Everly M. Wheeler
1933-2016
Everly M. Wheeler, of Staffordsville, shared his life with us for 83 years and 20 days. He went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Everly was born on April 8, 1933 at his beloved Crockett in Morgan County. He is the son of the late Frank and Linnie Fannin Wheeler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arlis, Darrell and Rodney; and three sisters, Arlene Williams, Mavis Hall and Lois Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lillian Arnett Wheeler of Staffordsville. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends; and two special caregivers, Geraldine Owens and Debbie Preston.
For the past four months, Everly enjoyed time shared at Mountain Nursing Home with the roommate Eldon McKenzie.
After high school, Everly served two years in the U.S. Army. He then enrolled at Morehead State University obtaining a B. S. Degree in business education. His long teaching career began in Johnson County at Oil Springs High School before retirement from Johnson Central.
While at M. S. U., Everly met and married
his future wife, Lillian Arnett. They were married
on June 8, 1958.
Everly had a kind, gentle and helpful nature. He loved his family without reservation and was always proud of their accomplishment.
After retirement, Everly enjoyed meeting friends at the Senior Citizens Center, sharing a good meal and enjoying games of choice. He also never gave up on the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon fishing on the lake.
Everly has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled. He will be missed by all who knew him. His life had been a great journey, beginning with his parents, his career, and his loving wife Lillian.
He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his community, but Everly will never be forgotten.
