Douglas P. Henry, age 82, of Leitchfield, formerly of Shelbyville, Ky., died Friday, November 5, 2004 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
He was born February 1, 1922 as the son of Hershell and Maggie Jackson Henry in Putnam, Tenn. He was a chef at Wrights Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, and at Cedar Baptist Assembly in Bagdad, Ky. He was also a army veteran of WWII and a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann May Henry ; two brothers, Dolan E. Henry and Joseph H. Henry, Jr.
He is survived by three daughters, Judith DeWeese of Leitchfield, Kathy Henry of Alexandria, Va., and Deborah Henry of Fredericksburg, Va.; one sister, Buena Rolli of Ashflatt, Ark.; one brother, James L. Henry of Hillsboro, Ohio; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Leitchfield United Methodist Church in Leitchfield with Rev. Musial Pearson officiating.
Graveside services were held Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors.
Kim Lulu Mattingly
Kim Lulu Mattingly, age 45, of Leitchfield, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Cancer Center of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born December 13, 1958 in Seoul, Korea, as the daughter of Dave R. Coffey and Iva H. Barratt. She was a bookkeeper at Discount Interiors, and a member of the Beechgrove United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Shauna Mattingly of Leitchfield; her son, Jarrod Mattingly of Leitchfield; her mother, Iva Barratt of Leitchfield; one brother, Chester Coffey of Leitchfield; three nephews, Sam, Aaron, and Chase Coffey, all of Leitchfield; one niece, Ivanna Coffey of Leitchfield; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield.
Burial was in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Billy Ray Powell
Billy Ray Powell, age 55, of Clarkson, Ky., died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the University Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born June 24, 1949. He was the owner and operator of D & L Construction Co., and member and trustee of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by wife, Jeanette Powell of Clarkson; daughter and son-in-law, Nena and Robert Tucker of Clarkson; parents, Iva and Oades Powell of Clarkson; brother, Phillip Powell of Elizabethtown, Ky.; five sisters, Alfreda Elmore and Vicki Starcher, both of Leitchfield, Carol Faye Meredith, Brenda Meredith and Judy Mattingly, all of Clarkson. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Ryan, Eric and Courtney Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Brooks officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Paul A. Heaverin
Paul A. Heaverin, age 93, of Louisville, Ky., died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was a native of Leitchfield.
He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran for 22 years, with service in World War II and the Korean Conflict, and retired from Pinkerron Security Company. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rissie (Miller) Heaverin; a daughter, Sharon Ann Uribe; a daughter-in-law, Bernice Heaverin; a brother, Kenneth Keeton; three sisters, Naomi Jenkins, Dorothy Hindman and Mae McGrew. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Michael, Roderick, Laura, John Thomas and Paul; and three great-grandchildren, John-Walker, Sara and Roderick Lawrence III.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Earl Heaverin.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at St. Clement Catholic Church.
Burial was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens-West.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Basia Renee Fletcher
Basia Renee Fletcher, age 2, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 in Houlka, Mississippi.
She was born October 21, 2001 in Leitchfield, Kentucky to Brandy Barley and James Douglas Fletcher, Jr.
She is survived by her parents; Brandy Lynn Barley and James Douglas Fletcher, Jr. of Leitchfield; four sisters, Kiana Fletcher and Domeeka Goldsberry of Leitchfield, and Gabrielle Barley and Jericah Fletcher of Lafayette, Ind.; one brother, Schuyler Fletcher of Leitchfield; Maternal grandmother, Debbie Birge of Lafayette; maternal grandfather, Tom Barley of Lafayette; paternal grandmother, Anna Mitchell of Indianapolis, Ind.; paternal grandfather, James Fletcher Sr. of Indianapolis; maternal great-grandmother, JoAn Hicks of Lafayette; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Christ Temple Church in Leitchfield. A farewell service was held Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the home of Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors.
Burial was in the Springvale Cemetery in Lafayette, Indiana.
Margie Ellen Grant
Margie Ellen Grant, age 60, of Clarkson, Ky., died Monday, September 13, 2004 at her residence.
She was born April 14, 1944 in Jefferson County, Ky., as the daughter of Harlem and Marie Katherine Woods.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Grant.
She is survived by one daughter, Billie Sue Meredith of Clarkson; one son, Rickie Woods of Leitchfield; two step-daughters, Donna Decker and Julie Lashley, both of Clarkson; and three grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date.
