Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 23, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Larry Gene VanHoose, 68, of Hager Hill, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19 at his residence.
Mr. VanHoose was born Oct. 21, 1947 in Johnson County, son of the late Proctor VanHoose and Hazel VanHoose. He was employed with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Dept. as a Court Officer. He was also a member of Shriner’s; Masonic Lodge; Paintsville Police officer; and Paintsville Police Chief.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Martin VanHoose and Phillip Roger VanHoose.
Surviving are his wife, Patty Conley VanHoose of Hager Hill; one brother, James O. (Ernestine) VanHoose of Flat Gap; one sister, Janie Harlow of Paintsville; 10 nieces, four nephews, five great-nieces, and four great-nephews; and his very special dog friend, Hansel.
Paintsville Masonic Lodge #381 conducted Masonic services Friday, Jan. 22, 7 p.m.
The service was officiated by John Hatton and Father Hoppenjans, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Mary Williams
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 29, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Mary Williams, 97, of Lexington, formerly of Flat Gap, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, at Sayre Christian Village.
Burial will be in the Williams Family cemetery at Volga.

Johnny Gamble
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 29, 11 a.m. at the Red Bush Enterprise Baptist Church for Johnny Gamble, 75, of Flat Gap, who passed away Monday, Jan. 25.
Burial will be in the Skaggs Town cemetery at Flat Gap.

Emma Jean Blair Adams
1944-2016
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 18, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Emma Jean Blair Adams, 71, of West Van Lear, who passed away Friday, Jan. 15 at Salyersville Health Care Center.
Mrs. Adams was born June 4, 1944 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Virgil and Retta Mae Music Blair. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Adams Sr; one son, Billy Ray Adams Jr; and three grandchildren, Brady Adams, Dalton Adams, and Adam Williams.
Surviving are one daughter, Tina (Don) Williams of Meally; two brothers, Roger Blair of Lexington, and Kenneth Blair of West Van Lear; two grandchildren, Daniel Ryan Williams and Brenna Adams; and daughter-in-law, Patti Adams of Barbourville.
The service was officiated by Isaac Rowland and Gary Blair, with burial in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Mildred Louise Scott Pack
1920 - 2016
Mildred Louise Scott Pack, age 95, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away at her home January 17, 2016.
She was born October 15, 1920, in Louisa, daughter of the late William Tazewell and Emma Parmelia Smith Scott. Her husband, Arnold J Pack, preceded her in death on December 14, 1995.
Mrs. Pack is survived by two sons, Keith Pack (Lynne) of Clearfield and Ted Pack (Pat) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; four daughters, Charlotte Balzer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Linda Clemmons (Jim Tom) of Shelbyville, Debra Seider (Rick) of Frankfort, and Lori Dyer (C. D.) of Jeffersonville; her sister, Billie Jean King of Paintsville; eleven grandchildren, Cassie Belmonte, Todd Balzer, Sherri Balzer, Kim Ravenscraft, Krista Barton, Matthew Pack, Scott Pack, Michael Todd Lambert, James Pack, Bartley Taylor, and Jordan Doyle; and fifteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loyal caregivers, Geraldine McKinniss, Susie Collins, Linda Hardin, and Cathy Christy.
Mrs. Pack was the co-owner of Packs’ Inc. and Morehead TV Cable. She was a graduate of the Meade Memorial High School in Johnson County, and Booth Business School in Paintsville. She was a member of Tom’s Creek United Baptist Church in Tutor Key.
Visitation is 5 pm.-9 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Willie Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and her caregivers.

Services will be held at a later date for Marlene Soward, 61, of New Virginia, Iowa, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 7 at Bright Cavanagh Hospice House in Des Moine, Iowa.

Michael Roy Colvin
1959-2016
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 22, 1 p.m. at the Mayo Memorial United Methodist Church in Paintsville, for Michael Roy Colvin, who passed away Monday, Jan. 18 at his residence.
Mr. Colvin was born Aug. 2, 1959 in Johnson County, son of the late James Franklin Colvin and Allene Blair Colvin. He was a support specialist for the Cabinet for Families and Children.
Surviving are his wife, Kelly Schmitt Colvin of Paintsville; two daughters, Olivia Katheryn Colvin and Sarah Elizabeth Colvin, both of Paintsville; one brother, Mark (Anita) Colvin of Paintsville; one nephew, Clay Colvin of Paintsville.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 22, 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
The service will be officiated by John Hatton and Mike Schmitt, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.
