Burial will follow in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Rita Tackett Compton
1947-2016
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 25, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Rita Tackett Compton, 69, of Ypsilanti Township, Mich., who passed away Tuesday, April 19 at Angela Hospice in Livonia, Mich.
Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

James Wilson Cantrell
1941-2016
James Wilson Cantrell, age 74, of Flat Gap, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 11, 2016 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born May 22, 1941 in Magoffin County, to the late Marion Cecil “Seadobber” and Clara Jane Castle Cantrell. James worked for many years as a carpenter and miner before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Open Fork United Baptist Church in Morgan County.
Preceding him in death are his parents; one brother, Arnold Morris Cantrell; one infant sister, Martha Ann Cantrell; and one son-in-law, Brian Crawford.
On January 11, 1962, he married
Katherine Lemaster. Together they shared 54 years and had six children; Greg (Tammy) Cantrell of Hager Hill, Terry (Gary) Hill of Flat Gap, Kenny (Tina) Cantrell of Flat Gap; Benny (Patsy) Cantrell of Flat Gap, and Joyce Crawford and Martha (Robert) Wright, both of Knoxville, Tenn.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 19, 11 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Castle, Lonnie Wright, and Roger Jordan officiating. Burial followed in the Cantrell Family cemetery at Flat Gap.

Sandra Lee Conley
1947-2016
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church for Sandra Lee Conley, 69, of Alexandria, Va., who passed away Wednesday, April 13 at her residence.
Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Delores Sword Woody
1933-2016
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 16, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Delores Sword Woody, 82, of Tutor Key, who passed away Wednesday, April 13 at her residence.
Mrs. Woody was born Aug. 23, 1933 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Jim Bob Sword and Nola Blevins Sword. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Woody (Sept. 23, 2015); two brothers, Jim and Charles Sword; and one sister, Sylvia Six.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Keith Woody and (wife Katie) of Tutor Key; two sisters, Daphyne McNamee and (husband Ronnie) of Grove City, Ohio; Elsie Glandon and (husband Doc) of Chillicothe, Ohio; one grandson, Chad Woody and (wife Felicia); two great-grandsons, Logan and Dalton Woody; two sisters-in-law, Sue Sword and Midge Sword; two brothers-in-law, Darryl Woody and Charlie Six. A host of nieces and nephews also survive along with a special friend and caretaker Garnet Armstrong.
Delores was a member of the Wheelwright Free Will Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from the Floyd County School System where she taught for 32 years.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the Chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Harry Neal Frisby and Louie Ferrari will officiate.
Friends may visit the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. on Friday.

Burial was in the Richmond cemetery in Prestonsburg.

Willie Thomas Crabtree

Burial was in the Crabtree Family cemetery at River.

Windell ‘Nig’ Blanton
1923-2016
Funeral services were Friday, April 15, 11 a.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church on Third Street, Paintsville, for Windell “Nig” Blanton, 92, of Paintsville, who passed away Monday, April 11 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Blanton was born Oct. 27, 1923 in Lawrence County, son of the late Dock and Verna Crace Blanton. He was a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby Blanton; one daughter, Sandra Abrams; two brothers, Jim Crace and Hershell Blanton; one sister, Juanita Horn; and one grandchild, Scotty Abrams.
Surviving are his wife, Blanche Holbrook Blanton; three sons, John Michael (Teresa) Blanton of Grove City, Ohio, Terry Windell Blanton of Paintsville, and Brian David (Amy) Blanton of Dayton, Ohio; four daughters, Debbie Blanton of Paintsville, Judy (Jimmy) Frazier of Staffordsville, Barb VanHoose of Paintsville, and Nikki (Jessie) McCarty of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; one son-in-law, Sam Abrams; one brother, Robert Blanton of Paintsville; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Mike Blanton, with burial in the Staffordsville Church Cemetery.
