Damon Johnson, 68 of Louisville, Ky., died Saturday, August 2, 2003 at Caritas Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born on February 6, 1935, in Grayson County, Ky., the son of Eddie Walton and Lois Hayes Johnson. He was a construction worker for the Mattingly Bridge Co.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ferrier Johnson of Louisville; one son and daughter-in-law, Damon Jr. and Tracey of Louisville; one daughter, Lisa Pridemore of Louisville; seven sisters, August Blair of Louisville; Catherine Haynes, Lorene Oller, Lucille Shirrell and Opal Skaggs, all of Leitchfield; Juanita Staggs of Arkansas; and Marcella Mitchell of Lexington, Ky. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kimberly and Kelly Johnson and Whitney Pridemore and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 5 at 1 p.m. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield after 4 p.m. Sunday.
Ricky DeWayne Risner
1973-2003
Ricky DeWayne Risner, age 30, of Eastview died on Sunday, October 26, 2003 at his residence.
He was born on August 7, 1973. He was a self-employed licensed plumber.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Risner of Eastview; and son, Jacob Avery Risner.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 11 a.m. CST at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home with Bro. Buril Pitcock officiating.
Burial will be in the Meeting Creek Church Cemetery.
Charles D. McKenna
1930-2003
Charles D. "Peewee" McKenna, age 73, of Clarkson (formerly of Louisville) died on Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at his residence.
He was a retired employee of General Electric where he worked for 35 years, and a Marine veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Gloria Elzey; daughters, Denise Hoben, Diane O'Bryan, and Donna Roberts; and a son, Doug McKenna. Also surviving are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son in Louisville.
Entombment was in the Evergreen Mausoleum.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Central Ky. or the Big Clifty Methodist Church.
Juanita M. Justis Wilson Stewart
1919-2003
Juanita M. Justis Wilson Stewart, age 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, died on Friday, June 6, 2003 at Norton's Audobon Hospital in Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, James L. Stewart; one son, James D. Wilson; one daughter, Alice Garrison; two brothers, Richard E. Justis Jr. and Paul Justis; three sisters, Virginia Smith, Mayron Cockrel, and Norma Stratford. Also surviving are five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville.
Burial was in the Wilson Home Cemetery.
Jeff Lynn Basham
1962-2003
Jeff Lynn Basham, age 40, of Leitchfield, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at his residence.
He was born on October 6, 1962 in Leitchfield.
He was a truck driver and was a member of Pine Knob Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Logsdon Basham of Leitchfield; two step-daughters, Gina Reed of Leitchfield and Crystal Mudd of Big Clifty; one step-son, Billy Mudd of Caneyville; his parents, Lynda and James Dudgeon of Leitchfield and John Basham of Henderson; one brother, Kevin Basham of Caneyville; two sisters, Fleshia Mudd and Kim Parsons, both of Caneyville; one half-sister, Shanna; his maternal grandparents, Preston and Reba Noblett of Leitchfield. Also surviving are eight step-grandchildren and special friends and caregivers, Judy and Barry and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Revs. Jerry Vincent, Vernon White, and Frankie Tennison officiating.
Burial was in the Duff Cemetery.
James Daniel "Jimmy" Chapman
1945-2003
James Daniel "Jimmy" Chapman, age 58, of Lindale, Texas died on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at his home in Lindale, Texas.
He was born on March 15, 1945 as the son of Henry M. and Zellah Vandiver Chapman. He was owner and operator of J. & E. Sales food catering service and was a member of the Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Erma Snoddy Chapman of Lindale, Texas; one step-son, John E. Geary II of Hardinsburg; one step-sister, Willow Huerta of California; and a special niece, Jeann Huerta of California. Also surviving are five step-grandchildren, some uncles, aunts and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, August 3, 2003 at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Bro. John Geary II and Bro. Marty Huddleston officiating.
Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery.
