Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Linda Mae Mullins, 65, of Van Lear, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 31.
Mrs. Mullins was born June 20, 1948 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Elmer Guy Harris Jr. and Kathleen Wade. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Douglas Harris; and one sister, Dianna Wells.
Surviving are her husband, “J” James Thurman Mullins of Van Lear; one son, James Thurman Jr. of Van Lear; one daughter, Michelle Reneé Mullins (Tracy) Jude of Blaine; one brother, David Harris of Alaska; three sisters, Mary Banks of Van Lear, Patricia Lafferty of Meally, and Sandra Winn of Utah; and three grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Larry Blair, with burial in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Barbara Meadows
1938-2013
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 1 at Toms Creek Free Will Baptist Church for Barbara Meadows, 75, of Wittensville, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28 at her residence.
Ms. Meadows was born Feb. 21, 1938 at Wittensville, daughter of the late Clarence and Katherine Christian Meadows.
Surviving are two brothers, Clarence Allen Meadows and Edward Milton Meadows, both of Wittensville; four sisters, Anita Gullett of Thelma, Mary Ruth Meadows of Wittensville, Virginia Tackett of Staffordsville, and Roberta Long of Springfield, Ohio.
The service was officiated by the Revs. James Kelly Caudill and Brad Meadows, with burial in the Meadows cemetery at Wittensville.

Beatrice Carol Moore
1935-2013
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 29, 11 a.m., at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Beatrice Carol Moore, 78, of Flat Gap, who passed away Monday, Aug. 26 at her residence.
Mrs. Moore was born Feb. 10, 1935 at Blaine, daughter of the late Ova and Angie Green Boggs. She was a retired ward secretary for Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Surviving are two daughters, Corrine Rae (Jeff) Fyffe of Flat Gap, and Cynthia Renee Smith of Hazard; three brothers, Beecher “Bud” Boggs, David Boggs and Ossie Boggs; five sisters, Roxann Castle, Maxine Honeycutt, Martha LeMaster, Helen Salyer and Francis Standifer; and one granddaughter.
The service was officiated by the Revs. Wendell Ison and Harold Salyer, with burial in the Skaggstown Church cemetery at Flat Gap.

Beulah Davis Skaggs
1930-2013
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 11 a.m. at the Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church in Lowmansville, for Beulah Davis Skaggs, 83, of Ulysses, who passed away Monday, Sept. 2.
Mrs. Skaggs was born May 25, 1930 in Huntington, W. Va., daughter of the late Amos and Dorothy Puckett Davis. She was a retired nurse with Louisa General Hospital. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Skaggs; and one son, Charles Ray Skaggs.
Surviving are three sons, Paul Skaggs of Lowmansville, Jeffery and Michael Skaggs, both of Ulysses; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church until time of service.
The service will be officiated by Terry Conley and Luther Dingess, with burial to follow in the Skaggs/Young cemetery at Lowmansville.

Bobby Gene Castle
1932-2013
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 2, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Bobby Gene Castle, 81, of Tutor Key, who passed away Friday, Aug. 30 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Castle was born Jan. 20, 1932 in Johnson County, son of the late William Jackson and Gemima Stambaugh Castle. He was a laborer with the Johnson County Road Dept. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Willard Bascom, Paul Richard, Clarence Ray, James, and Bert Welman Castle.
Surviving are one brother, William Jackson Castle Jr. of Tutor Key; and special friend, Connie Mayhan.
The service was officiated by Bruce Aaron Davis, with burial in the Castle Family cemetery at Tutor Key.

Charles W. Combs

Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 1, 2 p.m. at the Highland Church of Christ for Charles W. Combs, 84, of Flat Gap, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 29 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Combs was born Nov. 29, 1928 in Johnson County, son of the late Charles Ernest and Goldie Robinson Combs. He was a retired teacher; and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Billye D. Combs of Flat Gap; two sons, Charles Michael Combs of Jemez, N. M. and Gary Lee Combs of Marysville, Tenn.; one daughter, Dana J. Ison of West Liberty; one sister, Betty Fraley of Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Jerry Scott and Daniel Ison, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Everett Lee Sisco
1941-2013
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2 p.m. at the Cannons Chapel Church for Everett Lee Sisco, 72, of Flat Gap, who passed away Sunday, Aug. 25 at his residence.
Mr. Sisco was born March 15, 1941 in Johnson County, son of the late Esau and Goldie Spence Cisco. He was a auto-body mechanic; and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Billie A. Patrick Sisco of Flat Gap; two brothers, John Edward and Sherman Cisco; six sisters, Jean Stapleton, Thelma Estep, Mary Sizemore, Louise Stapleton, Brenda Coats and Billie Sue Thacker.
The service was officiated by Leonard Caudill and Paul Castle, with burial in the Patrick cemetery at Meally.

Pauline Sadler Kelsey

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Pauline Sadler Kelsey, 80, of Oil Springs, who passed away Monday, Sept. 2 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mrs. Kelsey was born March 1, 1933 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Victor and Jenny Daniels Sadler. She was an educator. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Dago” Kelsey; one son, Danny Lee Kelsey; one brother, Junior Sadler; and one sister, Malene Sadler.
Surviving are one son, Charles David (Nancy) Kelsey of Oil Springs; one daughter, Dianna Jo Kelsey (Jay) Howard of Oil Springs; one brother, Joe Sadler of De Gaff, Ohio; one sister, Ruth Sadler Fitch of Meally; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1 p.m.-9 p.m. at the chapel.
The service will be officiated by J. R. Salyers, with burial to follow in the Caudill-Kelsey cemetery at Oil Springs.
