Amanda Edna Skaggs Hornback, 86 of Cecilia, died Sunday, Nov. 16.
She was born on April 28, 1917, the daughter of Sam and Addie Hatfield Skaggs. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Addie Hatfield Skaggs and one son Jay Lona Hornback.
She is survived by five daughters Christine Jones of Elizabethtown, Ky., Mae Miles of Clarksville, Tenn.,Edith Rinaldi of Maryland, Diana Williams of Sonora, Ky., and Delmargo Kizer of Louisville, Ky.; three sons Bobby Gene, Lesley and Wesley Hornback all of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and two brothers James Hancil Skaggs of Big Clifty and Vanley Skaggs of Eastview, Ky. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Little Flock Church with Brother Earl Sanders officiating. Burial will be in the Little Flock Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 18 after 11 a.m. at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home.
Chester Eugene "Gene" Stanton
1934-2003
Chester Eugene "Gene" Stanton, age 69, of Reidsville, North Carolina, died on Friday, January 24, 2003 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was retired from American Tobacco Co. and head foreman and co-owner of Stanton's Stellite. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Lawsonville Road Baptist and was a member of Broadford Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lawrence F. Stanton and Eula Williams Stanton; two brothers, Franklin and Larry Stanton; and two sisters, Estella Dennis and Louise Downs.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Skaggs Stanton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" Stanton Underwood and Garry of Danville, Virginia; one son, Phil Stanton of Eden, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Laurel Underwood of Danville, Virginia and Julie Elizabeth Stanton of Eden, North Carolina; two brothers, Rev. Charles "Abb" Stanton of Upton, Kentucky and Conroy Stanton of Leitchfield; four sisters, Lorene Haycraft of Leitchfield, Dorothy "Dot" Brenham of Indiana, Winona Hawkins of Clarkson, Kentucky, and Sue Constant of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; one great aunt, Edith Clemons of Leitchfield; and a special mother-in-law, Zula Smith of Elizabethtown.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at Broadford Baptist Church with Rev. Abb Stanton officiating.
Burial was in the Stanton Cemetery.
Beulah Adkins
1902-2003
Beulah Adkins, age 100, of Leitchfield, died on Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky.
She was born on May 3, 1902 in Butler County, Kentucky, as the daughter of William and Sylvia Embry.
She was a housewife and a member of the Caneyville Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son, Aubrey Woosley of Zephr Hills, Florida; one daughter, Wanda Cassidy of Leitchfield; and one sister, Nova Huff of Valley Station, Kentucky. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 31, 3003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Larry A. Bunch officiating.
Burial was in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
Elton Lee Mudd
1945-2003
Elton Lee Mudd, age 57, of Caneyville, died on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the Bowling Green Medical Center.
He was born on November 7, 1945 as the son of Lloyd and Ruby Nash Mudd. He was an employee with the Leggett & Platt Co. in Leitchfield, and attended the New Assembly Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and his father.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Mudd of Caneyville; one daughter, Bridget Wilson of Morgantown; one son, Brad Mudd of Caneyville; his mother, Ruby Mudd of Caneyville; four brothers, Darrell, Donnie and Ronnie Mudd, and Eddie Crawford, all of Caneyville; and one sister, Gayle Taylor of Caneyville. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Rhiannon Wilson.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 4, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Lealin Geary officiating.
Burial was in the Wilson Cemetery.
Harvey Henderson
1921-2003
Harvey Henderson, age 82, of Clarkson, died on Sunday, July 27, 2003.
He was born on July 13, 1921, as the son of James and Lucinda Henderson.
He was retired from civil service at Fort Knox, Ky. He also served as Clarkson City Police, deputy sheriff, deputy jailer and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of the New Hope Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Pansy Henderson of Clarkson and four sons, Jerry, Kenny, James, and Steve Henderson, all of Clarkson.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Lucinda Henderson; one brother, Willie Henderson; and three sisters, Elsa Hawkins, Cora Gant and Nora Gibson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson with Bro. James Studer officiating.
Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery at Big Clifty.
