Minnie Opal Neff, age 77 of Big Clifty, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at her residence.
She was born October 6, 1934 in Grayson County, Kentucky the daughter of Daniel and Virgie Dennison King.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Neff, of Big Clifty; eight children, Harold Mattingly, of Elizabethtown, Danny Mattingly, of Louisville, Steve Mattingly, of Clarkson, Ronnie Mattingly, of Big Clifty, Gloria Hayes, of Breckinridge County, Sherry Hash, of Leitchfield, Tommy Mattingly, of Big Clifty, and Ralph Mattingly, of Clarkson; three step-children, Chris Neff, of Leitchfield, Billy Neff, of Caneyville, and Joey Neff, of Anneta; one sister, Alberta Gaither, of Leitchfield; 23 grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 18 step-great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Mattingly, one daughter, Linda Haydon, three brothers, Bradley, Calvin, and Gene King, and two sisters, Mabel and Emma Ruth.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel, in Leitchfield with Bro. Damon Lashley officiating. Burial was in the Eveleigh Cemetery.
Mary Burnetta Pierce
Mary Burnetta Pierce, 71, formerly of Clarkson, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 .
She was a member of St. Benedict Parish.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Kate Pierce and a daughter Deborah Lewis.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Tony) Kinser, of Elizabethtown; a son, Timmy (Judy) Pierce, of New Port Richey; a granddaughter, Lauren Kinser; a brother, Carmel (Faye) Sego; a sister,Winnie Pierce, all of Louisville, and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen, a graveside memorial will be held at a later date.
Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, in Vine Grove is in charge of arrangements.
Michale Terry Rough
Michale Terry Rough, age 54 of Bee Spring, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at his residence.
He was born September 29, 1958 in Leitchfield, the son of Clarence “Bud” Rough and Mary Hazel Clark Rough.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jamie Rough, of Roundhill, and Mandy Higdon, of Peonia; two sisters, Joan Warren, of Shepherdsville, and Barbara Clark, of Clarkson; one brother, William “Pumpkin” Rough, of Sellersburg, IN; five grandchildren, Chelsea and Riley Higdon, both of Peonia, Chasity, Haleigh, and Taylor LaPorte, all of Roundhill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Sonny Rough.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, in Clarkson, with Father Brian Johnson officiating. Burial wasin the St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Helen Horn
Helen Horn, 75, of Clarkson, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her home.
She was born on October 12, 1937 and was a housewife and faithful supporter of WJCR Radio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Glendon Horn; an infant son, James Verlin; her parents, Earl and Lucy Williams Witten; and her brothers, Alton, Elwood, Harry, Carl and Donald Witten.
She is survived by five daughters, Sharon (Tommy) Kiper of Leitchfield; Bonnie (Wayne) Rushing of Cecilia; Donna (Kelly) Overton of Clarkson; Kyanna (Tom) Grace of Bowling Green; and Denise Carol (Michael) Roof of Paducah; a sister, Louise Boone of Clarkson; a brother, Glen Witten of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Helen Horn will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home. Rev. Ron Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday after 9 a.m. at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home.
Kalvin Lynn King
Kalvin Lynn King, 42, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away on May 6, 2013. He was born February 9, 1971 to the late Cyrus King, Jr. and Geneva Odell King. He worked 25 years as a logger. Kalvin was a loving son and devoted father.
Survivors include his mother, Geneva Odell King of Leitchfield, his former wife, Wendy England King, one son, CJ Lynn King (Alishia Caswell) of Clarkson, two daughters, Falisha Ann and Maria Michelle King of Sadler, one granddaughter, Sara Lynn King (CJ & Alishia). Surviving brothers include Jonathon King (Bobbi) of Annetta, Gabriel King (Shelly) of Sadler, and Emmanuel King (Heather) of Sadler. Surviving sisters include Melinda Baum (John) of Louisville, Margaret Butler (Nick) of Radcliff, and Mellonee Tilford (Daniel) of Clarkson.
Kalvin is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and two great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by a younger sister, Melissa Ann King and an older brother, Clevan Earl King as well as his daddy, Cyrus King, Jr.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at New Freedom Church in Leitchfield. Bro. Howard Shartzer with the help of Bros. Denvard Decker and David King will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.
Visitation will be at New Freedom Church from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
The Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield is in charge of the arrangements.
Randall Lewis Alvey, Sr.
Randall Lewis Alvey, Sr., age 82 of Leitchfield passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield. He was born March 25, 1931 in Grayson County, Kentucky the son of Samuel & Grace Childress Alvey. He was a line worker for the Pilsbury Company and a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Carroll White Council #6743 and the Father Michael J. McGiveny Fourth Degree Assembly #3021.
He is survived by his children, Gary Alvey & Mark Alvey both of Bowling Green, Donna Perkins (Troy) of Clarkson, Randy Alvey (Jana) of Leitchfield, and Joe Alvey of Louisville, KY and five grandchildren, Emily Alvey, Allison Alvey, Gavin Alvey, Machala Perkins, & Chance Perkins.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Sims-Alvey, one grandson, Matt Alvey, five brothers, Arnold, Herley, James Lee, Les, & Frank Alvey, and one sister, Lorene Sims.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday (June 15, 2013) at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Peonia with Father Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 3:00 p.m., Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield.
