Ballard Young Mahurin, 98, of Crestwood died on Friday, October 4, 2002 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville.
He was born on May 18, 1904 in Grayson County, as the son of the late Mary Ellen Young and Alonze Thomas Mahurin.
He was a in sales at Metropolitan Life Insurance, a member of Buckner Baptist Church and Southside Golden Age Club of Louisville.
He is survived by two sons, Keith Mahurin of Crestwood and Terry Mahuring of Morgan Hill, CA, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 7, 2002 at Buckner Baptist Church with Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.

Opal Gagle
Opal Laverne (Nottingham) Cagle, 73, of Ada, OK died on Monday, June 10, 2002 at Jan Frances Care Center in Ada.
She was born on July 26, 1928 in Big Clifty as the daughter of Harley Nottingham and Resia Lydia (Royalty) Nottingham.
She was a homemaker and owned the Byng Grocery with her husband for several years. She and her husband were both employees of the Texoma Park Rangers. She attended Streetman Road Baptist Church in Texoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Richard Cagle and one brother, Holbert Nottingham.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Cagle of Ada, Ok; one daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Mike Russell of Calvin, OK; five grandchildren and their spouses, Eddy and Clare Russell, Jeremy Cagle, Tammy Byrd, Kassie and Daniel Ingle and Lisa Cagle and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 13, 2002 at First Baptist Church in Calvin with Revs. Eddy Matthews and Bart Effinger officiating with Swearingen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in the Kingston Cemetery.
Verta Decker
Verta Decker, 90, of Leitchfield died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Grayson Manor in Leitchfield.
He was born on January 21, 1912, in Grayson County, as the son of John and Mary Lasley Decker.
He was a retired maintenance worker for Uniroyal Chemical Comany.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Eugene Decker.
He is surived by his wife, Mary Meredith Decker of Leitchfield; two sons, Ronnie and Efton Decker, both of Tennessee; two sister, Josie Adamand and Marie Lorison both of Illinois; two step-sons, Elroy and Earl Decker both of Anneta; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at the Old Time Holiness House of God in Anneta with Watson and Hunt Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in the Anneta Cemetery.
Irma Willis Decker
1947-2002
Irma Willis Decker, 55, of Clarkson died on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at her residence.
She was born on January 26, 1947 in Sadler as the daughter of Jesse Van and Blanch Newton Willis.
She was a homemaker and a member of the New Freedom General Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse and one sister, Alice Willis Carnes.
She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Decker of Clarkson; one son, Mark Decker of Clarkson; one daughter, Lorri Whobrey of Clarkson; her mother, Blanch Willis of Brownsville; five brothers, Harlan of Clarkson, Laymon and Randall both of Leitchfield, Frank of Illinois and Darrell Willis of Brownsville; two sisters, Mary Hayes and Carolyn McStoots both of Leitchfield; three grandchildren, Ashley Whobrey and Blake and Lacy Decker.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 17, 2002 at the New Freedom General Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Cockriel and Rev. Bill Logsdon officiating with Dermitt Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in the New Freedom Cemetery.
Robert Lindsey Jr.
1940-2003
Robert Lindsey Jr., age 62, of Leitchfield died on Friday, January 24, 2003 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 22, 1940 in Grayson County as the son of Robert and Dora McGrew Lindsey.
He was a retired linean from Gates Rubber Company, a Woodman of the World member, and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Ola Faye Lindsey of Leitchfield; five sons, Robert William, Thomas Dwayne, Roger Lee and David Edward Lindsey, all of Leitchfield, and Billy Ray Lindsey of Bardstown, Kentucky; one brother, Delmar Lindsey of Leitchfield; four sisters, Nellie Bratcher of Clarkson, Hattie Eldridge of Louisville, Kentucky, Margie Riggs of Indiana, and Maybell Boyd of Alburn, Kentucky. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services for cremation were held on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.
