Willis Clark, age 76, of Falls of Rough died on Monday, January 5, 2004 in Louisville.
He was born on September 26, 1927. He was a member of Grayson County Cattleman's Association and a member of Stonesview Methodist Church and a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Clark; and his parents, Wavie and Alma Patterson Clark.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas W. and Paula Dee Clark of Louisville; one daughter and son-in-law, Glennis Sue and Jerry Pelfrey of Paris; two brothers, Wavie Clark of Louisville and Herman Clark of Short Creek. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Melissa D. Clark, Tracie R. Clark, and Juan Gerald Pelfrey; two great-grandchildren, Jerry Michael Pelfrey and Madison Lee Pelfrey.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 9, 2004 at Watkins-Oller Funeral Hoe with Rev. Delmer Williams and Rev. Paul Williams officiating.
Burial was in the Spurrier Chapel.
S.L. "Shady" Givan
1931-2004
S.L. "Shady" Givan, age 72, of Caneyville died on Monday, January 5, 2004 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green after a long illness.
He was born on October 25, 1931 as the son of Carlos and Agnes (Thompson) Givan. He was a retired highway contractor and the former mayor of Caneyville. He was a past member of the Kentucky Association of Highway Contractors and a member of the Caneyville Masonic Lodge (635).
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Clarke) Givan; three sons, Steve Givan of Plainfield, Ill., Robert Buehl of Smith's Grove and Eric Buehl of Queen Anne, MD; three daughters, Ashley Givan of Bowling Green, Lisa Givan Skaggs of Leitchfield and Cindy Buehl Turner of Bowling Green; two brothers, Robert Givan of Louisville and Phillip Givan of Cache, Okl.; and one sister, Dorothy Hooper of Caneyville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville.
Burial was in the Kelly Cemetery.
Floid South
1927-2004
Floid South, age 76, of Drasco, Ark., died on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Hebeer Springs, Ark.
He was born on April 2, 1927 in South, Ky. as the son of Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Salings South.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann (Knight) South of Drasco, Ark.; one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and JoAnn South of Ida, Ark.; two daughters, Karen South and Carol South, both of Nevada; five brothers, Veeland South of Texas, James South and Albert South, both of Louisville, Johnny south of Atlanta, Ga., and Connell South of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Jewel South and Ruby Alford, both of Louisville; and one granddaughter, Cynthia South.
He was preceded in death by his brother David South.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, Ark.
Graveside services were held on Friday, January 9, 2004 at South Union Cemetery in Grayson County.
Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors was in charge of local arrangements.
Leonard Pierce
1920-2003
Leonard Pierce, age 83, of Leitchfield died on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at his residence.
He was born on January 30, 1920. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was retired from D. G. Hayes.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Pierce of Leitchfield; five sons, Bruce Pierce of Clarkson, Roger, Johnny and Timmy Pierce, all of Leitchfield, and Tommy Pierce of Stephensburg; three daughters, Joyce Green, Libby Pierce and Kathy Bell, all of Leitchfield; four sisters, Eula Gross of Leitchfield, Mary Charles Johnston of Clarkson, Billie Johnston of Hart County, Ruby Swallen of Indiana; and a special friend, Junior Alvey of Leitchfield. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Lush Pierce.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 12, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Dave Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Frank Probus
1943-2003
Hiram "Frank" Probus, age 60, died on Monday, December 15, 2003 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, Il.
He was born January 1, 1943 in Grayson County as the son of Marvin H. and Gauda Johnson Probus. He served in the U.S. Army and was an over-the-road truck driver and a blacksmith. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was a member of the bluegrass band, The Moonshiners.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Wheeler; his parents; and one brother, Floyd.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Turpin of Bloomington, Il.; three sisters, Charity (Scottie) Bradbury, Jacqueline (David) Rever, Wapella and Mary (Jimmy) Anderson, all of Bloomington, Il.; four brothers, Bias (Dorothy) Probus of Aurora, Col., Gordon (Shirley) Probus of Forest City, Il., Melvin (Catherine) Probus, Heyworth and Fred "Boots" (Pam) Probus, Bloomington; and one grandson, Cody.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. He was cremated. Private inurnment will be at Nolin Lake, Ky.
