Hogan of Georgia and Mayfene Johnson of Marion, Ill. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Watkins-Oller Funeral Home with Pertil Cummings officiating.
Burial was in the Rabbit Flats Cemetery.
Geneva Edlin
Geneva Edlin, age 86, of Caneyville, Ky., died Saturday, May 14, 2005 at her residence.
She was born March 24, 1919 in Oklahoma, the daughter of Otis Smith and Maymee Embry Smith. She was a housewife and a member of Cave Hill Church.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Phyllis Ann (Wavie J.) Pierce of Caneyville and Toyah Renee' (John) Dowdy of Louisville, Ky.; two step-sons, Sam Edlin Jr. and Garnett Edlin, both of Louisville; two step-daughters, Judy Reinhart and Marion Browner, both of Louisville; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Wavie J. Pierce and Rev. George Langdon officiating.
Burial was in the Smith Family Cemetery.
