Rev. Gazava Willis, age 51, of Clarkson, Kentucky died on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
He was born August 15, 1951, in Grayson County as the son of Noble and Elsie Powell Willis.
He was a farmer and member of the Pleasant Valley Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rocky Logsdon Willis of Clarkson; his mother Elsie Willis of Clarkson; two sons, Tracy and Jesse Willis, both of Clarkson; two daughters, Ginger Dailey and Sara Riggs, both of Clarkson; two sisters, Dorothy Logsdon of Clarkson and Gerlene Howard of Big Clifty, Kentucky; three brothers, Alfred Willis of Upton, Kentucky, Wayne and Gary Willis, both of Clarkson. Also surviving 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Pleasant Valley Church in Clarkson.
Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Nellie Roberts Gill
s1921-2003
Nellie Roberts Gill, age 82 of Leitchfield, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at Nortons Hospital in Louisville.
She was born on August 16, 1921 in Axtel, the daughter of James and Fannie Mae Carroll Mingus.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Wanda Childress and Brenda Roberts.
She is survived by two sons, Hayward and Dale Roberts of Leitchfield; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at the Watson and Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 203 at the home of Watson and Hunt Funeral Directors in Leitchfield.
Juanita Virginia Higdon
1916-2002
Juanita Virginia Higdon, age 86, of Ardmore, Tennessee (formerly of Clarkson, Kentucky) died on Friday, December 27, 2002.
She was born on July 11, 1916.
She was a housewife and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Elbert Higdon; and her father and mother, Isaac and Lucy Mercer.
She is survived by one son, Dale Richard Higdon of Toney, Alabama; and one daughter, Lynda K. Wardrip of Leitchfield. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 2, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with the Rev. Martin E. Hayes officiating.
Burial was in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Big Clifty, Kentucky.
Henry Madison Miller
1905-2003
Henry Madison Miller, age 98, of Cross City, Florida, formerly of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, died on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainsville, Florida.
He was a Hardin County native.
He was a member of the Smith's Chapel United Methodist Church, and a businessman in farming, bulldozing and the sawmill industry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Hazel Beeler Miller; parents, James and Catherine Humble Miller.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary C. Miller of Cross City, Florida; three sister-in-laws, Evelyn, Ellen and Jenny Beeler, all of Elizabethtown; several nieces nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Rev. Bill Rounsaville, Rev. Thomas Powell and Father Bill Fichteman officiating.
Burial was in the St. James Cemetery.
Helen Elizabeth Grant
1926-2003
Helen Elizabeth Grant, age 77, of Louisville, died on Thursday, March 27, 2003 at her daughter's residence.
She was the former Helen E. Higdon, a native of Grayson County, Kentucky. She was a seamstress for Brandy's Draperies and a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church and the Marian Guild.
She is survived by her three sons, Wayne, Carl and Gary Grant; three daughters, Lillie Mitchell, Rita Long and Janice Yonce; four sisters, Mildred Grant, Mary Catherine Grant, Anna Rose Messenger and Bernadette Chambers; three brothers, Russell, Chester and Floyd Higdon; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 31, 2003 at her church.
Burial was in the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum.
