He was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church in Greenville. He was the Jr. class president at Muhlenberg South High School and academic team-captain of Quick Recall. He was on the Muhlenberg South tennis, soccer, and basketball teams. He was a member of National Honor Society, HOSA, Jr. Beta Club, Sr. Beta Club, FBLA where he was regional math competition winner and state runner up. He was Health Career club president, Duke talent identification program, student site based council member, student rep. for The Consolidated Plan, attended UCLA Youth and Medicine program, attended Pikeville School of Medicine program and had a 4.0 GPA.
He is survived by his mother, Sherry Winn of Greenville; his father, Danny Winn of Henderson, Kentucky; one sister, Olivia Nicole Winn of Greenville; his grandparents, Alvie and Wilma Lee of Leitchfield, Gene and Mary Cash of Louisville, D'Anna Winn of Radcliff, Kentucky; and great-grandparent, Agnes Johnson of Leitchfield.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Greenville, Kentucky with the Rev. Brent Waltrip officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, Kentucky.
William Givan
1920-2003
William Givan, age 82, of East View, Kentucky died on Monday, January 20, 2003 in Leitchfield.
He was born on September 13, 1920. He was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Givan; and his father and mother, Ote Givan and Matelda Skeeters Givan.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 24, 2003 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home.
Burial was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hardin Springs, Kentucky.
Elizabeth "Libby" Cherry
1927-2003
Elizabeth "Libby" Cherry, age 75, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, died on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the Greenview Regional Hospital.
She was born in Grayson County on November 15, 1927 as the daughter of Jack and Alma (Watson) Jewell. She was a homemaker and a member of Richpond Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Otha C. Cherry of Bowling Green; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan Cherry of Bowling Green; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy Cherry Hunt and Tim Hunt of Bowling Green; four brothers, Charles Jewell of Battletown, Kentucky, Harlan Jewell of Leitchfield, Richard Jewell and Eddie Jewell, both of Louisville, Kentucky; three sisters, Alice Cottrell and Mary Stevenson, both of Leitchfield, and Gertrude Coates of Millwood, Kentucky. Also surviving are grandchildren, Alex Cherry of Lexington, Kentucky, and Amy Cherry of Bowling Green.
A private funeral service was held.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
Walter S. Lee Sr.
1931-2003
Walter S. Lee Sr., age 72, of Louisville, died on Thursday, May 22, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Nema Ann Lee; five sons, Tommy, Eddie and David Logsdon and Lonnie and Walter Lee Jr.; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 27 at Little Clifty Methodist Church.
Burial was in the Little Clifty Methodist Church cemetery.
David M. Combs
1946-2003
David M. Combs, age 57 of Caneyville, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
He was born on May 27, 1946 as the son of Ban and Edna Caudill Combs. He was a retired truck driver and attended the Wilson Home Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Combs of Caneyville; one son, James Combs of Owensboro; three daughters, Kim Sermon of Leitchfield, Karen Reneer and Samantha Lee, both of Caneyville; two brothers, John Combs of Indiana and Rocky Combs of Louisville; three sisters, Vanda French of Indiana, Dianna Hayse of Caneyville, and Patty Williams of Leitchfield. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Joe Watson officiating.
Burial was in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
April Michelle Hayse
1980-2003
April Michelle Hayse, age 23, of Louisville died on Tuesday, November 1, 2003 at Caritas Medical Center.
She is survived by her mother, Anita Hayse and father, Robert Hayse; one brother, Robert Hayse Jr.; and her grandmother, Rosemary West.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 14, 2003 at Schoppenhorst & Underwood in Louisville.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.
