Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 2, 1 p.m. at the Sitka Free Will Baptist Church for Lee Roy Salyers, 68, of Paintsville, who passed away Friday, Jan. 30 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville.
Mr. Salyers was born Aug. 6, 1946 in Johnson County, son of the late Iva Jean Arms Castle. He was a U.S. Army veteran; and a construction worker.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, William Castle.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Louise Castle Salyers; two daughters, Melissa (Christopher) Martin of Paintsville and Jeanetta (Arlen Paul) Carty of Salyersville; four brothers, Ralph Castle and Ronald David Castle, both of Thealka, Glenn Castle of Martin County, and Randy Allen Castle of Georgetown; four sisters, Kathleen Wheeler and Trisha Ann Reeves, both of Flemingsburg, Wanda Louisa Tackett of Lexington, and Edith Hill of Meally; and four grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Jim McKenzie, Stan Burchett, Hobert Meek and Gilbert Music, with burial in the Salyers Family cemetery at Thealka.

Billy Eugene Lemaster Sr.
1959-2015
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 2, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Billy Eugene Lemaster Sr., 55, of Thealka, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 29 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Lemaster was born Sept. 13, 1959 in Lansing, Mich., son of the late James Albert Lemaster and Marie Nelson Lemaster Ross. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a truck driver.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Annette Brown Lemaster of Thealka; two sons, Richard William Brown of Paintsville, and Billy Eugene Lemaster Jr of Philippi, W.Va.; two daughters, Jeanna Marie Baldridge and Melinda Nicole Fryman, both of Paintsville; three brothers, James Lemaster of Manistique, Mich., Roy Lemaster of Las Vegas, Nev., and David Lemaster of Paintsville; two sisters, Carol Miller of Taylor, Mich., and Belinda Potter of Tampa, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Wayne Fields, Hedgel Golden, with burial in the Brown cemetery at Ivel.

Emma Collins Hughes Harris
1943-2015
Gravesite services were held Thursday, Jan. 22, 2 p.m. at the Collins Family cemetery at Riceville, for Emma Collins Hughes Harris, 72, of Wittensville, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing Home at Virgie.
Mrs. Harris was born Jan. 18, 1943 in Paintsville, daughter of the late John and Nola Spradlin Collins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hughes.
Surviving are one son, John David Hughes of Pikeville; two brothers, Hubert Collins of Wittensville and James Collins of Circleville, Ohio; one sister, Carol Magnifico of New Jersey; and two grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Elder Kenny Pelphrey.

Jackie L. Blanton
1947-2015
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 25, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Jackie L. Blanton, 67, of Paintsville, who passed away Friday, Jan. 23 at his residence.
Mr. Blanton was born May 10, 1947 in Johnson County, son of the late Arnold and Eunice Horn Blanton. He was a millwright with Caterpillar Tractor Company.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry Lemaster Blanton of Paintsville; four daughters, Michelle (Bob) Jakupcak, Angela (Jeff) Kusnerick, both of Streeter, Ill., Brandy (Art) Lain of Salyersville, and Cristal (Charles) Elrod of Paintsville; and three grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Tim Tackett.

Marietta Fern Bowling
1949-2015
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 28, for Marietta Fern Bowling, 65, of Van Lear, who passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Born May 18, 1949, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Darlene Howard.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Rocky Wells.
She is survived by her husband, Gary “Pete” Bowling; two sons, Terry Neal (Darlene) Bowling, of Van Lear, and Jimmy Bowling, also of Van Lear; one brother, Clifford Booth, of Continental, Ohio; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., in the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Roger Hill will officiate.
Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, at Staffordsville.

Teresa Marie Belcher
1962-2015
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, for Teresa Marie Belcher, 52, who passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015, in Richmond.
Born October 17, 1962, in Paintsville, she was the daughter of Dovie Jean (Gullett) Belcher and the late Roger Neal Belcher. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Shannon Marie Hampton, of Richmond; a brother, Roger “Bo” Belcher, of Paintsville; two sisters, Dena Durham, of Richmond, and Rhonda Applegate, of Hager Hill; and, two grandchildren.
Services were conducted at the House of Refuge Church, with Doris Blevins officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, at Staffordsville.

Curtis ‘Bub’ Spence

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Curtis “Bub” Spence, 87, of Flat Gap, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Spence was born Sept. 28, 1927 in Martin County, son of the late Willie and Daisy Bowen Spence. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Earnestine Wells Spence; two infant daughters, Brenda and Linda Spence; two brothers, George and Howard Spence; two sisters, Ruby Mollett and Dorothy Setser.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Spence; six sons, Vonlee (Linda) Wells of Pikeville, Dallas (Judy) Spence of Inez, Danny (Kim) Spence of Ulysses, Bobby (Donna) Spence of Hager Hill, Curtis Jr. (Debbie) Spence of Meally, and Gary (Michelle) Spence of Flat Gap; three daughters, Carol (Jr.) Booth of Inez, Diane Spence Whitt of Lexington, and Nola (Todd) Erickson of Willmer, Minn.; one brother, Luther (Maudie) Spence of Tomahawk; one sister, Trixie Meek of Williamsport; 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Frank Mills, with burial to follow in the family cemetery at Flat Gap.

Garnett Lee Blair Hensley

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1 p.m. at the Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, for Garnett Lee Blair Hensley, 69, of Paintsville, formerly of Ashland, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 8 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Mrs. Hensley was born Dec. 12, 1945 in Johnson County, daughter of Martin Eldon and Florence Ellen Trimble Blair. She was also preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Hensley; one brother, Charles Martin Blair; and two sisters, Betty Conley and Barbara Bowers.
Surviving are one son, LeRoy Hensley Jr.; three sisters, Agnes Ann Sapp, Goldie G. Hunter and Mabel Elden Ratliff; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Ashland Cemetery.
