Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 3 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Joseph Scott Thompson Jr., 73, of Nicholasville, who passed away Sunday, April 28 at Hospice of the Blue Grass in Lexington.
Mr. Thompson was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Huntington, W. Va., son of the late Joseph Scott Thompson Sr. and Katherine Halstead. He was a self-employed business owner, and a member of the U. S. Army Reserve. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Thompson; and one sister, Pamela Donte.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Thompson; one son, Shawn Scott (Pam) Thompson of Paintsville; one brother, Robert Thompson of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Kathy Gleason of Phoenix, Ariz. and Teresa Miller of Lakeland, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 3-9 p.m.
The service will be officiated by Wesley Stedtefeld, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Penelope Del Rio
1959-2013
Funeral services were held Monday, April 29, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Penelope Del Rio, 53, of Mesa, Ariz., who passed away Monday, April 22 in Mesa.
Mrs. Del Rio was born July 23, 1959 in Martin County, daughter of the late Delbert Ward and Hattie Ward Dutton. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, Leland, and Delbert Dean Ward; and one sister, Vivian Slonaker.
Surviving are her husband, Ruben Del Rio of Mesa, and one brother, Clarence Ward of Boons Camp.
The service was officiated by Larry Blair, with burial in the Bill Cline cemetery at Debord.

Robert Preston
1964-2013
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 30, 1 p.m. at the Hurricane United Baptist Church for Robert Preston, 48, of Boons Camp, who passed away Friday, April 26 at Ashland Hospice.
Mr. Preston was born Aug. 22, 1964 in Paintsville, son of the late Earl and Edna Butcher Preston. He was a member of the Hurricane United Baptist Church, and he was a core driller with Don Newsome Drilling. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Diana Turner Preston.
Surviving are one step-daughter, Deonna Turner Penson of Tomahawk; one brother, Lonnie Joe Preston of Boons Camp; two sisters, Alice Daniels of Boons Camp, and Rhonda Preston of Tomahawk.
The services was officiated by Eulas Adams, Phillip Caudill and Claude Mollette, with burial in the Preston Family cemetery at Boons Camp.

Velma Lou Banks Wells
1946-2013
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2 p.m. at the Van Lear Free Will Baptist Church for Velma Lou Banks Wells, 66, of Van Lear, who passed away Sunday, April 28 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
Mrs. Wells was born May 29, 1946 in Johnson County, daughter of the late George and Eulia Boyd Banks. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Benny Banks and George Banks Jr.; and three sisters Judy Writtenhouse, Billie Sue Miller and Bonnie Webb.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Wells; three sons, Richard Scott Wells of Van Lear, Kenneth Ray (Amy) Wells of Charleston, W. Va., and Bryan Joseph Wells of Staffordsville; two daughters, Patricia Ann (John) Dickerson and Billie Jo Wells, both of Van Lear; five brothers, Charles (Rose) Banks and Lloyd (Dee) Banks, both of Van Lear, William (Shelby) Banks of West Liberty, Bobby (Juanita) Banks of West Van Lear, and Roger Banks of Sevierville, Tenn.; three sisters, Essie Harlan and Dottie (Charles) Brown, both of Wabash, Ind., and Nila (David) Collins of Van Lear; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Paul Wayne Browning, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Freddie Conley

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 28, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Freddie Conley, 59, of Volga, who passed away Thursday, April 25 at his residence.
Mr. Conley was born Sept. 27, 1953 in Johnson County, son of the late Edgel and Opal McKenzie Conley. He was a retired strip miner.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Davis Conley of Volga; one daughter, Michelle Lynn (Brian) Adams of Flat Gap; and one granddaughter.
The service was officiated by Lindsey Meade and John Frank Meade, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Kenneth Estill Ratliff
1945-2013
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 16, 1 p.m. at the Beechwall United Baptist Church at Leander for Kenneth Estill Ratliff, 68, of Hager Hill, who passed away Saturday, April 13 at Hager Hill.
Mr. Ratliff was born January 23, 1945 in Johnson County, son of the late Ellis and Edna Miranda Blair Ratliff. He was a coal miner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Garnett Caudill Ratliff; one brother, Henry Ratliff; and one sister, Geneva Ratliff.
Surviving are three brothers, Elmon Ratliff of Leander, Eulis Ratliff of Carey, Ohio, and Ray Ratliff of Denver; and one sister, Allene Soard of Elkhart, Ind.
The service was officiated by Elders Doug Ward, Jerry Colvin, Rutherford Blair and David Young, with burial in the Ratliff Family cemetery at Denver.

Mary Ruth Hampton
Hampton, Mary Ruth Picklesimer, 80, passed away at home on Saturday, April 13, 2013 surrounded by her loving husband and three devoted daughters. She was the wife of Donald F. Hampton to whom she was married
for 60 years. She was the youngest daughter of twelve children born to the late Dorman and Rebecca Slone Picklesimer. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughters Jackie (Milt) Evans, Donna (Guy) Cornish, and Gena (David Kamerschen) Hampton; grandchildren Chad Muddiman, Jill (Meco) Richardson, Rebecca Evans, Betsy (Ryan) Laski, Bethany Evans, Kam and Caroline Kamerschen and Kim (David) Carmony; great grandchildren Malik, Mary and Myleigh Richardson, Cameron Muddiman and Olivia Laski; a sister Ola Jean Spears and a brother Dorman Picklesimer, Jr. and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a faithful member of South Elkhorn Baptist Church for 46 years serving as a Sunday school teacher and touching many lives. Funeral services led by Rev. Kevin Buntain will be 10:30 am Wed. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Road with burial to follow in the Highlands Memorial Park cemetery in Staffordsville. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass – Frankfort, 208 Steele St., Frankfort, KY 40601. The family wishes to thank nurse Jennifer Lawrence for her loving care and support.
Betsy Ann Baldridge
1925-2013
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Betsy Ann Baldridge, 87, of East Point, who passed away Sunday, April 14.
Mrs. Baldridge was born August 15, 1925 in Leander, daughter of the late Luther Jackson and Rusha Johnson Conley. She was a supervisor with American Standard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William L. Baldridge.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Baldridge of East Point, and Carolyn Baldridge of Hager Hill.
The service will be officiated by Bobby Joe Spencer, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

William Ray Webb

Funeral services were held Monday, April 15, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for William Ray Webb, 78, of Lovely, who passed away Friday, April 12 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr. Webb was born April 14, 1934 in Martin County, son of the late Wallace and Celia Horn Webb.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Adams Webb of Lovely; two sons, William Timothy Webb of Somerset, and Thomas Michael Webb of Georgetown; two brothers, Noah Webb of Lovely, and Jim Bo Webb of Paintsville; three sisters, Mae Smith of Lovely, Florence Bowen of Durham, N. C., and Lula Belle Gardner of Lebanon, Ohio; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Warfield cemetery at Warfield.
