Lloyd Eugene Roof, age 65, of Leitchfield died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.
He was born on May 15, 1938, in Grayson County, Ky., as the son of Jesse Thomas and Mable Ellen King-Roof.
He was a member of the Nazerene Church of Clarkson and a employee of the Grayson County Road Department.
He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Roof.
He was survived by his wife, Betty Sue Brown-Roof of Owensboro, Ky.; three sons, Gregory Roof, Thomas Roof, and Nathan Roof, all of Leitchfield; two daughters, Karen Staats of West Virginia and Tammy Shackelford of Sonora, Ky.; five brothers, Earl Roof, Carl Roof, Merle Roof, and Gerald Roof, all of Big Clifty, and Richard Roof of Valley Station, Ky.; six sisters, Wanda Wright and Charlene Wright, both of Caneyville, Louise Fulkerson of Big Clifty, Doris Brown of Clarkson, and Debbie Felty and Sandra Beasley, both of Leitchfield. Also surviving are five grandsons, three granddaughters, and three step-granddaughters also survive, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 13, 2003 at the Watson and Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield.
Burial was in the Sanders Cemetery in Leitchfield.
Shirley Cash Tharpe
1938-2003
Shirley Cash Tharpe, age 65, of Elizabethtown, died on Monday, August 4, 2003 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was born on July 28, 1938 in Glasgow as the daughter of Jack and Kaye Walker Cash.
She was a childcare provider, was with the Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years and was a member of First Christian Church in Elizabethtown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Tharpe.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Jo Ann Tharpe of Leitchfeild; one daughter, Debbie Tharpe of Elizabethtown; one sister, Jackie Pursley of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Kristen, Kim and Amy Tharpe, all of Leitchfield. Also surviving are a niece and nephew, Matt Pursley and Mandy Birge.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Rev. James Jessie and Rev. Garry Watkins officiating.
Burial will be in the Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Vernon Clay Cook
1923-2002
Vernon Clay Cook, age 80, of Leitchfield died Sunday, December 8, 2002 at Grayson Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on March 19, 1923 and was a member of New Freedom Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Frank and Julia Bradley Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Cook of Leitchfield; three daughters, Audrey Willis of Clarkson, Marcella Logsdon of Sadler, and Roxanna Wood of Leitchfield.
Also surviving 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at New Freedom Church with the Bro. Bill Logsdon officiating.
Burial was in the New Freedom Cemetery.
Rita Tarrence
1941-2003
Rita Tarrence, age 61, of Louisville died on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at her residence.
She was born on November 28, 1941 in Louisville as the daughter of James F. and Imelda Smith Suell.
She is survived by her husband, James L. Tarrence of Louisville; one son, James H. Tarrence of Louisville; one daughter, Vickie Lynn Lewis of Louisville; one brother, Raymond Suell of Louisville; and one sister, Charlene Keanny of Georgia. Also surviving are five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 28, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Raymond Napper officiating.
Burial was in the Tarrence Cemetery.
Mary Jane Woosley
1936-2002
Mary Jane Woosley, age 66, of Caneyville died on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at her residence.
She was born on January 19, 1936 as the daughter of William and Myrtle Wilson.
She is survived by one son, Ralph Louis Woosley of Owensboro; three daughters, Hellen Overton, Connie Jean Oller and Judy Ann Edwards, all of Caneyville; her mother, Myrtle Wilson of Caneyville; three brothers, Sonny, Lasco and William E. Wilson; two sisters, Cora Mae Cardwell and Phyllis Gumm. Also surviving 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at the Wilson Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Watson officiating.
Burial was in the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville.
