Myrtie Payton Basham, age 95, of Leitchfield, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at her residence of Alzheimers.
She was born on July 30, 1909 in Grayson County as the daughter of Nathaniel and Nancy Jane Young Payton. She was a lifelong resident of Grayson County, and was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelena Pruitt and Carolyn Young; a son-in-law, Bill Young; one grandson, Joel Young and wife Julie of Lexington, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Nickolas and Tiffany Young. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Mary Payton of Henderson, Ky.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Buddy Brooks and Rev. Joseph Henderson officiating.
Burial was in the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary E. Taylor
Mary E. Taylor, age 88, of Big Clifty, Ky., died Friday, August 6, 2004 at her residence in Big Clifty.
She was born January 26, 1916. She was a housewife and a member of Summit Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Minor F. Taylor; her parents, Abe and Jenny Pence; and four brothers, Lawrence, Eugene, Hugh Ed, and Willis Pence.
She is survived by one nephew, Farley Pence and wife Ivene; three nieces, Verlie Mae Walker, Monelle Hart, and Betty Johnson; one great-nephew, Danny Pence and wife Sandy; two great-nieces, Joetta Usher and husband Bill, Glenda Babcock and husband Tim; four great-great-nieces, Kayla Pence, Adrienna Stubblefield, Shelby Babcock, and Whitney Babcock; and one great-great-nephew, Craig Usher.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Summitt Church of Christ with Bro. Sam Dick officiating.
Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Big Clifty.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Sandra Kaye Noblett
Sandra Kaye Noblett, age 34, of Millwood, Ky., died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 in Leitchfield as a result of an automobile accident.
She was born May 13, 1970 in Leitchfield as the daughter of John Robert Noblett and Augusta Brooks Noblett. She was a member of the Pine Knob United Baptist Church.
She is survived by one dauhter, Alexandra Lee Chambers of Millwood; one son, Daniel Dakota Mudd of Millwood; one sister and brother-in-law, Teresa Carter and Greg of Tenn.; her father and stepmother, John Robert and Carolyn Noblett of Leitchfield; her mother, Augusta Noblett of Millwood; her paternal grandparents, Preston and Reba Noblett of Leitchfield; and two nephews, Dustin and Nathan Carter of Tenn.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Edward Dermitt officiating.
Burial was in the Duff Cemetery.
Anita Preston
Anita Preston, age 83, of Leitchfield, died Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield.
She was born February 25, 1921 in Decatur, Illinois as the daughter of William O. and Ollie Likens Preston. She was employed from 1940-1973 at United States Pentagon as an administrative assistant.
She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Frances Morris of Leitchfield; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Preston.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel with Bro. Billy Hack officiating.
William Thomas "Tom" Basham Sr.
William Thomas "Tom" Basham Sr., age 62, of Richmond, Virginia, died Monday, October 18, 2004, after a brief courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Clarkson, Ky. as the son of William Penn Basham and Dorothy Basham. He was a lieutenant with the Richmond Fire Department having worked there for 33 years. He was owner of Basham Bonding, and was active in the State and National Bonding Associations, where he served as several officers, including president of the State Association. He was a Vietnam veteran and active in VFW and the American Legion.
He is survived by his son, William Thomas "Tommy" Basham Jr. of Virginia; his mother, Mrs. William Penn "Dorothy" Basham of Clarkson; a sister, Dorothy "Dot" McCall of Leitchfield; brother, James R. Basham of Franklin, Tennessee and step-s0ns, Doug and Tim Cox.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly "Kay" Basham; his sister, Mary Ellen Basham; and his father, William Penn Basham.
Services were provided by Bliley Funeral Homes - Chippendale Chapel in Richmond, Virginia, on Thursday, October 21, 2004.
Interment with honors was conducted at Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Walter Rob "Petie" Carroll
Walter Rob "Petie" Carroll, age 69, of Big Clifty, Ky., died Friday, November 5, 2004 at the Norton's Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born on September 17, 1935 in Edmonson County, Ky., as the son of Guy and Susie Childress Carroll. He was a farmer, and was a member of the Lone Hill United Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sisters, Alice Bruce of West Point, Ky., Birdie Rigdon of East View, Ky., and Betty Clenney of Louisville; four brothers, Guy and Jerry Carroll of Big Clifty, Ky., Carl of Louisville, and Willie of Rochester, Ill. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Rigdon.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at the Union Light Missionary Baptist Church in Mammoth Cave, Ky. with Bro. Gary Woosley and Bro. Phillip Langdon officiating.
Burial was in the Union Light Cemetery.
Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield was in charge of the arrangements.
