Clifford Butcher
1937-2015
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 29, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Clifford Butcher, 78, of Corbin, formerly of Williamsport, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Riverview Health Care Facility in Prestonsburg.
Mr. Butcher was born May 22, 1937 in Johnson County, son of the late Angus and Mildred Daniel Butcher. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Granville “Bo” Butcher, Maurice “Booteye” Butcher, Angus Butcher Jr., and Joe M. Butcher; and one sister, Bonnie Fraley.
Surviving are two sons, Barry Butcher of East Point, and James Butcher of Corbin; two daughter, Lisa Fugett of Ceredo, W. Va., and Tammy Blanton of Morehead; one brother, Don Butcher of Scottown, Ohio; five grandchildren four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The service was officiated by Joe Scott, with burial in the Gethsemane Gardens at Prestonsburg.

Floyd Eugene VanHoose
1950-2015
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 23, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Floyd Eugene VanHoose, 65, of Nippa, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 20 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. VanHoose was born May 2, 1950 in Johnson County, son of the late Lifes and Bonita Stambaugh VanHoose. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Hall, and a granddaughter, Isabella Jean Sturgill.
He was retired from Martin County Coal after 23 years, a mine inspector with MSHA, a United States Air Force veteran, and a Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Roberts VanHoose of Nippa; two daughters, Heather Fyffe of Flat Gap, and Ashley VanHoose of Nippa; two brothers, James VanHoose and Danny VanHoose, both of Nippa; one sister, Carolyn VanHoose of Lexington; one grandchild, Seth Fyffe, his pride and joy; and many special friends.
The service was officiated by James Kelly Caudill and Steve Rose, with burial in the W. R. Castle Memorial cemetery at Nippa, with military services conducted.

Marion F. ‘Bud’ Ward

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Marion F. “Bud” Ward, 74, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 22 at Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Ward was born Sept. 29, 1940 in Johnson County, son of the late Marion and Bessie Adams Ward. He was a heavy equipment operator.
Surviving are two sons, Darrell Ward of Nashville, Tenn., and James Ward of Bowling Green; one daughter, Ada Darlene Ward Woods of Bowling Green; one sister, Darlene Ward Wills of Gold Canyon, Az.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The service was officiated by Larry Blair, with burial in the Ward Family cemetery at Van Lear.
