Maurice Embry Gartin, age 79, of Owensboro died on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
She was born December 12, 1924 to the late William G. and Annie Overton Embry in Ohio County. She was a retired registered nurse and had worked at Ohio County Hospital and Owensboro Daviess County Hospital. She attended Good Shepherd Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura Taylor of Owensboro and Anna Baird-Hensley of Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Loris Kessinger of Louisville; and one brother, Wilford Embry of Leitchfield. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Benjamin Travis Baird and Ryan A. Taylor, both of Lexington, Christopher T. Baird of Bowling Green, and Courtney B. Taylor of Owensboro; and one great-grandchild, Destiny Rain Hatchett.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bradford "Brady" Embry, Winford "Winnie" Embry and William Embry Jr.; and one sister, Lillis Phelps.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Glenn Funeral Home.
Burial was in Rosine Cemetery.
Frances McGrew
1925-2004
Frances McGrew, age 77, of Leitchfield died on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at her residence.
She was born on December 5, 1925 in Edmonson County as the daughter of Jack and Mary Woodcock.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Ann McGrew.
She is survived by two sons, Danny McGrew of Ind. and Randy Scott of Bullitt County; two daughters, Sara McGrew of Leitchfield and Mary Harms of Elizabethtown; four sisters, Cova Saling, Vonnie Elmore and Delola Harrod, all of Edmonson County, and Ruby Messenger of Leitchfield. Three granddaughters, Carmen, Tina and Lori; three great-grandchildren; and many friends also survive.
Mrs. McGrew donated her remains to the University of Louisville Medical School. A memorial service is planned at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors.
Thomas Edward Dan
1932-2004
Thomas Edward Dan, age 71, of Leitchfield died on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at his residence.
He was born on August 9, 1932 in Indianapolis, Ind. as the son of Sam and Ruth Hingus Dan. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by three daughters, Karen Dan of Fla., Debbie Dan of New York, and Tammera Dan Grubs of Leitchfield; two sons, Mike Dan of Fla. and Tommy Dan of SC; two brothers, Jack Dan of Ind. and Robert Dan of SC; two sisters, Mildred Dan and Martha Dan, both of Ind.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Joseph Franklin Compton
1923-2004
Joseph Franklin Compton, age 80, of Clarkson died on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at his residence.
He was born on September 11, 1923. He was a carpenter, farmer, and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvie Marie Newton Compton; his parents, Robert Ernest and Mary Ethel Leslie Compton; and one sister, Theresa Darnell.
He is survived by two sons, Roger Compton of Elizabethtown and Jerry Compton of Clarkson; two daughters, Judy Armes of McDaniels and Patricia Hawke of Cookville, Tenn.; one brother, Robert Compton of Leitchfield; and one sister, Nora Alice Dodge of Leitchfield. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home.
Lucille Smith
1918-2004
Lucille Smith, age 85, of Leitchfield died on Monday, January 5, 2004 at her residence.
She was born on August 04, 1918. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Augustine Church, Senior Citizens Center Coordinator, and a farmer and gardner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus "Buck" Smith; one son, James Howard Smith; her parents, Dent and Myrtle Hill Higdon; and one grandson, Perry Grant.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William and Nivatta Smith of Clarkson; two daughters, Carol and husband Raymond Hill of Clarkson, and Anna Annie Bernice Grant of Louisville; special daughter-in-law, Carolyn Logsdon and husband Wendell of Clarkson; two brothers, Altus Higdon of Clarkson and Henry "Pete" Higdon of Louisville; two sisters, Ruby Alvey of Louisville and Geraldine Haycraft of Miami, Fla. Also surviving are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 8, 2004 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Bro. Brian Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the St. Augustine Cemetery.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Maxie Herschell Park

Died: Tue., Feb. 17, 2015
Maxie Herschell Park, 68, of Caneyville, passed away Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on February 22nd, 1946 in Grayson County, the son of the late Cecil and Dorothy (Woosley) Park. He was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Millwood. Maxie always loved and supported his family and always made them his top priority. He was a hard worker who loved being a handyman for anyone that he knew needed help. When he wasn’t able to do it himself, he would show them how to do it.
Maxie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty (Stone) Park; their four children, Matthew Park (Angie) of Breckinridge County, Mark Park (Connie) of Caneyville, Holly McClure (Joey) and Bethany Wadsworth (William) both of Caneyville; one brother, Eugene Park of Rineyville; three sisters, Della MCloud of IN, Dimple Oller and Beverly Smith both of Caneyville; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Luke Park; two sisters, Evellein Payton and Virginia Hamilton and one brother, Dewayne Parks.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 24th at 1:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro George Langdon and Bro Joey McClure will be officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Monday after 12:00 pm and Tuesday from 9:00 am until time of service.
