Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 12, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Vivian Lois O達ryan Blanton, 86, of Somerset, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9 at her residence.
Mrs. Blanton was born July 14, 1929 in Floyd County, daughter of the late William Garfield O達ryan and Mary Esta Woods O達ryan. She was a collection agent for General Electric. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are her husband, James Morrison Blanton of Somerset; two sons, James Morrison Blanton Jr. of North Carolina and Howard Paul Blanton of Frankfort; two step-daughters, Brenda Jarrell of Williamsport, and Elizabeth Lynn Blanton of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Robert O達ryan of Huntington, W. Va., and Billy J. O達ryan of Paris; two sisters, Janice Lee (David) Mayhew of Paintsville, and Betty (Brooksie) Salyers of Columbus, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The service was officiated by Tobe Wheeler, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Wanda Lou VanHoose Wells
1938-2016
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 11, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Wanda Lou VanHoose Wells, 77, of Van Lear, who passed away Monday, Feb. 8 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Wells was born Sept. 22, 1938 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Bernard VanHoose and Darcus Melvina Wheeler VanHoose. She was a retail store manager. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wells.
Surviving are two daughters, Monie Rose (Richard) Mullins of Paintsville, and Verronda Castle of Van Lear; one brother, Harold Dean (Paula) VanHoose of Piketon, Ohio; two sisters, Pina VanHoose Kilgore and Monnie VanHoose Kestner, both of Paintsville; two grandchildren, Casey Jonathan Lenord and Jeffery Jaimes Simmons; and five great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Roger Hill, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Shaina Leigh Whitt
1997-2016
Shaina Leigh Whitt, age 18, died March 4, in Lexington. She was born June 5, 1997 in Lexington to Tina (Thacker) and James Shane Whitt of Lexington. Besides her parents, Shaina is survived by a younger sister Emma Grace Whitt; grandparents Ertel (Gloria) Whitt and James (Alice) Thacker and many aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends.
Shaina was an active member at Providence Christian Church. She was on the soccer team at Lafayette High School prior to her graduation. Shaina lived life to the limits, enjoying every minute of it. She was a hard working person, who liked to spend off hours shopping with family and friends. She was an independent young woman who loved music.
For Shaina, life went by in a heartbeat.
A visitation and service was held Monday, March 7 at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home in Pikeville followed by a private entombment at the Annie E. Young cemetery Mausoleum.
