Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 4, 1 p.m. at the Tom’s Creek Free Will Baptist Church for Rebekah Lynn Nickell, 47, of Flat Gap, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2.
Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Shyrlene Fairchild
1962 – 2017
Shyrlene Fairchild, age 55, of Staffordsville passed away Sunday July 30 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville. Born July 14, 1962 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Sammie Wells and Willa Dean Honeycutt Wells. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Samantha Jo Fairchild, and one brother, Rocky Wells.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Fairchild; four sons: Justin Fairchild and Tamara Cole, Christopher Fairchild, Nathan Fairchild and Shawn Fairchild, all of Staffordsville; one daughter: Christy Lynn Cochran of Ohio; three brothers: Virgil Wells of Paintsville, Bradley Wells of Van Lear and Troy Wells of Paintsville; five sisters: Cammy Holbrook of Paintsville, Dedra Johnson of Prestonsburg, Chris Ann Nelson of Prestonsburg, Kimberly Hall of Knott County and Stacy Wells of Paintsville; and two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 3 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Dixon cemetery at Staffordsville. Kenny Pelphrey will officiate. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until the time of service on Thursday.

Caleb Skeens
1996-2017
Caleb Skeens, 20, of Pikeville, died Monday, July 31, 2017, in Floyd County.
He was born in Pikeville, Dec. 7, 1996, the son of Rebecca Bostic Scott of Rush and Stanley Skeens of Pikeville and the stepson of Linda Fay Thompson Skeens of Pikeville.
He was a logger, a member of the Feds Creek Baptist Church and a member of the KY Master Logger.
In addition to his parents and stepmother, he is survived by four sisters, Jessica Skeens Charles and Jessica Thompson, both of Pikeville, Natasha Skeens of Somerset and Denicka Skeens of Paintsville; three brothers, Jacob Skeens, Jeremiah Skeens and Jason Skeens, all of Pikeville; and a half-brother, Isaac Scott of Altoona, Penn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, with Steve Byers officiating. Burial will follow in the Peggy Miller Cemetery, Feds Creek.
Visitation will be held all day Thursday, at the funeral home, with services at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc. of Elkhorn City.

William “Buzz” Preston Pauley
1951 – 2017
William “Buzz” Preston Pauley, 66, of Pilgrim, passed away with friends and family by his side of July 28, 2017. He left this earth the same way he lived, with great perseverance and his usual humble grace. William was the son of Gertrude Harrison of Colorado and the late Clearance Pauley of West Virginia.
William made a wonderful decision in 1972 and married
the love of his life Joyce. William is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Bridgette Younce, brother Dale Wilson and father Clarence Pauley.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Pauley, daughter Tonya and husband Chris Zack of Richmond, granddaughters Haley Younce and Lakin Younce of Salyersville, great granddaughters Madelynn and Macie McKenzie of Salyersville, sisters Lana and husband Bob Dimmit, Nina Morgan, and Regina Pauley, brothers Deniel Wilson, Tommy Pauley, Ronnie Pauley, Shonny Pauley, Mitchel Pauley and Lonnie Pauley along with countless family and friends.
William worked many years in the mines, which he loved. He also loved racing cars of all forms but especially stock car racing and was fondly known as #21. His favorite moments were when his daughters held the chered flag for the winners lap. He always had a passion for being outdoors and the hills of eastern Kentucky. He arrived in these hills years ago and they became his home. In the words of James Still, “I shall not leave these prisoning hills… I cannot leave. I cannot go away. Being of these hills I cannot pass beyond.” He will always remain a part of these hills.

Martha C. “Marty” Weitzel
1937 – 2017
Martha C. “Marty” Weitzel, 80, of rural Roanoke, Ind., died at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at her home. She was born March 24, 1937 in Van Lear to Oliver and Angie (Webb) Lynn.
Marty married
Byron Keith Weitzel at the Dora Christian Church on November 2, 1980; he died January 29, 2003. She retired from GE in Fort Wayne. Marty enjoyed gardening, painting figurines, coloring, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children, Angi (Chuck) Didion of Fort Wayne, Ind., Jack (Kristian Smith) Fisher of Warsaw, Ind., Jerry (Janis) Fisher and Patrick Fisher, both of Fort Wayne, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons; sisters and brothers, Lois Blair of Paintsville, Charles (Barb) Lynn of Rome City, Ind., Jack (Pat) Lynn and Betty (Harold) Chapman, both of Wabash. Ind. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Michael Fisher; brothers and sisters, Joann McGuiness, John Lynn, Jimmy Lynn, Mooney Lynn, and Mary Sue O’Neal, and grandson Alex Epps.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Randell Webb officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester, Ind. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 3 at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Roy Music Jr., 93, of Paintsville, who passed away Monday, July 31 at the East Kentucky Veteran’s Center of Hazard.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 30 at the Pigeon Enterprise Baptist Church in Oil Springs for Tina Marie Castle, 49, of Lowmansville, who passed away July 27 in hospice care in Ashland.
Burial followed at Greenlawn cemetery in Louisa.
