Donie Myrtle Bratcher, age 90 of Morgantown, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1912 in Ohio County, the daughter of Calvin and Mary Swift Beasley. She was a housewife and attended the Zion Harmony Baptist Church.
She was recede in death by her husband, John Martin Bratcher; three sons, Johnny, Dorse, and Dewight Bratcher and two daughters, Irene and Janet Bratcher.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis Bratcher of Caneyville, and Joe Bratcher of Morgantown; seven daughters, Pat Sermon of Horse Branch; Sue Beasley of Caneyville; Vernece Mason, Emma Snodgrass, and Letha Burden , all of Morgantown; Verlene Johnson of Owensboro; and Viva Sermon of Columbus, OH.
Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Zion Harmony Baptist Church in Caneyville. Reverend Gary Embry will be officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003.
Nina Meredith Alvey
Nina Meredith Alvey of Clarkson died on Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Elizabethtown.
She was born on June 27, 1917. She was a retired grocery store owner, retired from G.E. in Louisville, antique dealer, farm operator, and a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Alvey of Clarkson; two daughters, Imogene Belcher and Maxine Edwards, both of Clarkson; one son, Larry Meredith of Clarkson; two step-sons, Paul Alvey Jr. and Carl Thomas Alvey, both of Indiana; four step-daughters, Teresa Ann Anderson, Debra Sue Decker, Lorinda Whitlow and Rose Mary Alvey, all of Indiana. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 14 step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James (Jimich) and Martha Ann Logsdon Haycraft.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 23, 2003 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Abb Stanton officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mayme Downs
1918-2003
Mayme Downs, age 85, of Grayson Manor Nursing Home died on Thursday, October 9, 2003 in Leitchfield.
She was born on October 4, 1918 as the daughter of the late Joe and Birdie Layman Pearl. She was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church and former employee of Aide Acres.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Downs; and son, Roby Downs.
She is survived by one sister, Alice Vincent of Leitchfield; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Gilbert of Louisville.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home with Bro. Clifford Ward officiating.
Burial was in the Little Flock Cemetery.
Betty Ann Henke
1928-2003
Betty Ann Henke, 83 of Leitchfield, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at her residence. She was born Feb. 7, 1928 in Flint, Mic., to Carl D. and Elizabeth O'Carroll Chapell.
She is survived by three sons, Norman Henke of Leitchfield; Steven C. Henke of Cleveland, Oh., and William Kurt Henke of Clarksdale, Mi.; and one daugther, Christine E. Moll of Leitchfield.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Watson and Hunt Funeral Directors in Leitchfield.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in the form of donations to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Central Kentucky, National Kidney Foundation, and the Episcopal of Church of Unication of Homes Beach, Florida.
Alma Fay Carter
1933-2003
Alma Fay Carter, age 69, of Louisville died on Monday, September 15, 2003 in Beijing, China.
She was born on September 29, 1933 in Neafus. She was retired from Phillip Morris USA and a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church.
She is survived by one brother Hubert L. Carter, eight neices and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Bro. Leonard Embry officiating.
Burial was in the Neafus Cemetery.
Hazel G. Johnson
1923-2003
Hazel G. Johnson, age 79, of Leitchfield died on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
She was born on August 10, 1923 in Grayson County, Kentucky as the daughter of Gus and Annie Overton Langley.
She was a housewife and attended the Mt. Hebron Church.
She was preceded in death by one son, Randy Corley; and one grandson, Ronald Waldridge.
She is survived by her husband, Hoy Johnson of Leitchfield; two daughters, Glenda Alvey of Morgantown, Kentucky, and Jane Waldridge of Leitchfield; two sisters, Aileen Brown of Louisville and Faye Stankwich of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Corley Kirby, Debra McKnight, Karen Brooks and Mary Phelps; five great-grandchildren, Crystal and Joshua McKnight, Amanda Lyons, Tiffany Phelps, and Brittany Brooks.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Rev. Nathan Lowe officiating.
Burial was in the Duff Cemetery.
