Christine Givens Pierce, age 81, of Leitchfield, died on Monday, October 13, 2003 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was born on December 20, 1921 in Mayland, Tenn., as the daughter of Clifford and Mable Oldham Givens. She was a retired bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Pierce.
She is survived by one son, Billy L. Pierce of Leitchfield; one brother, Charles Givens of Leitchfield; two sisters, Helen Embry of Steff and Genene Payne of Leitchfield. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Shelby Wright, Jeanie Bottom, Christina Pierce, Michael and Megan Skaggs and two special friends, Rose and LaDawn Lucas.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Rev. Ed Dermitt officiating.
Burial was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Timmy L. Logsdon
1970-2003
Timmy L. Logsdon, age 33, of Leitchfield died on Monday, January 27, 2003 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curt Logsdon.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Bryant of Leitchfield; one son, T. J. Logsdon of Elizabethtown; his mother, Dorothy Irene Priddy of Sonora, Kentucky; seven brothers, Charles, David, Danny and Ricky Logsdon, all of Upton, Kentucky, Buddy, Bobby and Michael Logsdon, all of Sonora; seven sisters, Judy Harris of Upton, Helen Puckett of Sonora, Norma Butler of Elizabethtown, Barbara Stanton and Sue Carter, both of Leitchfield, Pearl Logsdon of Clarkson, Kentucky, and Mary Weedman of Hodgenville, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the Manakee Funeral Home in Upton, Kentucky with Rev. Owen Riggs and Rev. Terry Priddy officiating.
Burial was in the Upton Cemetery.
Anthoinette Mercer
1918-2003
Anthoinette Mercer, age 84, of Leitchfield, died on Thursday, May 29, 2003 in Leitchfield.
She was born on November 16, 1918. She was retired from Kane Manufacturing Co.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliva Ray Mercer; her father and mother, John Richard Howard and Mallie Irene Harris Howard; one sister, Evelyn Burnett; and a great-grandchild, Jacob Vincent.
She is survived by her one daughter, Shirley Clark of Leitchfield; two granddaughters, Carolyn Milliner and Rhonda Armstrong; two grandsons, Norma Ray Clark and Jason Clark. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Watkins-Oller Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Douthitt officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
James E. Grigsby
1943-2003
James E. Grigsby, age 59, of Leitchfield, died on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at his residence.
He was born on October 18, 1943 in Louisville as the son of James C. and Lucille Brightwell Grigsby. He was a security guard for Brantley Security Company.
He is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Patterson, Connie McDonald, and Amanda Grigsby, all of Mt. Eden; one sister, Betty Sue Miller of Falls of Rough who cared for him; and one brother, Douglas Grigsby of Brandenburg. Also surviving are four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Howard Decker officiating. Cremation will followed the funeral service.
Philip R. (Phil) York
1928-2003
Philip R. (Phil) York, age 74, died on Saturday, October 18, 2003 in Bogota, Columbia, South America after a short illness.
He was born on December 23, 1928 as the son of the late Lawrence York and Lura Belle Scotton York.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Lucrecia Gama Moreno de York of Bogata, Columbia, South America; one daughter and son-in-law, Jade Camille York Polk and Syney Polk, both of San Francisco, Cal.; and one brother, Lynn York of Palestine, Illinois.
He retired in 1993 from CBI Industries, based in Chicago, Ill., after 47 years of dedicated service. Most of his career was spent as a manager of operations in Latin America. He was an owner of the Peoples Hardware Company, Inc. in Leitchfield and a real estate owner in Grayson County.
A veteran of the Korean War, Sergeant York serving two tours of duty with the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army.
A Catholic Mass was celebrated at Capilla de los Jardines del Recuerdo in Bogota, Columbia, South America on Sunday, October 19, 2003 with cremation services following.
A memorial service will be held in Hutsonville, Illinois. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Grayson County Historical Society of which his daughter is a member.
Dana Lenell Mudd
1974-2003
Dana Lenell Mudd, age 29, of Caneyville, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at her home.
She was born on November 17, 1974 in Grayson County as the daughter of Damon and Rita Hodge Wright. She was a housewife and was a member of Caneyville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Mudd of Caneyville; two daughters, Alanna and Alexis Mudd, both of Caneyville; her parents, Damon and Rita Hodge Wright of Caneyville; one brother and his wife, Tracy and Judy Wright of Caneyville; her grandmother, Nellie Hodge of Summitt; and one nephew, Christopher Wright.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. John Henry officiating.
Burial was in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
