Ravon Daugherty, age 84, of Welches Creek, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at the Bowling Green Medical Center.
He was born on January 9, 1919 as the son of Anderson and Ploya Pharris Daugherty. He was retired from Douglas Air Craft and a member of the Chapel Union Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; and one son, Jackson Daugherty.
He is survived by one son, Daniel R. Daugherty of Minnesota; three daughters, Doris Darlene Howard, Judith Ann Johnson and Diana Pinkley, all of Illinois; one brother, Kelcie Daugherty of Arizona; two sisters, Beulah Embry and Loretta Clutts, both of Ill. Also surviving are special friends Kenneth, Carolyn and Zachary Brooks.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Paul Lawrence officiating.
Burial was in the Chapel Union Cemetery.
Clifton "Joe" Fields
1912-2003
Clifton "Joe" Fields, age 91, of Leitchfield died on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
He was born on November 29, 1912, in Christian County as the son of Barney and Minnie Gamble Fields.
He was a retired automobile mechanic and was a member of the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge #236 F & AM.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Decker Fields; one son, Daniel Fields of Leitchfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Sonny Bartley of Louisville; one brother, Clay Fields of Hopkinsville; one sister, Hazel Clark of Florida. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Jason Fields, Donna Douglas, and Brian Trent and one great-grandchild, Laurel Ribbons.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, November 16, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Darrell Glenn officiating.
Bernice Franklin Skaggs
1923-2002
Bernice Franklin Skaggs, age 79, of Clarkson died on Monday, December 23, 2002 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
She was born on October 20, 1923 in Grayson County as the daughter of Clifford and Maude Haycraft Franklin.
She was a retired cook for the Grayson County School system and was a member of the Sulfur Wells Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester T. Skaggs, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one son, Verel Skaggs of Clarkson; two daughters, Cora Floyd and Janice Stanton of Leitchfield; one brother, Bro. Vanley Franklin of Clarkson; four sisters, Elaine Skaggs of Leitchfield, Estella Smith of Clarkson, Fannye Hayes of Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Louise Watson of New Mexico.
Also surviving are three grandsons and one granddaughter, Bryan Stanton, Barrett Floyd, Cameron Skaggs, and Laura Carroll; and one great-grandchild, Carleigh Carroll.
Norvel Joe Minton Sr.
1939-2003
Norvel Joe Minton Sr., age 64, of Louisville, Kentucky, died on Monday, March 24, 2003 at the Caritas Medical Center in Louisville.
He was born on February 10, 1939 in Grayson County as the son of Lonnie and Ollie Wilson Minton.
He was a self-employed plumber and a member of the Shrewsbury General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Louisville; five sons, Lonnie Lewis Minton of North Carolina, Norvel Joe Minton Jr., Jeff Crum, Ricky Gidcumb, and Wilbur Minton, all of Louisville; two daughters, Paula Decker of Louisville, and Tina Stroud of Tennessee; two sisters, Rose Lucian and Tina Lake, both of Louisville. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two special cousins, Robert and Clyde Kirtley, both of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Bro. Jackie Newton officiating, with cremation following.
N.D. Thelmer Willoughby
1939-2003
N.D. Thelmer Willoughby, age 64, of Welches Creek, Kentucky, died on Saturday, May 24, 2003 at the Bowling Green Medical Center.
He was born on March 17, 1939 in Butler County, Kentucky as the son of Delmar and Artie Lacefield Willoughby.
He was preceded in death by two half brothers, Arlos and Prayther Willoughby.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie Young Willoughby of Welches Creek; two sons, Carlos Thelmer Willoughby of Clarkson, Kentucky and Arlos Delbert Willoughby of Caneyville, Kentucky; two daughters, Carla Ann Flener and Charlene Willoughby Brooks, both of Caneyville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Garrett, Brianne and Alaina Willoughby of Clarkson, and Travis, Nicholas, and Kaitlyn Willoughby of Caneyville; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Willoughby of Clarkson, two brothers, McClellon Willoughby of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Charles Gaston Willoughby of Louisville, Kentucky; four sisters, Arnola Bishop and Ortense Hunt, both of Morgantown, Kentucky, Cordie Bryant of Louisville, and Ruby Jewell Embry of Owensboro, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 26, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Edward Dermitt officiating.
Burial was in the Chapel Union Cemetery.
Rita South
1962-2003
Rita South, age 41, of Brownsville, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at her residence. She was born on January 24, 1962 in Grayson County as the daughter of Roy and Mildred Decker-Lashley of Clarkson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth South and one brother-in-law, David South.
She is survived by her husband, Roger South of Brownsville; one son, Michael South of Brownsville; her parents, Roy and Mildred Lashley of Clarkson; one brother, Jimmy Lashley of Clarkson; two sisters, Beverly Twyford of Louisville and Regina Skaggs of Leitchfield; her mother-in-law, Pauline South of Brownsville; two aunts, Imogene Whitman and Hazel Lasley, both of Leitchfield; two uncles, Charles Lasley of Mt. Washington and Damon Lasley of Leitchfield. Also surviving are three nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield.
Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery in Clarkson.
