Harlie Williams, age 97, of Upton, Ky., died on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehab in Elizabethtown.
He was a member of Little Clifty Methodist Church, a farmer, ran a store in Millerstown and Upton and was a star route carrier for Clarkson for 21 years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Manion Williams; father, John Isom Williams; mother, Vina Fulkerson Williams; infant son, Adrian Williams; two brothers, Everett Williams and Ernest Williams. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Martha Sue Williams.
He is survived by son, Norbert Williams of Sonora, Ky.; granddaughter, Norita Wink of Sonora; grandsons, Mark Williams of Upton and Michael Williams of Sonora. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and niece, Louvene Weatherholt.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 29, 2004 at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton with Rev. Clifford Ward officiating.
Burial was in the Old Lone Oak Cemetery.
Dennis Ray Baunach
Dennis Ray Baunach, age 57, of Beaver Dam, Ky., died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, Ky.
He was born October 2, 1946 to Joseph Andrew and Elizabeth Threedouble Baunach in Louisville, Ky. He was an electrician and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Handyman Club of America.
He is survived by two sons, Tommy Hazelrigg and Joseph Baunach, both of Leitchfield; one daughter, Elizabeth Basham of Leitchfield
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel.
Burial was in the Sanders Cemetery in Leitchfield with Bro. Mark Claypool officiating.
Shelby Hank Whobrey
Shelby Hank Whobrey, age 72, of Leitchfield, died on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1931 as the son of Simon and Daisy Burden Whobrey.
He is survived by one brother, Carl Whobrey of Leitchfield; two sisters, Lottie Decker and Mary Saltsman, both of Leitchfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield.
Burial was in the Williams Cemetery in Leitchfield.
Norma Jean Taylor
Norma Jean Taylor, age 65, of Louisville, Ky., died on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Jewish Hospital.
She was the former Norma Davis, a native of Grayson County. She was a member of the Sunny Point Baptist Church, and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Iroquois Post 6182.
She is survived by her husband, Oral "Tubby" Taylor; four sons, David (Pam) Taylor, Morris Taylor, Douglas (Debra) Taylor, and Robert Taylor; four sisters, Rethel Taylor, Eurita Ellis, Jenell Van Meter, and Joyce Meredith; two brothers, Winston Davis and Dwight Davis; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 29, 2004 at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home in Louisville.
Burial was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

Mona Saltsman Russell
1911-2004
Mona Saltsman Russell, age 92, of Bee Spring, Ky., died on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Grayson Manor in Leitchfield.
She was born on October 30, 1911 in Edmonson County. She was self-employed and a homemaker. She was a member of New Salem General Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by three children, James Russell, William Terry Russell, and Vannie Duvall; her parents, William Clifford Saltsman and Tivia Meredith Saltsman; and her husband, Arlie Virgil Russell.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Carroll of Bee Spring; one son, Johnny Russell and wife, Judy of Bee Spring; one sister-in-law, Sue Russell of Bee Spring; three sisters, Lona Vincent of Bee Spring, Mary Foster of Bee Spring, and Dorothy Stevenson of Louisville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Monty and Marvin Duvall, Chad Russell and Megan Saling; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 5, 2004 at New Salem General Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Buttrum.
Burial was in the New Salem Church Cemetery.
Martha Jeane Slaughter Chadwell
1924-2004
Martha Jeane Slaughter Chadwell, age 80, of Louisville, Ky., died on Monday, March 8, 2004 at her residence.
She was the former Martha Lewis, a retired title clerk for Monarch Lincoln-Mercury, and a member of Hikes Point Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Gail Hess and Rhea Elizabeth Slaughter; one son, Richard C. Lewis; and one step-son, Charles E. Slaughter. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Nunnelley Funeral Home in Louisville.
Burial was in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Leitchfield.
