Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 6, 11:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Baptist Church for Roxie Bowling, 58, of Pikeville, who passed away Thursday, Jan 1 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Mrs. Bowling was born April 5, 1956 in Pikeville, daughter of the late Robert Drexel and Jettie Roe Bowling. She was owner of East Ky. Exterminating & Lawn Care.
Surviving are two sons, Rodney Stevens of Seymour, Tenn., and Braxton Wayne Bowling of Pikeville; three daughters, Lisa Stevens, Shayla Stevens, and Jenna Stevens, all of Pikeville; two brothers, Ernie Bowling of Monroe, Mich., Benjamin Bowling of Knights, Ind.; three sisters, Anna Jean Burke-Triplett of Somerset, Darcus Faine of Frankfort, and Hester B. Johnson of Weeksbury; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and special friend, Linda Stevens.
The service was officiated by Michael Sanders, with burial in the Gethsemane Gardens in Prestonsburg.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Susan M. Webb
1962-2015
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2 p.m. at the Hager Hill Free Will Baptist Church, for Susan M. Webb, 52, of Lexington, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 11 at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington.
Ms. Webb was born Dec. 3, 1962 in Louisa, daughter of Margaret Boyd Webb and the late Lowell Webb. She was a realtor with Berkshire-Hathway Realty.
The service will be officiated by Ronnie Spriggs, with burial to follow in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Bert D. Blair
1930-2015
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1 p.m. at the Herald and Stewart and Halsey Chapel for Bert D. Blair, 84, of West Liberty, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 4 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington W. Va.
Mr. Blair was born Sept. 11, 1930 in West Van Lear, son of the late Herschel and Ada Griffith Blair. He was a retired freight truck driver, a member of the Kenova Lodge #119, Kenova W. Va., and the A&A; Scottish Rite of Free Masonry.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Ray Blair; one sister, Rebecca Lynn Blair Click; and one granddaughter.
Survivng are his wife Jean Pratt Blair of West Liberty; one daughter, Linda (Dewayne Cole) Myles of Kenova, W.Va.; one son Rick (Sherry) Blair of White Oak; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were officiated by Bro. Chuck Evans with interment following in Allen cemetery at Harper.
Arrangements under the direction of Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty.

Nora Louella Amburgy
1931-2015
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 12, 12 p.m. at the Phelps and Son Funeral Home Chapel for Nora Louella Amburgy, 83, of Van Lear, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Mountain Manor in Paintsville.
Mrs. Amburgy was born November 12, 1931 in Johnson County, daughter of the late George Charles and Blanche Stafford Charles. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Amburgy; one brother, Ray Owens; three sisters, Wanda Rowland, Billie Jean Charles, and Georgie Burns.
She is survived by three daughters; Darlene Duff of Warsaw, Ind., Ruby Prater, of Prestonsburg, and Freda Lewis, of Van Lear; two sisters, Gay Damron of Columbia City, Ind., and Susie Charles of Harold; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Burial to follow service in Gethsemane Gardens at Prestonsburg. Friends may visit the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Charles ‘Bill’ Williams
1934-2015
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 5, 11 a.m. at the First Church of God at Little Paint, for Charles “Bill” Williams, 80, of East Point, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr Williams was born Oct. 9, 1934 in Johnson County, son of the late Jessie and Zora Williams. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Williams; one daughter, Kimberly Williams; and one sister, Deloris Davis. He had been employed by the Broughton Milk Company, and he was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Lorna (Cline) Williams of East Point; one son, Michael (Sherri) Williams of Cynthiana; two step-sons, Paul Fields of Georgetown, and Kevin Fields of Walton; two sisters, Leora Dutton and Kate Melvin, both of Paintsville; two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild.
The service was officiated by Pastor Jeff White, with burial in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Marlene Meek Damron
1964-2015
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 4, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Marlene Meek Damron, 50, of Belcher, who passed away Friday, Jan. 2 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Pikeville.
Mrs. Damron was born Feb. 21, 1964 in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Henderson and Katherine Meek. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Teddy Meek.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Lowe of Dorton, and Julie Doyle of Pikeville; two sisters, Linda Adams of Ashland, and Kathy Meek of Lexington; and two grandchildren.
The service was officiated by James Damron, with burial in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Anna Josephine VanHoose Howe
Anna Josephine VanHoose Howe died peacefully at home on December 12, 2014. She is now with her Lord and was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Noah VanHoose and Goldie Blair, brothers, sister, husband, a daughter, friends, and family who had gone before her.
Jo Howe will be missed by those who, for now, remain behind including her nieces and nephews, many friends, her youngest daughter, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
At her direction the natural burial was for immediate family only.
She was born in Paintsville, and a graduate of the Louisville School of Nursing in Louisville. She easily made friends wherever her travels took her and had been a member of the leadership team of Bible Study Fellowship in Menlo Park Calif. Mrs. Howe remained active in church activities, most recently in Inman, S.C.

Lavonne Davis
1958-2014
Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2 p.m. at the Sitka Free Will Baptist Church for Lavonne Davis, 56, of Sitka, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 28 at his residence.
Mr. Davis was born Nov. 10, 1958 in Johnson County, son of Willie J. Davis of Baltimore, Md., and the late Marcella Salyer Davis. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Tiffany and Alicia Davis; two brothers, Thomas Ramey and Don Smith; and one sister, Janice Davis Skylar.
Surviving are four brothers, Anthony Davis of Sitka, Phillip Davis of Baltimore, Willie J. Davis Jr. of Franklin, Ga., and Marcellus Smith; three sisters, Sandra K. Davis of Baltimore, Donna Jean Smith and Paulette Smith; and three grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Jimmy McKenzie.
