Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 11 a.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Dorothy Justice Whitt, 84, of Salyersville, who passed away Tuesday, July 15.
Mrs. Whitt was born April 11, 1930 in Warfield, daughter of the late Leo Frank and Mary Elizabeth Crum Justice. She was a member of the Paintsville Nazarene Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy Whitt.
Surviving are two sons, Troy Whitt Jr. of Davisport, and Larry Whitt of Inez; three daughters, Sadie Vinson of Salyersville, Delilah Muncy of Milo, and LeaAnn Lanmen of Corbin; one brother, Clarence Justice of Somerset, Ohio; one sister, Lucille Grizzell of Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Roy Penix, with burial to follow in the Whitt Family cemetery at Red Bush.

Susan Hewlett
1962+2014
Memorial services will be held at a later date for Susan Hewlett, 52, of Eugene, Ore., who passed away Saturday, July 12.
Ms. Hewlett was born April 3, 1962 in Paintsville, daughter of Mary Evelyn Cruthers Hewlett and the late Joe Hewlett.
Surviving in addition to her mother are, one son, Joseph Monroe of Eugene; two brothers, Tom Hewlett of Van Lear, and Steve Hewlett of Lancaster; two sisters, Monica Worthy of Louisville, and Jo Evelyn Newman of Paintsville; three grandchildren; and partner, Deborah Helm.

Charles ‘Ed’ Blackburn
1954-2014
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Charles “Ed” Blackburn, 60, of East Point, who passed away Tuesday, July 8 at Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr. Blackburn was born Feb. 22, 1954 in Floyd County, son of Estalene Hatfield Blackburn and the late Tom Blackburn. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Michael Keith Blackburn.
Surviving in addition to his mother are, two brothers, Larry Blackburn of East Point, and Lloyd Hayden of Van Lear; three sisters, Glenna Baldridge of Warsaw, Ind., Vickie Callahan of Van Lear, and Alice Puckett of Meally.
The service will be officiated by Paul Wayne Browning, with burial in the Blackburn Family cemetery at East Point.

Wendell Lee Nickell
1921-2014
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Wendell Lee Nickell, 93, of Flat Gap, who passed away Saturday, July 5 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice of Huntington, W. Va.
Mr. Nickell was born March 21, 1921 in Johnson County, son of the late Albert and Alma Ross Nickell. He was a U. S. WW II Army medic on Goodenough Island; a farmer, a master concervation, and graduate of Flat Gap High School. He was also preceded in death by six siblings.
Surviving are two nieces, Carolyn Robinson of San Francisco, Cal., and Marilyn Klepper of Seattle, Wash.
Visitation will be Friday, 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The service will be officiated by by Tim Salyer, with burial to follow in the Marvin Sparks cemetery at Blaine.

David Jude
1937-2014
A celebration of life services were held Saturday, July 5, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for David Jude, 77, of Oil Springs, who passed away Wednesday, July 2 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Jude was born March 29, 1937 in Martin County, son of the late Jack and Pearl Blackburn Jude.
Surviving are two daughters. Sandy Smith of Columbus, Ohio, and Sherri Smith of Cardington, Ohio; six brothers, Rush Jude, Henderson Jude, Will Jude, T. D. Jude, Jobe Jude and Hershell Jude; three sisters, Thelma Parson, Judy Jude, and Elva Jude; and six grandchildren.

Floriene Davis
1924-2014
Funeral services were held Sat., July 5, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Floriene Davis, 89, of Sitka, who passed away Thursday, July 3 at Mountain Manor of Paintsville.
Mrs. Davis was born Aug. 3, 1924 at East Point, daughter of the late Mason and Gypsy Fairchild Conley. She was a member of the Church of Christ; and she was a self-employed store owner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Garfield Davis.
Surviving is one daughter, Linda Lee Castle.
The service was officiated by Rodney Salyer, with burial in the David Family cemetery at Sitka.

Eulah Blair

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6, 3 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Eulah Blair, 97, of East Point, who passed away Thursday, July 3 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home of Paintsville.
Mrs. Blair was born Oct. 22, 1916 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Ross Hannah and Virgie Rivers Hannah. She was a member of the Whitaker Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Roger Dean Blair of Hager Hill; two daughters, Thelma (Thomas) Murray of East Point, and Jearlean Donley of Paintsville; one sister, Eunice Snips of Troy, Ohio; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Hubert Slone, Richard Williams and Ronnie Spriggs, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

James Larry Cantrell

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for James Larry Cantrell, 65, of West Van Lear, who passed away Thursday, July 3 at his residence.
Mr. Cantrell was born Aug. 14, 1948 in Johnson County, son of the late Walter and Cova Jones Cantrell. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Cantrell Jr., and Amos Elmo Cantrell; and one sister, Mary Lou Cantrell.
Surviving are one son, James Walter Cantrell of Van Lear; one daughter, Lisa Pruitt of Corbin; four sisters, Jewel Lee of Dayton, Ohio, Fran Collinsworth of Enon, Ohio, Betty Letuli of West Chester, Ohio, and Freida Bolin of Lakeview, Ohio; one grandchild, and one step-grandchild.
The service was officiated by Toby Wheeler, with burial in the Cantrell Family cemetery at West Van Lear.
