Nash J. Luzon, 72, of Louisville died on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Baptist Hospital East.
He was a native of Louisville, a retired photo composer for Various Comp Inc. for over 40 years, an Army Veteran of the Korean War, former member of St. James Catholic Church and a current member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Comer Luzon; four daughters, Sharon Arnold, Julie Clifford, Angie Gibson and Elizabeth Wolfe; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Kimberly, Mallory, Amy, Kara, Kelly Lee and Shannon, and an aunt, uncle and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church with Highlands Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery.
Cordelia M. Spencer
1938-2002
Cordelia M. Spencer, 69, of Clarkson formerly of Louisville died on August 19, 2002 in Elizabethtown.
She was born on August 18, 1933 in Louisville as the daughter of James C. and Mary C. Fowler Nally.
She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Louisville and attened St. Benedict Catholic Church at Wax.
She is survived by her husband, John Dee Spencer of Clarkson; two daughters, Sandra Nichter of LaGrange and Angela Sewell of Bardstown; two sons, Ricky and Tony Spencer both of Louisville; two brothers, Jay and John Nally both of Louisville; two sisters, Mary Nally and Margaret Ziegler both of Louisville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Wax with Watson and Hunt Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in the St. Benedict Cemetery.
Dora C. Burkhead
1909-2002
Dora C. Burkhead, 93, of 481 Hilton Mill Road, Leitchfield died on Thursday, August 15, 2002 in Louisville.
She was born on January 30, 1909 as the daughter of the late James S. Clark and Nancy Givens Clark.
She was retired from American Tobacco Company.
She is survived by one sister, Marie Miller; one step-granddaughter, Mary Emma Jarboe and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Watkins-Oller Funeral Home with Bro. Hubert Clark officiating.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Robert J. Embry
1911-2002
Robert J. Embry, 90, of Caneyville, died on Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the Lakeview Nursing Home in Morgantown.
He was born on September 4, 1911 as the son of Henry and Zaney Ingram Embry.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Faith Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie and one son, S.D. Embry.
He is survived by two sons, Lester R. Embry of Leitchfield and Wendell Kenneth Embry of Caneyville; two daughters, Freda Matlock of Caneyville and Regina Pack of Louisville; one brother, Shelby Embry of Indiana; three sisters, Crystal Woodcock of Caneyville, Margaret Miller and Hazel Small both of Louisville; nineteen grandchildren, thirty six great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Bro. Gary Embry officiating.
Burial was in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
Junior Cain
1924-2002
Junior Cain, age 78, of Clarkson died on Sunday, November 10, 2002 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
He was born on May 18, 1924 as the son of the late Hesse Ki and Frances Hodge Cain. He was a member of the Grayson Co. Saddle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Cain of Clarkson; two sons, Ronald Cain of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Dennis Cain of Bowling Green; three step-daughters, Monica Riley and Melanie Alvey, both of Leitchfield, and D. D. Johnston of Constantine; two step-sons, Sidney Alvey of Leitchfield, and Michael Alvey of Seattle, Washington; two brothers, Pete Cain of Big Clifty, and Jesse Cain of Clarkson; two sisters, Mary Nevitt of Leitchfield, and Cordie Sims of Illinois.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home with Bro. Wilbur Oller officiating.
Burial was in the Clarkson Cemetery.
