Ruth Sipes Miller, age 70, died on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was born on June 21, 1933 as the daughter of Clarence and Ester Pastor Sipes.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil B. Miller of Leitchfield; one sister, Jean Haycraft of Leitchfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy Sipes and Paul Sipes; two sisters, Bessie Stevenson and Mary Meredith.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 24, 2003 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel.
Burial was in the Little Flock Cemetery in Clarkson.
John William (J.W.) Givens
1911-2003
John William (J.W.) Givens, age 92, died on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Grayson Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on October 19, 1911 as the son of the late John A. and Nellie Peak Givens. He was a veteran of WWII, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He served his country in the United States Army and in the United States Navy. He was a member of Clarkson Baptist Church where he served as a past deacon and was a member of the choir. He loved his Lord and shared his love with everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois Givens; and his grandchildren, Leslie and Mike Dicus.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William and Mildred Bruner of Austin, Texas; and a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bob Mercer of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are three grandsons, David and DeWayne Bruner of Texas and Robert Eugene Mercer of Nevada; one granddaughter, Regina Connell of Nevada; two great-granddaughters and seven great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 24, 2003 at Clarkson Baptist Church with Bro. Art Hatfield officiating.
Burial was in the Owensboro Memorial Gardens in Owensboro.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson were in charge of the arrangement.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Clarkson Baptist Church building fund.
Jason Tyler Frank
1977-2003
Jason Tyler Frank, 26 of Clarkson, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003 as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born on June 16, 1977, in Nelson County, the son of Willard Frank and Wanda Childress Bradley.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and Jerald Frank.
He is survived by two children, Cethina Lynn and Eddy Frank of Campbellsville, Ky.; his father and step-mother, Willard and Ruby Frank of Leitchfield; his mother and step-father, Wanda and James Bradley of Clarkson; four brothers, Timmy of North Carolina, Kip of Leitchfield, Jeff of Tousey, and Anthony Frank of Clarkson; four step-sisters, Tena Higdon of Caneyville, Ara Crimes of Brooks, Ky., Rose Downs of Clarkson and Latsha Bradley of Leitchfield; two step-brothers, Jamie Bradley of Leitchfield and Neil Harrison of Clarkson.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Brother Gary Woosley and Brother Lonnie Childress officiating. Burial will be in the Claggett cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield after 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25.
Reta Moutardier
1915-2003
Reta Moutardier, age 88, of Leitchfield died on Monday, October 20, 2003 at her residence.
She was born on July 31, 1915 in Grayson County as the daughter of James and Mary Scott VanMeter. She was a housewife and a member for 52 years of the Mulberry Flats United Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Hubert Moutardier Jr. of Clarkson, James and Larry Moutardier, both of Leitchfield, and Robert Moutardier of Owensboro; three daughters, Rose Lucas and Mary Mercer, both of Leitchfield, and Ruth Young of Glendale; five brothers, Billy, Berthel, Carl and Joe Mourtardier, all of Leitchfield and John VanMeter of Texas; one sister, Lorene Wooldridge of Leitchfield. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Rev. Edward Dermitt officiating.
Burial was in the Mulberry Flats Cemetery.
Earl Ross Shrewsbury
1918-2003
Earl Ross Shrewsbury, age 85, of Leitchfield died on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at the Friendship Manor in Pee Wee Valley.
He was born on February 20, 1918 in Caneyville as the son of Damon and Grace Snider Shrewsbury.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Roby Shrewsbury of Leitchfield; three daughters, Barbara Hulsmeyer and Sharon Allen, both of Louisville, and Judy Sharer of Elizabethtown; three sons, Bill Shrewsbury of Versailes, Mark Shrewsbury of Augusta, Ga., and Tim Shrewsbury of Avon, Ind.; one brother, Richard Paul Shrewsbury of LaGrange, Ga.; and one sister, Frances Vollmer of Mt. Sterling. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Ralph Shrewsbury.
A funeral mass was held on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Leitchfield.
